Then, before Bai Jing and the others could speak, Hua Bangzi said expressionlessly, "The white tiger falls to the plains, the golden dragon enters the green mountains; if you seek the hidden treasure, not one in a thousand will return."
After saying that, the man with the flowery arms burst into laughter.
Upon hearing this, Sun Qiaoshan remained silent for a moment, then said with a look of reminiscence, "What this guy said reminds me of some old stories."
Bai Jing and the other two looked at Sun Qiaoshan with some confusion.
Sun Qiaoshan had no intention of keeping them in suspense and immediately said, "Legend has it that many years ago, a golden dragon was hidden in Tuanshanzi."
Afterwards, Bai Jing and the other two listened to Sun Qiaoshan tell stories.
The story goes something like this: Decades ago, a group of thieves were searching for gold veins in the mountains. They dug for many years, but to no avail.
One day, before the people down below had even come up, the alarm suddenly went off.
Those who remained on the ground immediately assumed that those below had found a gold mine. However, when they pulled the people out of the well, they discovered that everyone who had gone down into the well was dead.
Most importantly, the way these people died was horribly gruesome; each of them died with blood flowing from all seven orifices.
The people on the surface had no idea what was happening underground, and immediately prepared to check how these people had died.
However, just as they were about to take a closer look, one of them suddenly opened his eyes, which scared the person left above half to death.
The next moment, a golden dragon shot up from the well, causing the earth to shake and mountains to crumble.
Until everyone was buried in the mountains.
Chapter 29 A Brief Discussion on Dragon Veins
After finishing his explanation, Sun Qiaoshan took another puff of his pipe and concluded, "From then on, Jinlong was gone forever, and the miners either died or fled. From then on, Tuanshanzi became a completely barren mountain."
Then, Sun Qiaoshan took out the map and spread it on the table.
This is a topographic map of the entire Tuanshanzi area.
While Bai Jing and Hu Bayi were looking at the map, Sun Qiaoshan continued, "Later, the Japanese occupied Northeast China and even sent a team to search for gold here, but they found nothing after more than half a year of searching."
Upon hearing this, Fatty Wang immediately wore a gloating expression.
"Haha, you deserve it!"
As Bai Jing looked at the topographical map of the entire Tuanshanzi area in front of him, a smile slowly crept onto his lips.
Hu Bayi, however, began to mutter to himself.
"Don't say that there are dragons in the high mountains, for they disappear on the plains."
Upon hearing this, the fat man looked at Hu Bayi with some confusion and asked, "Old Hu, what are you muttering about?"
Bai Jing smiled and said, "This saying comes from the 'Hanlong Jing,' one of the representative works of Yang Yunsong, a Feng Shui master of the Tang Dynasty. It can be said to be the most authoritative classic of dragon vein Feng Shui, and it is also an ancient classic for finding dragon veins."
This statement roughly means that one shouldn't assume dragon veins only exist on high mountains and not on flat land. It implies that this is a Feng Shui treasure land; while it may not have a particularly powerful dragon vein, it is, ultimately, a genuine dragon vein.
Upon hearing this, everyone's gaze turned to Bai Jing.
Bai Jing didn't stand on ceremony and spread the map out on the table, saying, "Look, Tuanshanzi on this map runs east-west. Although it doesn't look particularly steep or special, if you look closely, you can easily discover that it is actually a complete and unbroken dragon vein. It's truly a rare sight."
Following that, Bai Jing wandered around the room, and then said while thinking, "We all know that the map of our country is shaped like a rooster. If you look closely, you can find many interesting things, such as the three 'dragon veins' hidden within it!"
Upon hearing this, Fatty Wang was first taken aback, then looked at Bai Jing with surprise and asked, "Three dragon veins? Could it be that this mountain is one of them?"
These words almost made Bai Jing choke.
But Bai Jing quickly recovered and immediately said, "It's not that exaggerated. A dragon vein refers to an undulating mountain range. According to the definition of feng shui, any place located on a dragon vein is a feng shui treasure land."
What I just mentioned as the dragon veins are actually three main veins, also the three largest dragon veins.
After saying that, Bai Jing looked at Sun Qiaoshan and asked, "Uncle Qiaoshan, do you have any paper and pen here?"
Upon hearing this, Sun Qiaoshan immediately took out paper and pen from the cabinet and handed them to Bai Jing.
Bai Jing took the paper and pen and began to draw on the paper.
Soon, a map appeared on the paper.
Everyone present could tell that this was a map of our country.
Immediately afterwards, Bai Jing first drew three continuous lines on the paper, and then drew three discontinuous lines.
Bai Jing first pointed to
The three solid lines said, "As I just mentioned, dragon veins, which are mountain ranges, include the direction and undulations of the mountain ranges. However, dragon veins actually do not only refer to mountain ranges, but also to water veins."
Because both mountains and rivers are very similar to dragons in many ways, Feng Shui compares mountains and waterways to dragons.
The Complete Book of Geography: Mountain Methods states: "What is a dragon? It is the vein of a mountain. Soil is the flesh of a dragon, stone is the bone of a dragon, and grass is the hair of a dragon."
This is easy to understand: the dragon vein is the sum of mountains, rivers, plants, and trees.
Water veins aren't really relevant to today's topic, so we'll leave them aside for now. Today, we'll only talk about three mountain and river dragon veins.
After saying that, Bai Jing pointed to the two water veins representing the Yellow River and the Yangtze River and said, "It is generally acknowledged in the Feng Shui industry that Kunlun Mountain is the 'ancestor of all mountains and the source of dragon veins,' and is the ancestral dragon (root dragon) among all dragons."
All dragon veins originate from Kunlun and extend to all parts of the world.
