"Captain, it seems that Haruka has encountered a 'real ghost'," Sugiyama Mao whispered.
Hasegawa Hayato clutched his head in pain.
My daughter has been experiencing a series of psychological problems, and solving them will be a long and arduous task.
……
The next day, after saying goodbye to her classmates, Haruka Hasegawa went home hand in hand with her father. Her mother had prepared a meal and was waiting for them.
Hasegawa Hayato spoke to her in a low voice, while three furtive figures lingered far behind them.
"No, Mao, do you really think these broken cards are any good?" Yonahara Sora squatted behind a bush, giving her teammate, who was dressed like a shaman, a look of disdain.
Mao Sugiyama protested in a low voice, "This amulet has been blessed by a very effective medium; it can sense danger!"
"Is this the thing that cost you a month's salary?" Yamashita Rikuto put down his binoculars.
"It's two months... so it's very precious!"
"You're hopeless." Yu Nayuankong scoffed and continued to keep watch.
Following Hasegawa and his daughter to the small street that was about to turn into the Kita-ryo Department Store, Yamashita Rikuto suddenly patted his teammate next to him: "The rooftop on the upper right, those kids in school uniforms."
Upon hearing this, both telescopes turned to the direction he was pointing.
"Standing on the edge? That's too dangerous!" said a dark-skinned idiot.
“How strange, those students…” said a fortune teller.
"You two, look at what they're staring at!" Yamashita Rikuto couldn't help but remind them, "That billboard is swaying!"
The few kids in school uniforms, some standing and some sitting, were gathered haphazardly by the roof railing. One of them was staring at the billboard across the street, which was teetering on the verge of collapse. The rest of the kids grinned at the oblivious people below.
The three stared at them for a moment, and then the schoolboys in school uniforms suddenly turned around and looked at them through the binoculars.
Sugiyama Mao felt a chill run down her spine and couldn't help but take two steps back. When she forced herself to look back with all her might, there was no school uniform-wearing ghost on the roof.
"They... they've disappeared..."
The three put down their binoculars and looked around again, only to see the billboards that stood firmly in place without any sign of moving, and... a crowd of people running around in all directions.
"Was that just a hallucination?" Yonahara Sora heard someone loudly saying on the phone that he had seen a chain car accident.
Another person rushed past and said that the road had collapsed and they should run away quickly.
There were also guys who kept walking in an arc, muttering about how all the floor tiles had been torn up.
The once bustling street is now a scene of utter chaos.
Those strange students...
"Ah! There they are!" Yonahara saw a few people in school uniforms turn into an alley at a street corner in the distance. Without thinking, he took off after them.
"Wait a minute!" Yamashita Rikuto clicked his tongue, but had no choice but to follow: "Those kids are weird, they might be deliberately trying to lure us in!"
“Then we need to figure out what’s going on even more,” Yonahara Sora said, waving his hand with his back to them. “If this ‘mass panic event’ happens every day, it’ll be a real problem if it actually causes a car accident!”
Mao Sugiyama was left behind and, seeing that she couldn't catch up with the two of them, glanced at Hayato Hasegawa, who was still comforting Haruka, and decided to stay and follow the captain: "Remember to use the communication if anything happens!"
"I know, I know," Yonahara Sora said without turning his head, "Go take care of Haruka!"
Chapter Seventy-Five: Gain and Loss
"Hahaha, those Earthlings are so stupid." The slightly curly-haired boy laughed, having once again tricked a large group of people, making even the stones on the roadside seem much more pleasing to the eye.
A girl with a neat schoolgirl hairstyle walked lightly at the front, her smiling eyes scanning the still panicked crowd at the end of the street: "I'm getting tired of this place. After 'Little Sister' defeats 'Big Brother,' which star will we go to?"
"Playing with a ball?"
The boy with narrow eyes crossed his arms and thought for a moment: "How about Mistella? They're at war with Atella. That must be interesting."
The girl with the bun hairstyle chimed in, "Ah, that sounds great! Also, we can go to Baldak. Their city is built, so let's stage an avalanche and bury them there, shall we?"
"Hahahaha, I really want to see the way the country folk worship their 'gods' again, and then, just when they think the 'gods' have calmed down, they unleash another avalanche, hahahaha..."
"Where are you going to cause an avalanche, you bunch of weird kids?"
The students turned around and saw two people in blue uniforms chasing after them.
The curly-haired boy tilted his head: "What to do? They're boring and stupid adult Earthlings."
Another boy squinted, and Yuan Kong suddenly felt a hand grab him out of thin air, and his body floated upwards uncontrollably.
"Hey? Hey! What's this?!"
Yamashita Rikudou saw him float two meters into the air, then slam into the side wall like he'd been hit by a hammer. He could even hear the sound of the back of his head hitting the wall. It looked like he was about to fall back to the ground uncontrollably.
"Kong!" Yamashita Rikuto reacted quickly. He rushed over and caught Yuan Kong, but he was also pulled down by the inertia.
