Davidian's Holy Grail War

At this point, Tonelli suggested that Tristan lead the way, as Tristan's presence would make things much easier in Cornwall.
"Of course, please follow me, it is a knight's duty to serve beautiful ladies."
Tristan laughed and turned to lead the two men to him. He had already determined that they meant no harm. Therefore, he naturally felt he should make amends for his earlier rudeness.
David and Tonelli approached him, and out of curiosity, he couldn't help but ask, "Tristan, is this harp your weapon? Was that the attack you just launched?"
Hearing his question, Tristan couldn't help but frown slightly, but he still answered:
“No, this is not a harp, but a longbow. This is my beloved bow—Filnot. And the attack just now was indeed launched from this bow.”
"A bow? This thing? You call this a bow?"
Davidian was at a loss for words. Calling this thing a bow was really absurd. Any skilled bow user in the world would be puzzled.
Tristan has fundamentally misunderstood what a bow is.
Davidian's gaze towards Tristan was a little off; he felt that this man was somewhat naive and odd.
Chapter 25 Tristan, the "Passionate" One
"Wow, it's Lord Tristan! Is he on patrol today too?"
"Ah~ Lord Tristan's beautiful face, if he were to look at me even once, my heart would probably stop beating right now."
"Sir Tristan! Sir Tristan!"
The shouts from those around him left David speechless for a moment. Was this the celebrity effect? He hadn't really noticed it before, but seeing it with his own eyes now, he found it outrageous.
So it turns out that idol worship isn't just a phenomenon of the 21st century; such exaggerated cases already existed in the distant 5th century.
"What's wrong? Are you envious?" Tonelli teased him. David tilted his head and glanced at her, his eyes filled with helplessness at this moment.
"Why would I envy this thing? Although it is indeed something to be proud of, it also depends on whether the person being admired is willing to accept the admiration of others."
I don't know what Secretary Tristan is thinking, but I myself am not willing to do it that way.
David's words were somewhat offensive to Tristan, but he was outspoken and said them anyway.
Upon hearing his words, Tristan laughed openly:
"It is indeed pleasant to receive praise from others, but what saddens me is that they praise me not for my abilities but for my appearance, which is somewhat regrettable and a pity."
However, perhaps this is because I haven't yet accumulated more merit. But, in David Anqing's eyes, am I that kind of person? Do I seem vain and greedy?
"No, not at all. Rather, it would be more rude to make such a comment about someone you haven't known well."
"However, I understand your thoughts, Lord Tristan. As a fine knight, you certainly hope that people will speak of your abilities and achievements more than your appearance."
Davidian could certainly understand Tristan's thoughts. As a person with enough pride and self-esteem, such praise alone would not make him lose his way.
David's words cheered Tristan up; it's easy for young people to get to know each other through such heartfelt conversations.
Not to mention that they are both warriors with exceptional abilities, making it even easier for them to gain each other's approval.
At this point, Tonelli felt completely out of the loop; the conversation between the men left her, as a woman, unsure of what to say.
Although the two people in front of her were much younger than her, she still felt that she shouldn't interfere.
"Speaking of which, why hasn't a swordsman as excellent as you been granted the title of knight? I am saddened... Could it be that there are no discerning kings in this Britain who can recognize talent? Why are people like you left to wander around without being recruited?"
Tristan gently plucked a string, producing a sorrowful melody that represented his inner thoughts and feelings.
But David simply shook his head slightly: "Things are not as you think. Tristan, you should also know about the upcoming day of the King's Election."
"Ah, I know. It was prophesied by the great magician Merlin that on that day, the one who pulls out the Sword of the Chosen King will be the king who rules all of Britain."
“That’s right. I have made a pact to serve the one who drew the Sword of the King. If I am to be knighted, I will have to wait until that time. Until then, I am just honing myself so that I can better serve the King.”
As Davidan spoke, he gripped the dark sword at his waist. Artoria was not the kind of person who would let him down.
Tristan sensed the firmness in his words and said nothing more on the matter. He then pointed to the palace ahead and slowly said:
"That is King Mark's residence. Gentlemen, please be serious from now on. Although the King doesn't care much about these things, the ministers in the court always like to fuss over these formalities. I will assign you tasks after I finish my report to King Mark for today."
David and Tonelli nodded, tidying themselves up somewhat. They then followed Tristan into the palace. The guards along the way, seeing that they were brought in by Lord Tristan, did not question them further.
The three of them entered the palace hall and finally saw King Mark sitting on the throne, leaning to one side, propping his head up with one hand, and closing his eyes in thought.
"Your Majesty, today's border patrol is complete. Everything is as usual, without any abnormalities." Tristan paused and reported the day's patrol findings to his uncle, who sat on the throne.
Upon hearing his words, King Mark slowly opened his eyes. He first looked at Tristan, then at Tonelli and David behind him.
David noticed that King Mark's eyes scrutinized Toneric before looking at himself and the dark sword at his waist.
"Thank you for your hard work, Lord Tristan. Also, when we're alone, you can call me Uncle. My sister entrusted you to me, so naturally I should take good care of you."
