Duke's Beautiful Tailor
Chapter 22
The tea party of the Countess of Cashford could be attended with no problem.
Jerome was well aware that Raynor Stud wanted to somehow get Helena inside of the royal society for the sake of his daughter’s future. So, he couldn’t make Helena decline the invitation.
The Countess of Cashford’s tea party was not open to all just aristocrats, and Helena was a commoner, so her invitations to social gatherings were limited. She couldn’t miss this great opportunity, so Jerome cleared his throat and said,
“And I have one more thing for you. The Countess of Cashford has sent you an invitation.”
“The Countess of Cashford?”
“The countess is planning to throw a grand tea party soon.”
Helena, who received the invitation from Jerome, opened the seal with a careful hand and looked at the invitation. She had a puzzled expression on her face.
“It’s next week. Thanks for inviting me, but I can’t afford to waste my time worrying about the tea party. I need to finish the duke’s clothes as soon as possible.”
Then Jerome spoke in a firm voice.
“What do you mean? Since the countess has invited you, you must attend the tea party. Did you know that the countess has taken a liking to you? If you betray her favor, it’s impossible to have a second chance anymore.”
“That’s true, but…”
As Helena spoke with a troubled face, Jerome spoke more forcefully.
“When the master asked for the payment in advance, the Countess of Cashford was the first to respond willingly. Moreover, the countess told the nobles we were acquainted with our difficult situation and were willing to pay for the clothes in advance. He also told me to help. Didn’t the countess send us a bouquet of flowers as soon as she heard about the accident?”
Countess Cashford owned a large estate in Caenne, but it was a mansion adjacent to the Stud family. She gave birth to her youngest son Hisle last spring.
By marrying off to the second daughter of the Viscount, she had married off all of her children and was about to take a breather.
When she was freed from the problems of her children’s marriage, the countess took on small partying and philanthropy.
Helena became acquainted with her after being invited several times to charities organized by the countess and became quite close to her. The countess cared for Helena, who was dexterous and lively and kind, like her own daughter.
“I know, Jerome.” Helena sighed deeply.
“I’m going. But right now, I can’t afford to go to a tea party. The duke’s first garment needs to be finished right away.”
“You only need to go there for half a day. Although there is no one capable of surpassing Miss in <Book of Knights>, the master’s disciples are just as talented. You must go.”
“But it’s funny to go to a tea party while my father is sick. People will speak of this.” Jerome shook his head.
