Davidian's Holy Grail War

“I will not let this go unpunished. I must find my king! Bedivere, I am deeply ashamed of you. In this final moment, you, who were trusted by her and were her last knight, have committed such a heinous crime!”
David turned away, no longer intending to pay attention to Bedivere behind him; he had to find the King.
If my king desires death, then I will personally take his place.
If our king has other plans, then he will once again pledge his loyalty to our king.
Stop now, Davidian. What follows is no longer your concern; it's Bedivere's business. Why meddle? The story of Britain is over.
David knew perfectly well who the voice belonged to, but he answered with the angrier, more cruel tone of his voice: "No! It's not over yet. I will decide the ending of this story!"
Chapter 164 End of Volume Summary
As mentioned in previous comments, after the main chapters conclude, there will be a volume-end summary to address some of your questions and share my thoughts. Okay, let's go through them one by one.
Let's talk about the problems between David Ann and Morgan first; they were basically tormenting each other.
Morgan is the kind of guy who goes out to try and get himself into trouble. He just wanted to mess with Davidian, even if he couldn't use him himself, he wanted to ruin him so that Artoria and the others wouldn't be able to use him properly.
As you all saw, what happened next was disastrous.
However, there is absolutely no doubt that these two people were in love. Davidian kept the headband he had given to Morgan for many years, while Morgan never forgot Davidian.
As for David's life problems... there's no doubt that Morgan ruined it, although David doesn't hate Morgan.
Ultimately, these are problems stemming from his own choices, and he should bear the bitter consequences alone. In this regard, David An absolutely does not want to involve others, nor does he want to share this psychological burden with anyone else.
He never expected that Morgan would secretly give birth to a daughter for him, and he hadn't even been able to protect Gareth. What a tragedy.
Oh, and while I'm at it, I'd like to take this opportunity to talk about what would have happened if Morgan hadn't acted recklessly. David's original fate in Britain was the timeline I mentioned in the comments, the timeline of David and Guinevere.
After parting ways with Merlin, David will travel alone throughout Britain, and then in Camryd he will solve many problems for King Rodgerence and be appreciated.
At this moment, it was only natural for him to fall in love with Guinevere, and their feelings for each other gradually intensified.
However, after that, Davian's job remained unchanged; he would still help Artoria unify the whole of Britain.
And after defeating Vortigern (the evil dragon will inevitably return to Davian's hands at this point), Davian will return to Camred and marry Guinevere.
Not long after that, King Rodgerns abdicated and entrusted the entire kingdom to David and Guinevere.
The battles against Rome and the Saxons will likely remain largely unchanged. After several years of happy life with Guinevere, Davian will have a child. He will become friends with everyone at the Round Table, but his relationship with Artoria will not be as close as it was in the prequel.
Then, ten to fifteen years later, due to the island's continuously deteriorating situation and Artoria's "oppression" of the people...
At this point, David will be elected as the leader by the kings of the island and will be forced to raise the banner of rebellion against Artoria.
With the power of the evil dragon, Davidon single-handedly defeated all the remaining Knights of the Round Table, including Lancelot who had come to rescue them after completing the grain trade. Only Lord Keir and Lord Bedivere survived.
Finally, he raised his sword and engaged in the Battle of Camlann with Artoria, and the two reached a mutual understanding and ultimately perished together.
Davidian died first, and Artoria followed suit after Lord Bedivere returned the sword three times.
In later generations, Artoria was portrayed as a tyrant who oppressed the people, while Davidian was depicted as a heroic lord who resisted the tyrant. However, when I think about that version, I think it's better to leave it at that; it shouldn't be like that.
Incidentally, Artoria's physical body here does not grow, meaning that, due to inertia, she will still primarily use Excalibur as her weapon.
Now let's talk about his relationship with Artoria. David always felt a sense of guilt towards Artoria that he himself was unaware of.
In other words, in the beginning, Davian made the choice to allow the timeline to proceed normally, abandoning Morgan but also choosing Artoria's tragic end.
Therefore, he was always reckless in his devotion to Artoria, even though he himself was no longer aware of the guilt he felt.