King Mark smiled. His concern for Tristan was genuine; after all, Tristan was his nephew and a knight of exceptional ability. Both out of courtesy and reason, he should take better care of Tristan.
“Yes, Uncle.” Tristan smiled. He had received a lot of care from Tristan in his growth to where he was now, and he always felt a sense of care for the man in front of him.
"Are these two people behind you your new friends? This young man... he has a good sword, and judging from his eyes, he is probably a knight no less than you."
King Mark showed interest in Davian; it was a pity that he only had Tristan under his command, and it would be better if he could have one more.
Tristan nodded and introduced Davian and Tonelli to King Mark. Upon hearing about Davian, King Mark said nothing more.
Since he wants to follow the one who will pull out the Sword of the King in the future, then let him go. No one can stop him. After all, loyalty is an important quality of a knight, and someone who runs away easily is rather meaningless.
However, when Tristan mentioned Toneric, King Mark couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness.
King Uther, look at the terrible fate you've created. There's bound to be a bloody storm between them in the future.
Sigh, I should have stopped King Uther from doing that back then.
So what if the island's power is gradually waning? The people living on this island are living, breathing human beings, so naturally, the affairs of Vortigern should be resolved by these living, breathing human beings.
"I see. Then you can arrange their next steps."
There just so happens that a caravan trading furs and grain with the Kingdom of Benwick is about to depart. Go and talk to them and ask them to take these two along.
You also need to make sure you have everything you need along the way, understand?
This was a favor, and King Mark thought it was fine. After all, he was well aware of his own abilities, and asking him to be the leader would be too much of a stretch.
Do David Andrew a favor now, so that when you share the profits later, he'll remember your kindness.
"I understand, and will obey Your Majesty's command."
Chapter 26 The Unlucky, Passionate Man
Tristan and Mark King talked about other things until the end of their conversation. Suddenly, Mark King said:
“Tristan, I would like to trouble you with the matter in Ireland. After all, you are the person I trust most right now, and the most capable knight in the kingdom. If you go, I am sure you will be able to handle it without any problems.”
Upon hearing King Mark's words, Tristan instinctively tightened his grip on Philnott. This small action went unnoticed by King Mark, but it did not escape the eyes of David, who was standing much closer.
David was somewhat surprised. What could possibly make Tristan so unconsciously tense? Even a knight as extraordinary as him was having trouble controlling himself.
You have to understand that in David's eyes, how could someone as gentle as a breeze possibly stir up his emotions and turn that gentle breeze into a tornado?
“I understand, Uncle. I will personally lead the team to Ireland at that time. I will get it done.”
Tristan's tone remained the same, but David could tell that Tristan was definitely not feeling well inside. He became even more curious; what exactly was this matter concerning Ireland?
“Then I shall take my leave. Uncle, please get some rest as well.” Tristan bowed, indicating that he was about to depart.
King Mark, of course, did not stop them, and let the three of them slowly leave the palace and go to Tristan's residence.
His house was quite large; two more people could easily live there. However, despite its size, he lived alone, without even a servant. This demonstrates Tristan's self-discipline and frugality.
"You two can stay here for a few days. After I've taken care of everything, you can set off for France."
"You guys are really lucky; there just happens to be a caravan heading to the Kingdom of Benwick."
As Tristan spoke, he put down his Philnott and untied his cloak, hanging it on the nearby coat rack. He could relax more at home, without the same constraints as outside.
After Tristan finished speaking, he picked up a smaller harp from the side, sat on the windowsill, and began to play slowly.
The melody contained the sadness in his heart, and even someone like David, who was not familiar with music, could hear how sorrowful and painful Tristan's heart was at that moment.
Clearly, what Mark Wang mentioned earlier was indeed closely related to him.
David pulled up a chair and sat down next to him, while Tonelli watched the two men from a distance.
She could hear the sadness in Tristan's voice, but in her opinion, it was pointless to get involved, or even just to listen to the story.
After listening for a while, David finally spoke: "Your heart is in turmoil, like the waves of the sea. What could possibly have caused the world-renowned Lord Tristan to be so distraught? What exactly is the matter concerning Ireland?"
Tristan stopped plucking the strings, and only then did Davidian notice his slender, graceful fingers—hands that shouldn't be used to wield weapons, but rather to caress a lover's face and whisper words of affection.
"That was not long ago, right after I defeated Sir Mahans. Although I won that battle, I was also badly wounded."
To save my life, I was sent to Ireland. There, I received treatment from Princess Isolde. For the first time, I experienced the joy called love with her.
At this point, he sighed, recalling the words Isolde had spoken to him when they parted that day.
I will never marry without your consent; and I will marry whomever you desire.
Isolde spoke these words to him with tears in her eyes, and Tristan, at the time, had no idea why she would say such a thing, and was completely bewildered. It wasn't until he returned to Cornwall that he understood the meaning of her words.
"I originally planned to find a good opportunity to ask her for marriage after I came back."
However, after I went to Ireland, my uncle announced that he would propose to the beautiful and gentle Princess Isolde of Ireland and would send me, after I recovered from my injuries, to bring gifts to marry her.
