Distant Love

As the doctor opened the door. Chris saw Sophie sitting on her bed. He was surprised and happy at the same time. He felt a sigh of relief in his mind like ice water was poured down his spine, he was so happy to finally see her move.

We were finally able to get her to eat something to gain some strenght, but she still can't talk, she needs all the morale support she can get to forget what happened and regain her speech. And am happy to inform you that she is making a quick recovery even faster than we thought; the doctor said with a smile on his face as he tap chris's shoulder and turned to leave.

Chris froze where he stood as if he was cemented to the floor, he felt like a ton of weight was lifted off him. He felt his conscious getting clear, he felt the world stopped blaming him.

Why are you standing there?; Mrs. John asked with joy on her face

"ohh" was the only word chris uttered as he snapped back to his senses

I know we didn't get off to a good start but am a mother and am bound to act in anyway out of anger; Mrs. John told Chris with a calm voice.

Oh that, i have forgotten about it already; Chris replied while rubbing his hair.

Well i still don't know your name is?; She asked.

Its Chris ma'am; Chris answered, he smiled and walked up to sophie.

He held Sophie's hand and said; those men are now in jail. I personal took care of them, they will never hurt you again, no, they won't hurt any other woman again. Sophie was speechless, the only thing that moved on her body was the tears that rolled down her cheeks.

Its ok, u dont have to cry again, ever; Chris said as he wiped the tears off her face and let go her hands.

Chris stayed for a while, they talked alot with Mrs. John that he didn't realise the time.

Wow, its 9:00pm, i have to go now but i will see you tomorrow, good night; Chris said as he stood up to leave.

Ok Chris, it was nice having you here; Mrs. John replied as she stood to check on Sophie who fell asleep.

As he reached the door, he paused and turned and took a glance at sophie one more time. He then went to his car and drove home.

As he arrived home, he saw two men in corporate suit leaving the house.

"Hmm thats weird, father never bring office work home"; He thought as he walked into the house.

His father was in the living room studying some document as he came in. He did not to bother his father so he didn't ask about the men he saw outside.

Good Evening father; Chris greeted.

Hmm; His father just nodded as a reply.

He went straight to his room, took a bath, lay on his bed and started thinking on how to help Sophie. He thought and thought for almost an hour before he got it.

Finally, i know what to do; he murmured as he sat up quickly like he was possessed.

He then began to wonder where beatrix was cuz he felt lonely, but then he remembered she told him she was having a sleep over at her friends house. He lay back and couldn't wait for the next day like a child waiting for christmas.