And Artoria did indeed change. She truly realized the limits of humanity, understood the fate of Britain, and stopped lamenting.
This is what Lancelot hoped to achieve in the original text: he hoped that Artoria would punish him, the Knight of the Lake, so that he would understand the limits of humanity.
It's not that I look down on Lancelot; it has nothing to do with his character or strength. It's just that Lancelot came too late.
By the time Lancelot joined the Round Table, Artoria's personality and inner world had fully taken shape. He joined the Round Table as a subject and a friend.
Not to mention that even without Davian, Artoria would have regarded Lancelot as an exemplary knight.
That would be even worse, turning it into the original timeline where Artoria never intended to punish Lancelot and continued to view everything with a detached attitude.
Davidan's advantage over Lancelot was that he met Artoria earlier. Compared to his sworn brother Kai, everything between Davidan and Artoria touched Artoria more.
After walking side by side for so many years, when Davidan was on the verge of a mental breakdown, Artoria realized that it was truly over and everyone needed to rest.
This dark age has turned everyone except her into this. Therefore, Artoria no longer insists on those things, but chooses to do her best and have a clear conscience.
In the original timeline, our queen was a lonely person, detached from everyone, observing everyone's stories. She understood the logic behind everyone's actions, bearing the loneliness of a king and a hero, and then running wildly down a dead end.
But there was David here, her friend. Although they were ruler and subject, they were always equals. So, while the king comforted David, he also found comfort in David.
Not to mention that David Ann was actually even lonelier than her, just as David Ann said, he came from a much better era than this one.
He was even more of an outsider than Artoria. He had indeed integrated into Britain, but in essence, he was always an anomaly, a being different from everyone else. So it was perfectly normal for him and Artoria to find solace in each other.
Oh, and by the way, as long as you know Davidan, no matter what form Artoria takes, she would never cry out to the world during the Battle of Camlann to summon the Counterforce.
If Artoria were to be summoned again in the Fourth and Fifth Holy Grail Wars, it would be because her sword sheath is still intact. It wouldn't be because she's pursuing the Holy Grail, and her mindset would have changed.
This is what change is all about. I've read the comments too. You guys always talk about changing the world, changing destiny, and things like that.
But my mindset in writing the prequel is this: all the prophecies that the prophets can see and act upon are prerequisites for fulfilling the prophecy.
So I haven't changed the basic direction much; the prediction will eventually come true.
Stop talking about mass killing. What's the point of mass killing? What Davidian always wanted was a better future. Massacres would only hasten the collapse of Britain.
Rather, it's more accurate to say that someone in a high position who acts arbitrarily is simply insane.
However, some things have been changed. For example, as mentioned above, Artoria will not attract the restraining force in Camlann, and Lancelot in the prequel gained inner forgiveness through death.
Camelot, who was originally only supposed to last ten years, was extended for another year by Davidian. He really did his best, but that was all he could do.
Oh, and there's the issue of the Evil King Dragon. That's easy to explain. It was originally a force that Davian prepared to suppress all the kings of Britain, including Gawain and King Perinoa.
This refers to the hidden power behind Davian's plan to suppress the entire Britannia, as discussed with Agravan. With the Evil King Wyvern as the vanguard, Davian led the First Legion, unleashing its full power. So what if Gawain was three times stronger? He directly destroyed the Holy Sword Seal.
However, this plan was rejected by the King, so Davidian gave up. From then on, when it wasn't just about simple harmony at the Round Table, both civil and military officials were involved, and this power was temporarily shelved and not used.
It wasn't until Lancelot made a series of disastrous moves that Davian finally lost his temper and used the Evil King Dragon to chop Lancelot to pieces.
Then let's talk about David's life over the past twenty-odd years. You might say he had a great life... but he lost his daughter, lost the person he loved, and even after persevering to the end, he was betrayed and killed. It seems he left nothing behind except his posthumous reputation.
It can be said that he has truly suffered and toiled his entire life. Although Davidan has no complaints about it, apart from the Gareth issue, Davidan has basically no regrets.
But if you were to say he was unhappy... well, he did take a bite out of both of the twin sisters, which would be an achievement in a game. But compared to the hardships he's endured in his life, it doesn't seem like much at all.
