With the help of these airbags, Li Mu finally managed to swim across the pool and enter the ancient tomb after a great deal of effort.

After climbing ashore from the water, Li Mu unwrapped the waterproof tarpaulin, took out everything inside, lit a torch, and officially began exploring the ancient tomb.

There was a stone chamber right in front of us. Judging from the dust on the ground, no one had walked through this stone chamber for a long time. It seemed that there was really no one in the ancient tomb.

Using the torch as a guide, he took a few steps forward and found a stone door at the end of the stone chamber, which looked like it hadn't been opened for a long time. Li Mu took a deep breath, placed his hands on the stone door, and channeled his inner strength. With a creaking sound, the stone door was slowly pushed open, revealing a large hall.

The room was empty, with only a stone table and benches. Li Mu examined it carefully and found no trace of human presence. Although there was very little dust, it was probably due to the lack of human habitation and poor air circulation.

He wandered around for a while, quickly reaching the back hall, which was also empty. Only two portraits hung on the west wall, below which was an incense table and a prayer mat. There was another painting on the east wall, and nothing else!

Li Mu raised his torch and examined the two portraits to the west. One depicted two young women, one about twenty-five or twenty-six years old, with an extremely beautiful face, delicate eyebrows reaching her temples, but with a hint of murderous intent in the corners of her eyes, inspiring awe in those who looked at her, and was dressing up in front of a mirror; the other was a maidservant about fifteen or sixteen years old, holding a porcelain basin and serving by her side, with a cute and innocent appearance and a face full of childishness.

Li Mu guessed that the older woman was Lin Chaoying, the founder of the Ancient Tomb Sect and a legendary heroine; and the maid was probably the second-generation leader of the Ancient Tomb Sect and Xiaolongnu's master.

Li Mu looked at another painting, which depicted a beautiful couple. The painting was rather blurry, and the man was dressed in a green robe with a giant sword slung across his back. He was naturally proud and unrestrained.

The woman was dressed in soft gauze, her skin was as white as snow, and she seemed to be untouched by worldly affairs. She was extremely beautiful and extremely aloof.

After staring at the two paintings for a long time, Li Mu sighed softly: "Behind Zhongnan Mountain, the Tomb of the Living Dead, the Condor Heroes, have vanished from the martial world."

"I never expected that I would actually see it."

After viewing the two paintings, Li Mu raised his torch and illuminated the portrait on the east side.

The painting depicts a middle-aged Taoist priest. He is quite tall, with a long sword at his waist, and his right hand points to the northeast corner. However, his back is turned outwards, so his face is not visible. There are also many spots on the painting indicating that it has been drying in the shade.

Li Mu guessed that this was probably Wang Chongyang.

Lin Chaoying's love for Wang Chongyang was both profound and intense.

It is said that the Ancient Tomb Sect has a rule that after paying homage to the founder Lin Chaoying, one must spit on the portrait of Wang Chongyang. Over time, these dried marks will remain.

After viewing these paintings, Li Mu was deeply moved and decided to try his best not to touch anything here, so that it could remain as it has been for hundreds of years.

Perhaps, when you leave, you can seal off the pool as well, letting the ancient tomb remain buried deep underground, so that no one will disturb the tranquility of this place again.

Chapter 526 The Past and Present Lives of the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra and the Sunflower Manual

Li Mu left the inner hall, lit a few candles in the main hall, instantly brightening the space, and continued his exploration of the ancient tomb.

The interior of this ancient tomb is indeed quite large, with stone chambers connected one after another, roughly estimated to be nearly a hundred. Most of them are empty, with many containing daily necessities, weapons, or ordinary books.

As Li Mu walked, he left marks to avoid getting lost. He continued to explore as he went. In the ancient tomb, it was impossible to distinguish between day and night. When he was hungry, he would eat some of the dry food he had brought. When he was thirsty, he would drink some water. When he was tired, he would sit cross-legged and meditate for a while. After most of the day, he finally found the stone chamber inscribed with the Nine Yin Manual.