Before he could even check his throbbing elbow, he turned to the "students" who were laughing even louder: "You are... aliens?"
"Ouch, ouch, ouch..." Yu Nayuan Kong stumbled to his feet, clutching the back of his head. His fingers felt sticky and warm, probably from being hit and bleeding. "Damn brats! You're the ones who caused this 'mass tremor'!"
The "students" remained calm and looked at him with smiles: "Yeah, isn't it fun? Creatures from a rural planet are only good at amusing us with their stupidity."
What kind of condescending and trashy remarks are these? Both members of the rescue team were furious upon hearing this.
Yuan Kong, clenching his fists, charged forward: "You guys are really something, sneaking into someone else's house and acting so arrogantly! Lu Dou! Call for backup, I'll hold them off for now!"
"Be careful, I've got headquarters' orders to send in combat personnel!" Yamashita Rikuto pressed the comms button, gave a few concise instructions to the other end, and then rushed forward.
The girl with the bun waved her hand leisurely, and the two of them froze halfway as if they were tied up with ropes. She dragged out the syllables of her words: "Boring—you two, if you want to die, come and get me."
“Always using the same trick, you’re pretty boring,” the girl with the student-style haircut stepped forward with her hands behind her back, winking at Nahara Sora and Yamashita Rikuto: “Have you ever been buried?”
"what?"
"I was buried, when my home planet was destroyed..."
Before the two could figure out what was going on, the concrete floor next to them suddenly lifted up, revealing the compacted soil underneath.
Have you ever seen a fountain made of mud and sand?
The kind that's taller than a person.
The two were pushed into the pit by an invisible force, and mud and sand poured over them. The pit was filled in very quickly, leaving only half of their heads exposed.
"Hahahaha... You guys just wait here for someone to come and rescue you!"
The "students" walked away laughing, their conversations fading into the distance.
"Hasn't the adorable 'little sister' reached the end of the bridge yet?"
"Let's go ahead and stop dawdling."
"Defeat Mebius, and then go to Mistara?"
"Um, I'm thinking of going to Baldak first..."
"..."
"Kuu! Rikudou! What's going on?" It was Mao Sugiyama's voice.
He barely managed to turn around and, out of the corner of his eye, saw her running towards him, with Hasegawa Hayato following behind.
"Captain?" Yonahara Sora opened his mouth and immediately swallowed a mouthful of mud. Fortunately, Sugiyama Mao was quick-witted and promptly cleared the loose soil from around his head.
"Ptooey, ptooey!" Yonahara spat out a mouthful of sand, finally feeling a bit better: "Captain, what brings you here? Where's Haruka?"
Hasegawa Hayato crouched down to help dig the person out, saying, "Let's take them to the police station and ask them to keep an eye on them. We can't just ignore Lu Dou's plea for help—did you encounter aliens?"
“Yes, and they’re the ones who triggered ‘mass fear,’” Rikuto Yamashita struggled to stick his right hand out of the ground. “They have superpowers, and they should be heading upstream on the artificial river now.”
Yohara Sora swayed from side to side, helping Sugiyama Mao push away the dirt pressing on her shoulders: "How did you know?"
“They said they were going to wait for someone at the ‘bridge at the end’, and there’s only one bridge at the end of the artificial river nearby. They also mentioned that they were going to defeat Mebius,” Yamashita Rikuto said urgently. “Captain, have headquarters contact GUYS as soon as possible.”
"Mao, dig me out quickly! I'm going to beat those damn aliens to a pulp!"
"How are you going to beat up an alien with superpowers, you idiot!"
Yu Yuan Kong struggled to crawl halfway out of the building: "Use your fists to beat them up! Besides... isn't there a construction site over by the artificial river? Those aliens aren't good people, we can't let them hurt the workers!"
"That's too dangerous, and there's blood on your head!"
“I know, the wall is too rough, I got a few scrapes,” Yonahara Sora said, shifting his position as he looked at Hasegawa Hayato. “Captain…”
“Dealing with aliens is not our mission; you're just causing trouble for the operations department,” Hasegawa Hayato said.
Seeing that Yu Yuankong's expression visibly lowered, he said, "But evacuating the crowd is our duty."
"Hasegawa Team, target: upstream construction site of the artificial river, to carry out evacuation mission!"
……
After leaving the GUYS base, Xiangzi went straight to the place she had arranged to meet her companions.
The GUYS group was actually quite nice. Even though they knew she was from outer space and not some future "little sister," they still threw her a welcome party.
The rose that Ikaruga Sadaharu gave her is still lying quietly in her coat pocket.
...It's so adorably naive to offer such simple kindness.
But the other two, what's their names, Bird and Round, were anything but cute; they actually tried to grab her, causing her slightly recovered mood to plummet again.
It was the same thing when I went to other planets before. I would unintentionally receive kindness, and then that precious kindness would often disappear easily.
If you hate aliens, then don't pretend to welcome them!