Among these, the dragon veins entering my country are further divided by region, with the Yangtze River and Yellow River systems serving as the boundaries, dividing my country's mountain ranges into three major main dragon veins: the southern, northern, and central ones.
These three main dragon veins, after passing through various regions, formed branch dragon veins. These branch dragon veins are what we usually consider dragon veins, and Tuanshanzi is one of these branch dragon veins, or rather, Tuanshanzi is actually part of this entire branch dragon vein.
At this point, Hu Bayi seemed to have thought of something and immediately asked, "Could it be that Tuanshanzi is actually a branch of the Greater Khingan Mountains?"
Bai Jing nodded upon hearing this and said, "That's right, the Greater Khingan Mountains can be said to be one of the most crucial branch dragons among the main dragons of the north."
Just as the dragon has nine sons, each different, so too are dragon veins divided into nine types:
First, the Returning Dragon; second, the Descending Dragon; third, the Living Dragon; fourth, the Flying Dragon; fifth, the Crouching Dragon; sixth, the Hidden Dragon; seventh, the Soaring Dragon; eighth, the Ocean-going Dragon; and finally, the most difficult to see, which is also known as the True Dragon Vein, the Leading Dragon.
The Tuanshanzi we see here is the Crouching Dragon, its shape crouching and stable, like a tiger lurking, an elephant standing still, an ox sleeping, or a rhinoceros lying in wait.
This could be considered an extraordinary dragon vein, and within such a vein, while it might not be the burial place of an emperor, it would certainly be a prince or general.
After hearing Bai Jing's words, everyone stared at him in a daze.
To be honest, apart from Hu Bayi who understood some of it, everyone else was completely bewildered.
Bai Jing didn't intend to explain further. Instead, he pointed to the map Sun Qiaoshan had and said, "Look, doesn't this mountain range look like a dragon lying on the ground?"
As he spoke, Bai Jing pointed to the location of the mountain ridge with the back of his pen, connecting all the mountains together.
Then I drew the ridgeline on a piece of white paper.
Upon closer inspection, everyone recognized it as a dragon lying on the ground.
Suddenly, everyone's gaze towards Bai Jing changed.
Throughout history, there have been very few feng shui masters who can find dragon veins. Even the famous tomb raiders, who are known for finding dragon veins and dividing gold, mostly do not actually know how to find dragon veins; they only know how to find the pulse.
Judging from Bai Jing's skills, he could make a living and even become rich just by doing feng shui for others, not to mention anything else.
Of course, in this day and age, there is a crackdown on this kind of thing, but no matter what, the skills that Bai Jing has shown will always be in high demand.
Chapter 30 Determining the location
Although the crowd didn't understand, they couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder.
Immediately, Hu Bayi asked, "But, Lao Bai, weren't we talking about the gold vein? Why are we talking about the dragon vein now?"
Bai Jing smiled and said, "Don't rush me, I haven't finished yet."
As he spoke, Bai Jing pointed to the map of Tuanshanzi and continued, "Under normal circumstances, there must be mineral veins within dragon veins, but what kind of minerals they are is hard to say."
Then, Bai Jing looked at Sun Qiaoshan and said, "However, what Grandpa Qiaoshan just said should be the location of the gold vein. So, we only need to confirm a few things to determine the location of the gold vein."
After saying that, Bai Jing picked up a pen and began to write and draw on the blank paper.
Soon, the shape of a grass appeared on the paper. Bai Jing pointed to the grass on the paper and said, "This is horsetail. Horsetail has green stems and branches, whorled and drooping twigs, fleshy and purplish-brown sporangia, and sporangia shaped like pen tips. It has a unique shape. Uncle Qiaoshan, have you ever seen this plant on Tuanshanzi? It would be best if it grew on a large scale."
Upon hearing this, Sun Qiaoshan looked at the grass on the paper and fell into deep thought. Then, Sun Qiaoshan said, "I've seen it before. There's a large area of this grass growing on the mountains to the north."
Bai Jing nodded and said, "It seems I guessed right. There is indeed a gold vein here, and the reserves should be quite large."
Upon hearing this, both Fatty and Hu Bayi were delighted.
If they really do discover a gold mine, they might be able to make another contribution.
In this way, their chances of returning home, joining the army, or going to school will be greatly increased.
However, it's winter now, so we can only wait until spring or summer to confirm.
Meanwhile, Sun Qiaoshan, who already held Bai Jing in high regard, now had to look at him with new eyes.
He originally thought that Bai Jing only had the skill of finding dragon veins and dividing gold, but he did not expect that Bai Jing would also be able to find minerals.
Even Hu Bayi exclaimed in admiration, "Old Bai, I'm really impressed with you today. I didn't expect you to know anything about geological exploration."
Bai Jing immediately laughed and said, "These are just the tip of the iceberg, not worth mentioning, not worth mentioning, hahaha."
Sun Qiaoshan glanced at Bai Jing and said, "This is not just a superficial matter. Although you can't cook two different dishes from the same pot, there are still some differences. The miners back then said that the gold in the mountains belonged to the Golden Immortal, so they invited a feng shui master to build a temple on the gold vein. Later, after the mountain collapsed, the temple was buried at the foot of the mountain."
Bai Jing gave Sun Qiaoshan a deep look, then calmly said, "Judging from what the old man means, if we want to find the gold vein, we must first find this temple?"
Upon hearing this, the fat man said impatiently, "Really? Then what are we waiting for? Let's get moving and go find the gold!"
Upon hearing this, Hu Bayi shook his head and said, "There's no rush. Didn't Lao Bai say that once the weather warms up and that grass grows, we should be able to confirm it? Besides, what makes you think we can find something that others haven't been able to find in decades?"