There was nothing unusual about this stone chamber. Li Mu raised his torch and looked up. He saw that the ceiling was covered with writing, and on the far right were four large characters: "Nine Yin Manual".

Li Mu was overjoyed, knowing that he had found it.

Holding a torch, Li Mu walked around the room. It was a pity that only a part of the martial arts of the Nine Yin Manual were recorded on it, and a piece of writing on the top of the stone chamber had fallen off. Li Mu held up the torch to check and, fortunately, the missing pieces all belonged to one martial art. The other martial arts on the top of the chamber were well preserved.

In one corner of the stone chamber, there is a map depicting the underwater passage leading to and from the ancient tomb. It turns out that when this ancient tomb was built, it was during the time when Wang Chongyang was full of ambition and wanted to restore the Central Plains. He was unwilling to hide in the ancient tomb after a defeat, knowing that he would be surrounded by the Jin army and trapped in a desperate situation. So he built the underwater passage for his escape.

After losing the ancient tomb to Lin Chaoying in the martial arts contest, Yang Guo feared that Lin Chaoying would think he was cowardly and had left him an escape route, thus losing his manly spirit. Therefore, he did not tell Lin Chaoying about the secret passage, and no one knows whether Lin Chaoying later discovered it. It was not until Yang Guo and Xiaolongnu discovered the place in a desperate situation that they were able to escape.

Li Mu glanced at the map casually, then focused his mind and began to carefully examine the incomplete Nine Yin Manual carved on the ceiling.

The above records do not contain any internal energy cultivation methods; they are mostly auxiliary, extraordinary, or secret techniques.

The three longest chapters are Yi Jin Duan Gu, Yi Hun Da Fa, and Xuan Lu Jiu Ying.

There are three more secret techniques, which are relatively short: the "Breath-Holding Secret Technique," which is mostly prepared for entering and exiting the pool; the "Acupoint Release Secret Technique"; and the "Healing Technique."

Although there were only six articles (three long and three short), it was still a huge gain.

Then, Li Mu took out a candle and lit it in various parts of the stone chamber, instantly illuminating the secret room and making the writing on the ceiling clearly visible.

Li Mu calmed down, ate some dry rations, and rested for a while. Once he felt refreshed and full of energy, he began to read from the beginning.

First, there is the "Forging Bones" chapter of the Book of Changes: "People only know that sitting still and ceasing thought is the way to cultivate virtue, but they do not know that those who reach the highest level are well-rounded in both meditation and wisdom, cultivating both essence and function, being still even in motion, and tranquil even in turmoil..."

Li Mu had long heard of the fame of this extraordinary skill. Martial arts that can change the meridians, strengthen bones, and improve aptitude are truly rare.

It is said that Huang Shang started learning martial arts very late. Later, when he was in charge of compiling the Daoist Canon, he actually comprehended profound martial arts skills from it. Although he had a broad mind, he was limited by his own foundation in middle age and could not make great progress in martial arts.

Subsequently, with great wisdom and perseverance, he comprehended the mysteries of heaven and earth and created the extraordinary skill "Yi Jin Duan Gu Pian" (易筋锻骨篇), reshaping his physical constitution and becoming one of the world's top masters. This also demonstrates the power of the Yi Jing Duan Gu Pian.

The second technique is the Soul Transfer Technique, also known as the Soul Capture Technique. This martial art transcends the scope of ordinary martial arts and involves the spiritual realm.

When one reaches a high level of mastery, one can not only improve one's mental cultivation but also strengthen one's essence, energy, and spirit. This allows one to influence others, causing them to fall into a state of mental confusion, and even having a hypnotic effect.

Next is "Nine Shadows of Spiral," a top-tier movement technique in the martial arts world, which, along with the Huashan secret technique "Ascending the Heavenly Ladder," each has its own strengths.

