Becoming a god by raising witches

"Get 'em!"
Eileen frowned. "Did I get caught too?"
"Let's go, let's go to the next floor."
Eileen pushed Locke into the passageway at the foot of the bed again, and she followed him in.
This time, as soon as they arrived at the room, the dream monsters from the upper floor chased after them through the passage.
Eileen and Locke didn't have time to check their surroundings and could only flee in panic.
The two ran out of Old John's apartment, with the dream monsters close behind, emitting eerie cackling laughter.
"I've got you, I've got you, I've got you, I've got you."
Their sounds echoed around them, increasing the sense of urgency between the two.
"Why can't I use my supernatural abilities in my dream? Isn't this my dream?"
Locke asked.
"I don't know. Maybe it's because you didn't originally belong to this body. You're different from the other test subjects. You were born. Maybe you have another soul, and this dream belongs to him."
Eileen guessed.
"Then why are you afraid of those monsters? Aren't you very powerful?"
Locke asked again.
"The strength of a dream monster is directly proportional to the strength of its host's consciousness. Like you, I am an external consciousness. I can entangle with them, but once captured, I will be imprisoned and locked in your dream forever. If it were a dream monster from an ordinary person's subconscious, it would be nothing to me, but you are a vessel of an evil god created by the Church of Knowledge."
"So, the monsters in my dreams will be extremely powerful?"
"We haven't seen any yet, but there are a lot of them. We can't rule out the possibility that one or two of them are particularly strong and haven't appeared yet. We must be cautious."
Locke thought Eileen's words made sense. If he really was the vessel of an evil god, there might be particularly powerful dream monsters in the world of consciousness. Just in case, it was best not to confront them head-on.
In addition, when those monsters stick to your body, you feel a burning sensation for no reason, which is very uncomfortable.
He couldn't let Eileen stand alone against those guys just because she was strong.
The two rushed out of the apartment and onto Pete Street.
The dream monsters surged out of the building like a black tide, tracking their target.
Using Locke's familiarity with the terrain, he dodged and weaved, finally avoiding most of the dream monsters.
However, he was still being chased by some of the dream monsters and was forced to jump into the Kosol River.
Locke felt as if his body was sinking into the sea.
In the water, the monsters' faces gradually emerged.
The water plants, fish, and shrimp of the Kosol River transformed into dream monsters, which entangled Locke.
Just as Locke felt he was about to suffocate, Eileen cleaved through the seaweed monsters and pulled him ashore.
"Locke, this is already deep in the subconscious. Do not enter the water lightly, or you may easily fall into the deep sea of the subconscious."
No sooner had Eileen said that than she discovered that all the streets of Kosol around her had disappeared, replaced by islands floating on the ocean.
"That was close, I almost thought I was going to drown."
Locke took deep breaths of fresh air and spat out the water that had accumulated in his mouth.
Eileen patted Locke on the shoulder. "We have to be careful."
"Hmm, is this the deep sea of the subconscious?"
"It seems so, the truth may be hidden here."
On the vast sea, scattered islands drift, each one like an isolated island, unconnected and far apart from one another.
Waves crashed against the shore, the seawater not blue, but black, like ink.
Suddenly, Locke heard a rumbling sound.
A tsunami, tens of meters high, surged from the sea and rushed toward the island.
Eileen reached out, wrapped her arms around Locke's waist, and lifted him up in her arms. Her silver hair spread out and grew longer and longer, eventually tangling into two huge braids.
The braids resembled a pair of long legs, stepping on the sand and sending the two of them into the sky.
Locke didn't have time to marvel at how [long hair art] could be done in this way; he stared solemnly at the distant tsunami.
As they rise to a height exceeding that of the tsunami, they can see that what caused the tsunami is a colossal entity.
A gigantic serpent covered in black scales.
The ocean appears black because it reflects the colors on its surface.
Compared to the giant serpent, Locke and Eileen were as insignificant as dust.
The giant serpent had a circular mark on its head, and its golden eyes were like two suns.
The dream monsters that had been chasing after them all fled in panic the moment they saw the giant serpent, as if they had seen the most terrifying being.
Locke swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing. He had only just seen the giant black snake when he felt a stinging pain in his eyes, and bright red blood was already seeping from the corners of his eyes.
Blood also flowed from Eileen's eyes as she clutched the Heart of Dreams pocket watch.
"Walk."
Using the Heart of Dreams, Eileen and Locke were able to exit the dream in time.
However, their bodies were still severely corroded, and they were emitting black smoke.
“We must seek purification from the Life Cult.”
Eileen clutched her chest and coughed up a mouthful of black blood.
Locke was in no better condition than her; all his teeth and hair had fallen out, his body was shrouded in black mist, he coughed incessantly, and his body was in excruciating pain.
"What, what's going on?"
Locke asked weakly.
"Locke, your problem is very serious."
"Am I going to die?"
Locke covered his throat, his voice becoming incredibly hoarse.
He pulled a tattered puppet from his arms; it was the substitute puppet numbered C166.
"If it weren't for it, you would indeed die once and then be reborn."
Eileen tossed the now useless C166 aside, and the substitute puppet turned to ashes and disappeared.
What does "dying once and being reborn once" mean?
Locke asked, puzzled. Although it was difficult to speak, he still wanted to know what Eileen meant.
"The nine test subjects represent darkness, light, misfortune, fortune, life, death, malice, and goodwill. You are the last one, representing infinity. The black serpent hidden deep in your subconscious is called the Infinity Serpent. It can evolve into the abyss, devouring, endlessness, and reincarnation. It has already begun to possess divinity, which is why we suffer harm when we look directly at it."
Eileen explained to Locke,
"The Infinity Serpent can resurrect you, so even if your body dies, you can be resurrected again. Legend has it that the number of rings on the Infinity Serpent's head determines how many times it can be reborn. Since it only has one ring, it means you can only be reborn once."
"That's actually the case."
Locke suddenly realized, but he was still very upset.
"Rebecca."
"Eileen called out."
Rebecca, who was dozing at the door, immediately opened her eyes and rushed in. She was startled to see the two people enveloped in black mist.
"Where did you go on your adventures? What terrifying being did you provoke to end up like this?"
"Alright, Rebecca, take us to find Lux."
Eileen said directly, and her body transformed into a black cat once again.
Rebecca nodded, transformed into a white mist, and carried Locke and Eileen out the door.
The white mist flew towards the church and found the most beautiful nun, Lux, in the prayer room.
The white mist transformed back into Rebecca, and Locke and Eileen lay on the ground.
"Lux, Locke and his cat have been contaminated. Please cleanse them."
Although Rebecca disliked Lux, she trusted her professional abilities and spoke to her politely.
Lux didn't ask any questions and immediately began purifying and healing Locke and Eileen.
Half an hour later, both of them gradually recovered.
Lux, covered in sweat, sat weakly on the ground.
"It's fine. As long as you go back and rest for a day or two, you'll be fine."
"Thank you, Lux."
Locke said, his hair and teeth growing back.
If it weren't for Lux, he would probably only appear as a young old man.