As for Britain, Davidian was an absolute hero. There's no doubt about that, and you shouldn't worry about what Davidian was thinking.
Judging a person solely by their thoughts is meaningless; what Davidian did was basically the limit of what he could do for the people of Britain.
For the people of Britain, for the kingdom, and for Artoria, Davian did everything he could.
As for how Britain ended up this way, it's basically because these people started to throw away their former rationality.
Agravan lost his rationality because of Lancelot's affair; Lancelot lost his rationality because of the Queen; Gawain lost his rationality because of the murder of his siblings; Davian lost his rationality because of the collapse of the Round Table and the loss of Gareth; and Our King lost his rationality because of Davian's murder.
In summary, it was a series of tragedies.
As for David's early romantic relationships, that's the author's problem; having little romantic experience himself, he could only imitate. The final product was rather clumsy; after all, that's my limit. Please bear with it.
Next, let's talk about the Mordred Rebellion, and look at it from a different perspective.
Assuming she didn't betray him, and Artoria returned from her expedition and continued to forcibly maintain Britain with Davian, even if Mordred later died of old age, the rebellion would still have started.
However, by then, in the legends, Davian and Artoria will no longer be the lords and kings who protect Britain, but rather cruel lords and tyrants who oppress the people.
From the world's perspective, Mordred's betrayal effectively cut off this possibility, allowing the legends of Davian and Artoria to be passed down as heroes to posterity. The price was that Mordred was branded a traitor.
That is to say, it was only at this point that I suddenly realized that I really do favor Artoria, and that I should never let Artoria bear the title of tyrant.
Even if it means driving Morgan mad, tormenting Davian for life, and branding Mordred as a traitor, Artoria must be remembered as a hero for posterity.
To let the world know that there once was a queen who led her loyal Knights of the Round Table in rebellion against enemies outside the island and against the world, with the intention of bringing a better life to the people.
Finally, a few words: my writing idol... is Toshiki Inoue. Readers who watch a lot of tokusatsu (special effects) should be familiar with his style, so my twists and turns tend to lean towards that style.
However, I'm not as outrageous as Min Gui, after all, I won't give you something like a suited mannequin of Zuo Ai.
Oh, that person from Qidian is me. I came to Qidian purely because nobody read my books there, I was starving, and there was hardly any commenting or interaction. Writing alone was just too lonely, so I switched to another platform. This book is currently at chapter 224, so you can read it without worry. Also, please leave comments and urge me to update, and help boost the reading data. I'm counting on you guys!
Alright, tomorrow is Volume 3, which is also the true ending of the prequel to Davidian. Everyone, please continue reading.
Chapter 165 Exile
In the cargo container storage area of the harbor, a battle unknown to the public is unfolding.
The battle between swordswoman Artoria and spearman Diarmuid was interrupted by the arrival of knight Iskandar, after which the golden king Gilgamesh appeared atop a lamppost. (I don't care, lamppost, lamppost, lamppost)
As the group conversed, three kings were present. The golden king stood arrogantly above the crowd. The blue king gripped an invisible blade, tense and wary. The red king, however, carefully observed and deduced the true names of the others.
However, just as the golden king, enraged, prepared to launch an attack, a hole opened in the sky. A scorching fireball fell from it, landing precisely between the group and forcing all four Servants present to retreat.
The swordsman swiftly retreated, using his body as a shield to protect the woman in white; the cavalryman used his cloak to protect his young master; and the spearman used his twin spears to immobilize himself. Only the golden archer landed on the ground, looking displeased. However, when he looked at the scorching fireball, his displeasure vanished, replaced by respect and a sigh.
When the scorching fireball dissipated, it revealed a knight in armor; he was none other than Davian Sleigh. Now, regaining his senses, he surveyed the world around him before roaring to the heavens:
"That damned magician! How dare he banish me from that world! I was on the verge of winning the Holy Grail War!"
His roar unleashed a violent surge of magical energy that transformed into tangible flames that erupted in all directions. This heavy surge of magical energy even rendered the four Servants present unable to move.