This skill allows for swift movement within a small space, moving left and right with incredible agility. At a high level of mastery, it can even create illusions.

Li Mu read the inscription: "Turn left once, turn left halfway. Turn right once, turn right halfway. Turning left and right once is not the same, rotating horizontally in the air is more like the Great Unity. Rotating left and right is the rotation of heaven and earth, stepping left and rotating right in the air is a rotation on flat ground. Joining hands is the rotation of Yin and Yang, stepping right and rotating left in the air is not the same..."

The remaining three are secret techniques.

The "breath-holding technique" allows one to enter a state of tortoise-like breathing, where one does not need to breathe through the mouth and nose for a short period of time.

Some top masters in the martial arts world can hold their breath for a short time due to their profound internal strength. However, this ability also allows people with less internal strength to enter the state of tortoise breathing in a short time. If this method is used in water, it is truly like a fish in water, swimming freely in the waves.

There is also a "Secret Method for Unlocking Acupoints," which is very useful in the world of martial arts.

If someone strikes an acupoint, the meridians and acupoints in the body become blocked, and it is difficult to unblock them without external force. The secret manual explains the methods of opening, striking, and opening acupoints on one's own, which can unblock acupoints without the aid of external force.

Although this skill cannot enhance martial arts skills, it is very useful for traveling in the martial arts world.

The most useful section is the "Healing" section.

When traveling the martial world, no one can guarantee they won't get hurt, so the importance of a secret method specifically for healing injuries is self-evident.

The method of healing with internal energy described in the text was truly profound, prompting Li Mu to clap his hands in praise. It was indeed an essential skill for traveling the martial arts world.

After reading these six extraordinary martial arts manuals, Li Mu was full of praise for Huang Shang, who created the "Nine Yin Manual," such an unparalleled martial art.

To be able to read the Taoist canon, observe the heavens and the earth, comprehend the mysteries of the heavens, and create such extraordinary feats as a mere child, truly makes him a grandmaster of martial arts.

Li Mu opened the learning card and began to study and memorize, spending several days reciting the six qigong manuals backwards. He then repeatedly read them aloud in his mind until he could recite them word for word without any mistakes or omissions before he stopped.

After leaving the stone chamber and arriving at the main hall, Li Mu wandered around again and suddenly discovered a strange stone chamber.

Upon entering, one discovers that this stone chamber is truly peculiar: "narrow in the front and wide in the back, forming a trapezoid, with a semicircle on the east side and a triangular shape on the west side."

Li Mu recalled the plot of The Return of the Condor Heroes, which he had once read. As if he had thought of something, he raised his torch and looked up at the ceiling. He saw that the stone slabs on the roof were engraved with all kinds of patterns, symbols and characters, some deep and some shallow, all carved with sharp tools. They looked irregular and profound.

Li Mu groped along the stone wall for a while, then suddenly pushed open another stone house. This stone house was symmetrical to the first one in every way, yet opposite in every way, being narrow in the back and wide in the front, with a rounded west side and an eastern corner.

If I'm not mistaken, one of these two stone chambers was probably Wang Chongyang's secret training room, and the other was Lin Chaoying's secret training room. Whenever they had insights while practicing martial arts, they would write them down on the top of the stone wall.

In the drama, when Yang Guo and Xiaolongnu were learning martial arts, they accidentally discovered this place and often came here to comprehend the profound mysteries of martial arts.

Li Mu held the torch and carefully examined one of the walls of Lin Chaoying's martial arts training room. It seemed to be covered with dense writing, which, upon closer inspection, appeared to be martial arts secrets.

Wang Chongyang left behind the Chongyang Inscription. Lin Chaoying challenged him to a duel, so could she have left something behind as well?

Li Mu glanced through it and found that it was the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra, the sect's most important cultivation method, but only half of it.

However, no matter how Li Mu looked at it, the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra seemed somewhat familiar, as if he had seen it before.

