This operation was initiated by higher authorities.

Sergeant Cook, who was in charge of the operation, couldn't understand why those incompetent guys suddenly wanted to capture this terrifying monster.

However, the order to carry out this operation came very suddenly and secretly, without prior communication or participation from any of Walter's personnel.

This was a military operation in its entirety.

Cook also considered that this should be an official, clandestine operation, given that the Department of Defense is now, as is well known, almost entirely under Vought's control.

He guessed that the military must have its own reasons for this feeling of being controlled and didn't want to maintain this twisted relationship indefinitely.

After all, who could tolerate having such power of life and death fall into the hands of a private entrepreneur, and having to act according to his whims?

The Hellfire missile bombardment has razed the ground to the ground with its immense destructive power, even creating a huge crater in the area where the villa was originally located.

The cave was empty and pitch black, with thick smoke rising from it.

Enveloped in swirling green smoke, it looked rather eerie.

As the thick smoke dissipated, that tenacious figure rose again from the crater created by the missile explosion and casually climbed onto the edge of the crater.

A disdainful smile graced his face.

The soldiers around them were all stiff-faced, their hearts sinking to the bottom. What kind of being could withstand Hellfire missiles?

Cook, on the helicopter, saw this presence in the not-so-hot weather.

His cold expression was replaced by a fine layer of sweat on his forehead. Without hesitation, he picked up the walkie-talkie.

"Plan has failed, everyone retreat!"

Now that it's clear that such an inhuman creature couldn't even be harmed by missiles, there's no point in fighting anymore. Cook immediately ordered a retreat.

He didn't want his soldiers to make such a pointless sacrifice, dying at the hands of a damned monster.

The inhuman creature before them was clearly beyond the capabilities of ordinary people like them.

The reinforced soldiers, having received their orders, were already relieved to hear the command to retreat.

After all, the psychological pressure on them was immense to face someone who could withstand even the damage from missiles.

The order to retreat was issued.

The soldiers on the ground retreated slowly like a tide, keeping a wary eye on the figure that had just slowly stood up in the ruins.

At this moment, Pei Yuan stood up.

His eyes were fixed on the three helicopters hovering in the sky watching him, a fierce glint flashing in his eyes.

Seeing the retreating superhuman soldiers and the helicopters preparing to leave, Pei Yuan thought for a moment and then collapsed to the ground, looking as if he had been anesthetized by the nerve gas bombs.

Soon, the retreating soldiers noticed the unusual situation that had occurred on the battlefield.

"Wait, that monster fell down. Did that nerve gas actually work?"

Connecting to the channel.

A surprised voice suddenly rang out.

It was the voice of one of the helicopter pilots, who was at the very end of the retreat. He happened to catch a glimpse of the figure lying on the edge of the battlefield crater and looked rather incredulous.

Cook, who had just been observing the target below with his binoculars, was preparing to retreat when he heard this response.

He immediately turned around, picked up the binoculars again, and looked into the crater. He immediately saw the target lying unconscious.

It appears they were anesthetized by nerve gas.

Under these circumstances, a hint of joy finally appeared on Sergeant Cook's face. He was prepared to retreat in order to save the lives of his soldiers, and also because he believed that the objective mission was beyond his control and he did not want to make unnecessary sacrifices.

But now that the target is already unconscious, there's no way we can let him slip away easily.

He immediately ordered the reinforced soldiers who had retreated on the ground to return to the ruins. Under Sergeant Cook's orders, a four-man squad quickly went forward to investigate the situation.

A soldier kicked Pei Yuan, who was lying on the ground, and after finding no movement, gave an OK sign to the helicopter where Sergeant Cook was in the sky.

"The target is fine; he's already unconscious."

A safety signal has been received.

Three Apache helicopters were in the sky, with the last one slowly landing.

As the hatch opened, several soldiers entered, and a metal cabin made entirely of alloy was forcefully pushed out.

"This guy is really strong; even a missile couldn't hurt him. Luckily, the nerve gas was still somewhat effective!"

A soldier wearing a gas mask stepped forward with a steel cable and used a machine to tie the cable to Pei Yuan.

Looking at the unharmed target with his streamlined muscles, he was shocked and couldn't help but let out a deep sigh.

