Or did their ritual go wrong, and their own souls were also lost?

Locke was filled with mixed emotions, and Bud Bemont's diary greatly shocked him.

What does it say on this?

Seeing the surprised expressions on everyone's faces, Hannah couldn't help but ask.

She didn't recognize a single word of these dragon languages.

Most surprisingly, it seemed that she was the only one who didn't recognize them; Eileen, Alice, Rebecca, and Locke all seemed to know them.

"Hannah, this contains our history."

Locke said with a solemn expression.

"Background? Aren't we native Kosorks? We've lived in... wait, you mean?"

Hannah could conceive that the family history recorded in such a secretive script could not possibly belong to an ordinary Kosork family of four.

“Our parents, Bud Bemon and Joan Mannich, are not actually our parents. We were both born in the North Continent.”

Locke only mentioned this much; he didn't mention anything about the horrifying experimental subjects or the evil gods.

Saying too much might upset Hannah.

"How...how is this possible? In my memory, I watched you being born. Your parents are our parents. They have always raised us."

Hannah looked at Locke in disbelief.

"That's what's recorded in this diary. I don't know anything else. Perhaps only by finding them can we verify its authenticity."

Locke said this.

"But they, they've been missing for so long."

"Hannah said, feeling dejected."

"Hannah, go back and rest. We all need to get some rest early; we have to go to work tomorrow."

Locke patted Hannah on the shoulder.

"Locke, I don't want this to be true."

Hannah gripped Locke's hand tightly.

"Hannah, no matter what, you will always be my dearest family, and that will never change."

"Ah."

Hannah nodded and went back to her room, deep in thought.

Locke took the diary and went up to the attic.

Alice, Eileen, and Rebecca followed them upstairs.

“Great master, you don’t seem to be in a good mood. I don’t know if saying this will comfort you, but I think that as a special experimental subject, you may be more legendary than an ordinary investigator. You may be the next evil god.”

Alice believed that if she were to serve an evil god, her status would be elevated, and even if she returned to her homeland, she would not be ridiculed by her people, but would even be worshipped. This job seemed to have unlimited potential, so her comfort to Locke was genuine.

Rebecca, however, thought differently. As a demon capable of turning against her through the union of three souls, she originally had the opportunity to make Locke her servant. But if Locke and Hannah both became evil gods, then what was the point of her turning against them? She would be easily manipulated, feeling oppressed like a thorn in her back.

It would be best to make Locke back down and not become some kind of evil god. Wouldn't it be better for him to just be a good investigator?

“Locke, your soul, like Hannah's, was originally incomplete, merely a part of an evil god.”

Eileen looked at Locke thoughtfully, "It's soul transmutation. I didn't expect the Knowledge Cult to have mastered so many forbidden rituals. No wonder it's one of the oldest cults."

"I am certain that my soul is my own."

Locke said seriously that he was not a collection of 22 children's souls, nor was he a Frankenstein's monster made up of the souls of Bard Bemon and Joan Mancini. Locke believed that the soul-transformation ritual that Bard Bemon did not record in detail was definitely not as simple as piecing together souls, but perhaps similar to some kind of evil god's descent or summoning ritual.

His own soul was summoned into Locke Bemon's body by a twist of fate, replacing his already incomplete soul.

That's why I'm different from Hannah. Theoretically, my soul shouldn't have the mark of an evil god.

Of course, it's also possible that, as Bard Bemon said, they attracted a terrifying, monstrous being.

In other words, perhaps a monster is also sleeping inside one's own body.

If every test subject is like Hannah, what exactly does the Knowledge Cult want to do?

Locke was deeply disturbed by the thought.

Have you heard the legend of Cain, the creator god?

Alice suddenly said.

Locke, Eileen, and Rebecca all looked at her at the same time.

Alice swallowed and said, "This is the legend of our vampire clan. The legend says that we are the progenitor goddess Lilith. Originally, we were not goddesses, but were created by the primordial god Cain. Cain was the first vampire, and he was cursed with eternal loneliness. In order to make himself less lonely, Cain created the goddess Lilith, and Lilith created the nine progenitors of the vampire clan."

"You mean the Knowledge Cult is trying to create a god?"

Locke immediately understood what Alice meant.

Alice nodded slightly. "That's my guess."

"The Knowledge Cult originated from the Western Continent, which was destroyed in the War of the Gods. One branch of them fled to the Northern Continent. Perhaps they brought some kind of hidden power from the Western Continent, wanting to create a god who could return to the world."

Eileen analyzed.

"The Knowledge Church has such great ambitions. If this plan succeeds, the whole world will become the Knowledge Church."

"I hate the Knowledge Cult," Rebecca said angrily. "I especially hate their motto, 'Knowledge is power.'"

"I want to know if I have a problem too."

Locke looked at Eileen.

Of Rebecca, Alice, and Irene, Irene is the one he trusts the most, and also the strongest of the three.

"You need to borrow the Heart of Dreams so I can enter your dream and see if there's anything wrong with you."

Erin said.

"Okay, I'll borrow it tomorrow."

Locke said.

Eileen went back to the master bedroom to rest, Rebecca crawled into the devil's pipe, leaving only Alice behind.

Alice stared longingly at Locke.

“Great master, you don’t need to worry so much. I know a good way to relax. Would you like to try it?”

"?"

Locke looked at Alice with a puzzled expression.

Alice opened her mouth and, in front of Locke, sang a truly awful song, then proudly declared,

“Great master, when you’re unhappy, you can sing together. Singing is a pleasant activity that can relax your mind.”

"Enough, Alice, get out."

Locke was already having a headache, and her off-key singing only made it worse, so he kicked her out.

Alice pouted, feeling wronged, and left the attic.

Rebecca, the devil inside the pipe, cursed inwardly.

"Damn vampire, looks like the first thing I'll have to do to eat her is eat that lousy, broken throat."

The following day, the bells of the Cathedral of Life roused Locke.

Locke stood up and saw Alice dressed in a maid outfit with a sweet smile.

Good morning, my great master.

We must serve the evil god well.

Alice thought so.

Locke narrowed his eyes. "What are you doing here? Is breakfast ready?"

“I’m all ready. I got up at 4 a.m. today and prepared your favorite breakfast.”

"Damn vampire, why are you up so early?"

Rebecca floated out of the pipe, looking at Alice, who was dressed in a glamorous manner.

“Lady Rebecca, as my master’s personal maid, I must get up earlier than him.”

Alice said with a smile.

"Personal maid?"

Locke and Rebecca spoke in unison.

Alice nodded shyly. "Yes, because our great master doesn't have a personal maid, and Alice feels she can do the job."

Locke wiped the sweat from his brow, and was about to refuse Alice when he heard Rebecca say...

"Who says Locke doesn't have a personal maid? His personal maid is in the manor, and her name is Minnie."

Minnie? Isn't that the short, black skeleton? She was killed for having an affair, leaving a deep impression on Locke.

Locke shuddered involuntarily; comparing the two, he still felt Alice was better.
