His fearsome reputation and authority as a mafia godfather had vanished after many years, and the whole of Gotham felt that something might be about to change.
This is unprecedented; someone is challenging the city's dark and corrupt order.
For a time, the thugs and villains on the streets of Gotham began to act like real criminals when they were extorting money and robbing stores. They were panicked and flustered during their crimes, fearing that at any moment a bat-like shadow would emerge from somewhere high up and cast a shadow that would engulf and devour them!
"Batman?"
A newspaper was blown by the wind and landed on his face as he looked up at the skyscrapers upon arriving in Gotham.
Clark took the newspaper off his face and saw a bright red headline: Under the bat-shaped light, the Roman Falcone was captured.
Attached is a photo from the scene, as well as a sketch of Batman spreading his wings and flashing past between skyscrapers.
He paused, surprised at how familiar the silhouette looked.
"Is this the one who knows the whereabouts of the Pool of Lazarus?"
Clark turned around in confusion, only to see a somewhat unfamiliar person.
"Who are you? Why are you wearing David's clothes?"
David had returned to his small town and naturally regained his appearance, so he couldn't show his true face in Gotham.
Where's your blue hood?
He prompted him.
"David? How did you become like this? Is this also your ability?"
Upon hearing this and recognizing the familiar height and build, Clark immediately recognized his brother as the person in front of him. Greatly surprised, he took out the blue hood and put it on as his brother instructed.
Where do we find this Batman now?
Bats are creatures that are active at night and hide during the day.
Ignoring Clark's curious gaze, David thought for a moment and said.
"Let's go to his house and take a look."
Batman also needs rest; Gotham is most crime-prone at night, so he might be at home during that time.
The two traveled through the city at supersonic speeds to the outskirts of Gotham, in front of Wayne Manor.
A verdant lawn, walls covered in ivy, a tall, dark manor gate, a long gallery of statues and a fountain, and behind it, a magnificent and imposing ancient castle.
"What a huge estate."
Even the Lex family's estate isn't as vast as this.
Standing outside the manor, Clark stared in amazement, feeling like a country bumpkin visiting the city, peering inside.
"That Batman lives here?"
By the way, what is his ability?
The newspaper said that Batman stood up to fight gangsters and villains to save others and maintain the city's order. He couldn't possibly face a large number of armed criminals with his bare hands, so he instinctively thought of the superhumans he had encountered before.
"You've seen it."
"You see it?" Clark looked puzzled. He hadn't seen anything except a large, ancient manor.
David did not choose to break in without informing the door, but rang the doorbell.
On a small screen the size of a palm on a square stone pillar next to the door, the face of an elderly man with the air of an English butler appears.
"May I ask you are?"
Is Bruce Wayne there?
"I'm sorry, the master is not home. Please come back another day. Could you please leave your name so I can..."
Is Batman there?
Ignoring Afu's formulaic answer, David turned and said coldly.
Bruce Wayne is currently striking while the iron is hot, leaving a shadow of fear in the hearts of all the villains in Gotham.
They even worked overtime during the day to combat crime.
Batman?
Are you talking about that vigilante who flies around Gotham wearing a bat-cloak?
Alfred recognized David at a glance, but remained outwardly calm.
Batman once projected David's face onto the Batcave screen to gather information, and he also saw the amazing video of David shooting beams from his fingers and easily killing robbers.
"This is Wayne Manor, and the person you are looking for is not here."
Then, with an apologetic tone, he turned off the recording.
"What should we do now?"
Clark scratched his face. He was turned away at the door. The matter was urgent. Should he force his way in?
"It doesn't matter, I've already achieved my goal."
A bat is probably rushing back to its nest right now.
Not wanting to stand around waiting idly outside, David pulled Clark across the gate and into the manor.
……
Riding the Batmobile, Batman sped back to his manor.
He used a grappling hook to sneak into the second floor of his house like a thief and looked into the window.
In the reception room, the two sat on the sofa, receiving hospitality from Afu.
A familiar figure didn't drink the coffee in front of him, but tapped the sofa armrest rapidly with his fingers, as if he was waiting for something with a hint of impatience.
"This raptor hasn't left Gotham yet? What could be making him so anxious?"
Chapter 64: It's Not Too Late
Inside the room, another person, wearing a blue hood to conceal their face, sat with a restrained and shy posture, holding a hot coffee. They seemed somewhat embarrassed about being treated so politely after trespassing into someone else's home, and were repeatedly apologizing to the housekeeper, Afu.
"Who is the other one? Someone with special abilities like him?"
Suspicious, Batman quietly returned to his room, changed into his casual clothes, and appeared at the door of the second-floor meeting room.
After witnessing the destructive power of David's punch that day, which was radiating energy, he no longer believed that David possessed any hidden technological means.
If technology were this advanced now, Wayne Enterprises would have been out of work long ago.
"Master."
Bruce pushed open the door and entered the room, nodding to Alfred. He was about to speak one last time to test whether the other party had truly confirmed his identity.
"You're moving too slowly."
David stood up and frowned. He had noticed Batman spying on him from outside the window, but he didn't expose him.
After all, we had already broken into their home, and it would be quite impolite to drag them in through the window.
"Mr. Bruce Wayne, could you tell me where the Pool of Lazarus is?"
"What Lazarus Pool?"
Bruce frowned; he had never heard of the name before.
"Where in the Middle East is the headquarters of the Assassin's Guild where you were trained located?"
Seeing that Bruce Wayne's puzzled look didn't seem fake, David quickly changed the subject and asked, "Batman might not know about Lazarus Pool at this point, but it doesn't matter, it's right here at the League of Assassins headquarters anyway."
"Training? Assassin's Guild?"
Bruce's expression changed slightly.
He was indeed trained in one place, but not in the League of Assassins.
"I've only ever heard of the Shadow Warriors."
Sensing that David was in a bad mood and seemed impatient, he glanced at Afu standing beside him and tentatively said in a deep voice.
"Shadow Warrior? Where did you receive your training from Lei Xiaogu?"
It wasn't the Assassin's Guild, but David felt the name sounded familiar.
Lei Xiaogu is the master assassin, nicknamed the Demon King, and the founder of the Assassin's Guild. After discovering the Pool of Lazarus in the Middle East, he soaked in it for many years and gained the ability to live forever. He has lived for more than 700 years, accumulated a lot of wealth, and established organizations similar to the Assassin's Guild around the world, determined to purify the human world.
The so-called Shadow Warriors are likely similar organizations he established elsewhere.
Clark glanced at David, then at Bruce Wayne who had just entered.
The information about the Assassin Alliance, Lei Xiaogu, and Shadow Warriors left him completely confused.
How did my younger brother find out about these things?
But there wasn't time for him to ask any more questions.
“Please tell us, Mr. Wayne, this is very important to us.”
Seeing Clark's slightly anxious and sincere request, Bruce, who had just heard the name of the Assassin Master and was somewhat surprised, had a slight change in his eyes, his gaze shifting between Clark and David.