"Yeah, that's terrifying. No wonder this guy can withstand the main missile attack. I'd rather fight those women I can't handle."

The soldier opposite him, who had been admiring Pei Yuan's muscles, suddenly paused, looking at the other soldier with a hint of confusion:

"Did you...see him move his hand just now?!"

"what?"

Did he move his hand?

“Where did you move? I think you're under too much mental stress and need a woman to relax. This guy's hands are tied up. If the nerve gas didn't work, would he be so willing to let us tie him up?”

Upon hearing this, the black soldier opposite him chuckled, finding his comrade's cowardice somewhat amusing.

Hearing this, the soldier who had raised the question relaxed.

Yes, this terrifying guy has already been tied up, so who could possibly break free?

After thinking for a moment, he continued what he was doing, binding the target so tightly that there was no room for escape.

Urged on by Sergeant Cook, four soldiers lifted Pei Yuan's body and placed it into a metal compartment next to them.

With a loud thud.

The pre-prepared metal capsule automatically locked and closed, at which point the nerve gas inside was released.

Once the metal capsule was loaded back onto the helicopter, the soldiers' mission was finally complete.

Look at this scene below.

Even the usually cold-blooded Sergeant Cook showed a rare smile.

Although the mission encountered some setbacks, it has been successfully completed in retrospect.

Nodding, he instructed the soldiers to retreat.

The Apache helicopter took off again, heading towards the Seventh District military base in Vermont.

Chapter 69 [Surprised?] 2nd Update

The time didn't last long; the helicopter flew at high speed and soon arrived at its destination, the military's Seventh District base in Vermont.

The central open space of the base.

Soldiers who had heard the news were quite curious and gathered around the airport perimeter.

I want to see what kind of person this guy, who's rumored to be able to arm wrestle with Homelander, really is.

"I have successfully completed my mission, Colonel Shelley!"

Cook, after stepping off the helicopter, ordered the soldiers to push down the metal capsule containing the target.

Upon seeing the man approaching through the ranks of soldiers, he immediately stepped forward and stood at attention, giving a sharp salute to the middle-aged man in military uniform who was leading the group.

The middle-aged man addressed as Colonel Shelly nodded, his gaze fixed on the target's face in the metal pod. He then reached out and patted Cook on the shoulder, a smile playing on his lips.

"Well done, kid. Hurry up and get it to the lab. Dr. Green has been waiting for a long time!"

Cook nodded upon hearing this and waved his hand, instructing the soldiers to push the metal capsule over.

Dr. Green was invited by the military region. He is a biology PhD who has always been very knowledgeable in biology and has made significant achievements in research on biological cells and related fields.

The suggestion to use nerve gas and other chemical agents against the target was also made by this doctor.

As they ventured deeper into the base and passed through the corridor, the metal cabin placed on the pulley platform moved unimpeded all the way, eventually descending to the second basement level via an elevator.

I don't know if it's because the air conditioning is on, but the temperature here is about ten degrees lower than outside, and it feels like there's a chilly wind blowing in.

The space here is much larger than one might imagine from the outside. The ceiling is filled with stark white lights, and the space extends outwards, containing experimental pods filled with protective covers.

Inside the circular experimental chamber were human beings, both male and female, whose bodies were completely naked.

However, most of these human forms are somewhat strange; some are neither human nor non-human, and some have even lost all the distinctive features of a human.

It is clear that this military base number seven is also secretly conducting some kind of inhumane experiment.

The soldiers were used to such situations. They kept their heads down and pushed the metal capsule containing the target in full regalia to a separate isolation room at the end of the corridor without saying a word.

The isolation room was spotless white, with three sides made of extremely hard metal walls, and a window with thick glass on the side closest to the corridor.

In the center is a lifting metal frame that can secure the experimenters.

The frame slowly rose, and the interface metal connectors at the back of the metal cabin were put together. As the position was adjusted, the face of the target inside was facing the outer glass of the isolation chamber.

Upon hearing the news, Dr. Green arrived and immediately showed an excited expression when he saw the target who had just been captured.

You see, they had previously obtained the video of this guy's battle with Homelander that day through information from the CIA, and they also knew how powerful this monster was.