Suddenly it dawned on him—wasn't this the Evil-Repelling Sword Manual that he had burned? The cultivation methods and philosophy of the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra were so similar to the Evil-Repelling Sword Manual, some parts were even exactly the same, it was practically like a martial art.

Li Mu was completely dumbfounded. The Lin family's Evil-Repelling Sword Manual and the Ancient Tomb Sect's Jade Maiden Heart Sutra were actually the same. The two martial arts were completely unrelated, so how could they be so similar?

Then, Li Mu thought of more similarities between the two martial arts.

The Evil-Repelling Sword Manual originated from the Sunflower Manual, and the most skilled practitioner of this martial art was undoubtedly Dongfang Bubai.

What is Dongfang Bubai's most famous weapon? An embroidery needle.

However, the Ancient Tomb Sect are also experts in using needles. Whether it is Li Mochou's Ice Soul Silver Needle or Xiaolongnu's Jade Bee Needle, it cannot help but make people think.

Most importantly, the Sunflower Manual is so difficult to practice because when practicing it, one's whole body feels hot, one's yang energy surges, and desires arise, making it unbearable. One can only castrate oneself to remove the root of these troubles in order to continue practicing.

The Jade Maiden Heart Sutra is also extremely difficult to cultivate, and the requirements for cultivation are also very high.

The introductory internal cultivation method of the Ancient Tomb Sect is called the "Twelve Lesses," which are: less thinking, less contemplation, less desire, less action, less speech, less laughter, less sorrow, less joy, less happiness, less anger, less like, and less dislike.

These twelve masters, to put it nicely, are detached from worldly desires and have transcended all emotions. To put it bluntly, they are almost training people to become emotionless robots.

Just like in The Return of the Condor Heroes, when Granny Sun, who had taken care of her since childhood, died, Xiaolongnu's reaction was extremely indifferent, as if she were a stranger, and she didn't even care about her own life or death.

In this respect, Xiaolongnu successfully cultivated the Twelve Lessons, becoming free from desires and attachments, and thus qualified to cultivate the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra.

Let's look at Li Mochou, another disciple of the Ancient Tomb Sect. She fell in love on her first outing, but was betrayed and heartbroken, which led her to turn evil and kill people everywhere.

Compared to Little Dragon Girl, Twelfth Master's training has all gone to waste.

As a result, the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra was passed on to Xiaolongnu, with no involvement from Li Mochou. It wasn't that they didn't want to pass it on to her, but rather that Li Mochou didn't even have the qualifications to begin practicing it; practicing it would only harm her. Even Xiaolongnu in the drama told Li Mochou the same thing.

Li Mochou later became jealous of Xiaolongnu, believing that as her senior sister, she was also qualified to cultivate the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra. She always wanted to snatch the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra, but fortunately she didn't succeed. Otherwise, given her unstable emotions, often experiencing extreme joy and sorrow, and her personality that was completely unrelated to tranquility and detachment, she would have been in trouble.

The result might be the same as not castrating oneself and practicing the Sunflower Manual.

Not only that, look at the configurations that come with the Ancient Tomb Sect's cultivation of the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra.

First, let's talk about the Ancient Tomb Sect itself. Ancient tombs are inherently yin, with heavy yin energy. They are inhabited by women who rarely come out, rarely see the sun, and rarely see other people, making them even more yin.

In addition, the Cold Jade Bed, a treasured training artifact of the Ancient Tomb Sect, is an extremely yin and cold object.

All these conditions combined completely negate the side effects of cultivating the Sunflower Manual, such as body heat, excessive yang energy, and aroused desires.

You can cultivate directly without any side effects.

The more Li Mu thought about it, the more he felt that the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra was actually the Sunflower Manual. Perhaps after it was circulated in the early years, no one was able to master it, and by chance, a eunuch mastered it, thinking that this skill was specifically for eunuchs to practice.
