Becoming a god by raising witches

Next to a three-story villa.
"Hannah, we've arrived."
Locke got off the carriage first, then reached out to help Hannah down.
The black cat then jumped onto Locke's head.
"Locke, are you kidding me?"
Hannah looked at the small villa and its surroundings in surprise. Rows of villas with very similar architectural styles formed a beautiful landscape. In particular, the houses were covered with snow, making it look like a fairy tale town, full of winter atmosphere.
Almost every house has a large lawn in front of it, covered with a thick layer of snow, and some houses even have snowmen piled up in front of them.
Hannah couldn't believe that she would move directly from Old Tom's apartment to this affluent neighborhood.
"I don't joke with a lady easily. So, do you still think the rent of 2 silver coins is expensive?"
Locke asked with a smile.
"It's not expensive. We only rented two bedrooms, or one bedroom? Or maybe the attic?"
Hannah asked innocently, her eyes filled with curiosity.
She doesn't actually like sharing an apartment with others, but the environment and amenities are so good. There are rows of neatly trimmed cedar trees all around, and it's only a 15-minute walk to the bustling Wells area. It only costs 2 Micks to get to Bonnie's house in the center.
With such an environment and location, the rent was well worth it, so Hannah decided to compromise and accept sharing the apartment with someone else.
"No, this place is all ours."
Locke grinned, revealing his pearly white teeth.
"Locke, are you sure?"
Hannah looked at Locke in disbelief, feeling as if her news report had suddenly won the Tumen Kingdom's top news award—it was all too unreal.
Hannah pinched her cheek to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
"Is this the place? If it is, then we're about to unload the cargo."
The coachman and the temporary movers said.
Actually, Locke and Hannah didn't have much luggage to begin with, but they bought a lot of grain to stock up during the last Baker Grain Company clearance sale, which meant they had to do a lot of physical labor when they moved.
These movers are all familiar faces in Pete Street, and each of them only needs to earn 5 meters per hour, which is quite a bargain.
Red-Nosed Alam, short Slavin, and the coachman who volunteered to join made up a total of three people.
Hannah had initially thought Locke had hired too many people, but when it came time to move, she realized that all those people would be absolutely necessary.
"This is the place. Everyone, please move your things inside. Thank you for your hard work."
Locke said.
Alam and Slavin nimbly carried the bags of flour and rice off the carriage.
The carriage tires were instantly freed, and the carriage body was moved up two centimeters.
Locke led Hannah through the front door and into the living room.
Sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows, bathing the spacious living room in a kaleidoscope of colors, much like Hannah's vibrant mood.
Hannah felt she had fallen in love with this place in an instant, even though the monthly rent of 2 silver coins really hurt her.
The floor is covered with a fluffy brown carpet. The living room connects to the dining room. There is a traditional fireplace on the wall in front of the room, and an exquisite crystal chandelier overhead. Oil paintings hang on the left and right walls. They don't look like the work of famous artists, but they match the decoration of the living room very well and add an artistic atmosphere.
Dust motes danced in the sunlight on the natural wood coffee table and reddish-brown sofa, like a group of lively little elves welcoming the new owner of the house.
The red dining table is covered with a white floral tablecloth, and there are 10 high-backed chairs on both sides.
This restaurant, large enough for 10 people, was a little too big for Locke and Hannah.
The semi-open kitchen also has ready-made cookware and tableware, including a large oven.
Locke had only ever seen this metallic lump in the kitchen of the Sixth Bureau of Oddities.
Hannah stood there, stunned. As a journalist, she had seen many mansions and interviewed some wealthy people in the area.
But she never imagined that one day she would live in a house like this.
Besides Hannah, the coachman and two movers from the West End also stood there dumbfounded.
This was the first time they had ever seen such a luxurious residence.
Their idea was that if the residents of Old Tom's Apartments wanted to move, they would at most move out of the Pater neighborhood, and it would be quite an achievement to be able to live in the Trey Bridge area. However, the carriage went all the way through Trey Bridge, through the bustling Wells area, and arrived in the Peggs area, which was basically full of wealthy people's residences.
Of course, the wealthy people here can only be considered the middle class of the kingdom, but they are still figures that the lower classes look up to.
