Dungeons for the Devil, Dungeons for the Core
Chapter XX: Morrow 3. Morrow
It is a lonely town of Moreau, but the last ten days have seen treasure balls - demonic stone beads inadvertently put out by Crowe - and the adventurers they are looking for. Arriving in town, Dar and Kurshank went into a place like the liquor store first...
"If you have ale, serve me two glasses. And something to pinch."
"More customers than before, Father."
"Is it the youth of Krushank? Now, as you can see, it'll be gone in a week."
The other man, Dar, looked back at his colleague as surprised.
"You've been here before?
"Didn't I tell you? I've been in this town for a while when I was an adventurer."
"Heh, heh, I'm an adventurer. Look for shards of gold on the day you come and the day you come, and you just whisk it back over there."
A shopkeeper-like man pinches his mouth as he serves his order.
"Yeah, well, that's why I'm here. Father, anything was a great treasure."
"That's what you said, drifter, but I'm not gonna look at that."
"What young man said you found treasure?
"I don't remember."
"Do you know where the treasure was?
"No... I don't want any of the runners to know. I wander over there. Looks like some of them headed for the dungeon, but the one who came back. Yes, sir."
"How many of you headed for the dungeon?
"You know what, that's what happened. But... at least the threesome who said they'd dive into the dungeon didn't come home."
"Have you actually found anything somewhere?"
"No, that's why I said I'd be gone anyway. Morrow is a town of dreams here. Everyone dreamed of gold, and the dream was over. I'm still here, all those idiots who can't let go of their dreams yet."
They paid to leave the tavern. Ask only questions about "treasure" and get no meaningful answers.
If Krushank had heard about the rumors in general, his father at the tavern might have told him about the fire that had been seen near Morrow's dungeon one summer evening. However, General Rover inadvertently forgot to convey the rumours of the fire that Elgin's Alliance Master had made known - because it was too ambiguous - so he never questioned the quality (just) of the preliminary knowledge of the fire and the rumours of the fire.
"Looks like we're done listening, but what do we do now?
"I've come this far around the corner. Let's worship a dungeon."
"Is this the Labyrinth of Return?"
"It just looks like a narrow rock hole."
"But here, at least fourteen adventurers are dead. That's more than that if the liquor store owner's words are correct. If you don't shut up, you won't even know the guild."
"Register as an adventurer in the first place."
"Is this the labyrinth of sand?"
"Barren's guild master is right, it feels like a hole in a sand mountain."
"You've got a chunk of sand falling apart while you're watching."
"But the accumulated sand seems to be slowly disappearing. The thickness of the sand on the ground has not changed."
"Two dungeons earlier, you didn't have any footprints of the beast"
"Is that what was staring at the ground? Can you explain that to me?
"Oh, it wouldn't be weird to have one or two of the animals that lived there if there was such a good (cool) cave. And yet I didn't have a single footprint."
"You mean there's some reason the animals aren't close?"
"It's the same thing about monster movements."
"What do we do now?
"It's almost sundown. Rather than going back to the graveyard, what about the old" Morrow's Dungeon "called the ruins?
"Not bad."
"Look at that. It's a wolf trail. There are also anagrammatic footprints."
"I see, some of them are somewhat old, but they have a lot of animal footprints"
"Oh, this is what caves are supposed to be like. Normal dungeons don't mean there's no animal footprints around."
"You mean those two dungeons aren't normal... Looks like Barren's guild master ordered you off limits."
"It's falling apart... but it's really ruins."
"Sounds like a ruin from the New Civil Age. From the marks of the rock scraping, it appears that the metal vessel was not used. They must have been using stoneware... there were pieces of earthenware."
"Come on, you know a lot about it. Are you an expert?
"When the priest from my village learned more about this, he helped organize the excavation, and he got confectionery for the reward. While I'm helping you with that,"
"Heh, people don't look like it"
"Don't slap me for nothing, look for something a little bit. Any sign of someone doing anything with this dungeon trail lately?
"No... from what I've seen, I don't see it. Does that make any sense?
"I don't know. Look for anything. I hope you don't mind if I tell the battalion chief or deputy chief that we found nothing."
"Shit, I got it. I don't like that either... Whoa, it's people's footprints!
What the two of them found is a footprint from a previous visit by the Crows here. At that time, the submissive demons were accompanied, but the little submissive demons of the body left no footprint-like footprints, and even if they did, they were simply footprints of lizards and walrus. It was also impossible for Krushank not to pay particular attention.
"Footprints are for one person only. You're going deep without hesitation..."