In the Kingdom of Tumen, the bourgeoisie, though only 5% of the population, controls 60% of the nation's wealth. The royal family and nobles, comprising only 1% of the population, control 30% of the wealth. The middle class, accounting for 14% of the population, controls 9% of the nation's wealth. The commoners, comprising 60% of the population, control 1% of the nation's wealth. The 20% of the poor have no assets and may even be in debt.
The gap between the rich and the poor is enormous; crossing any social class is a huge chasm, but falling down is very easy.
For example, the transformation from ordinary citizens to the poor can be achieved simply by the enactment of a new law, a blizzard, a company layoff, or a price increase.
Nobles often indulged in extravagance to maintain appearances, leading to financial difficulties and gradually falling into the middle class. However, they refused to admit it and would use their titles to take out loans from banks to continue their lavish lifestyle until the banks completely blacklisted them and the Queen refused to bail them out.
"Hannah, are you satisfied?"
Locke patted Hannah on the shoulder.
Eileen frowned. "We need a thorough cleaning. Perhaps we can hire a maid for general tasks and a maid for laundry."
Locke broke out in a sweat and chose to ignore Eileen's unreasonable request.
Why are you already thinking about hiring servants after just moving?
I am not yet at the point where I am extremely wealthy.
"I am very satisfied, but I feel a little bad that we took advantage of the landlord."
Hannah said honestly.
The coachman and his two helpers also came to their senses and began moving things.
Locke reminded them to put the food in the kitchen, the books in the study on the second floor, and the clothes in the bedroom.
He and Hannah weren't idle either; he helped the workers move things, while Hannah was in charge of counting and checking.
Once everything was moved, Locke paid the coachman and movers and sent them off.
This time, Locke generously tipped each of them 2 mcg.
"Thank you, generous sir."
"Congratulations on your marriage."
"You've misunderstood. That beautiful lady is my sister."
When Red-Nosed Aram heard that Hannah was Locke's sister, his eyes lit up instantly, and a bright smile spread across his face.
“Young gentleman, I imagine your household must need a decent maid. My niece Nicole has just turned 16. She is intelligent, beautiful, and has stunning red hair. She is very diligent. Would you like me to introduce her to you as your maid?”
"She sounds like an inexperienced young girl. It would be better to use my aunt. My aunt is a professional maid who does odd jobs and has 10 years of experience."
The short Slavin was trying his best to promote his aunt.
"Don't think I don't know, your aunt has a kleptomania problem. That's why she was fired by her employer last time."
"You're talking nonsense. Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. You just want your seemingly innocent niece, who is actually a prostitute, to seduce the employer and try to become the mistress of this place."
The two movers were about to start fighting, both of them seeing Locke as a very wealthy fat sheep.
Locke wiped the sweat from his brow.
"I'm sorry, I have no intention of hiring maids. I'll contact you again if needed."
"Okay, you must look for me."
"Remember to look for me!"
The two were locked out and were still arguing with each other.
Although these two were familiar faces in the West End, they were not people Locke knew. To be precise, Locke did not want his acquaintances to know that he had moved here.
It's not just a matter of crossing regions, but it's also equivalent to crossing social classes, which is not a good thing for the neighbors who used to live together.
They can accept you doing well, but they can't accept you doing too well.
This is normal human psychology. If you are in trouble, they will sympathize with you; if you are doing alright, they will be happy; if you leave them far behind, they will be jealous.
Therefore, Locke only told his neighbors that he had moved, without saying that he had moved to the East End.
After dismissing the coachman and movers, Locke turned to look at Hannah, who was counting books and old newspapers.
"Come, beautiful Miss Hannah, let me show you around our future home."
Locke removed his half-high silk hat, placed it in front of his chest, bowed slightly in a gentlemanly manner, and invited Hannah to tour the villa with him.
Eileen had already seen the villa, but she didn't mind going with them to see it again, mainly to choose her own room.
Hannah put down her books and newspapers, dusted off her hands, and followed Locke.
"Then I'll trouble you, handsome Mr. Locke."
"This is the servants' quarters."
Locke went down to the small bedroom on the first floor, opened the door, and found a small bed, a desk, and a wardrobe. The actual area was not large, but it was already more spacious than Hannah's former bedroom.
"Clean it up, and I can live here now."
