Chapter 113 Rules are indeed meant to be broken.
Wizette recalled, "The Parkinson family attacked me before I enrolled, but I was saved thanks to Professor McGonagall's timely arrival."
"And at Hogwarts, Slytherin wasn't very friendly to me either, so I... really don't have a good impression of them."
"The Parkinson family, huh... Heh..." Voldemort chuckled coldly. "Go to the next room! I'll give you an 'O' for this one; you did an excellent job!"
Vizette nodded, "Hmm..."
Is this how you treat a professor?
"Thank you for the compliment, Professor..."
"This is what you deserve."
Behind this door is a huge chessboard, and the size of the chess pieces may have been based on Hagrid's size, with both black and white pieces being quite large.
The chess pieces are not only tall but also very imposing, all clad in armor or robes and holding weapons, making them look incredibly lifelike.
Voldemort spoke up: "Wizard chess, that should be Ravenclaw's forte... Perhaps you don't have any weaknesses? How do you plan to win?"
“Wizard chess happens to be my weak point,” Vizette said with a light cough. “Although I know the rules, I never play it.”
Voldemort asked, somewhat surprised, "Oh? You never play?"
Vizette nodded. "Studying already takes up too much of my time... If my roommates want to play Wizard Chess, I'll be the referee."
"Ha!" Voldemort sneered. "Ravenclaw! But I'd love to see you get your comeuppance."
Vizette asked expertly, "If you were a professor, how would you get through here?"
"Use Obscurity on the chessboard!" Voldemort's tone was laced with malice. "Destroy the entire chessboard!"
"All right……"
Wizette strode forward until the white pieces revealed their weapons to him, at which point he stopped.
“My students, you can’t just force your way in!” Voldemort laughed. “I can teach you on the spot; there are a few dark spells that are perfect for this place.”
Wizette remained noncommittal, gazing at the enormous chessboard as he pondered his next move...
The rules of Wizard Chess are similar to those of chess, but the biggest difference is the pieces themselves, which move according to the commands of the player.
The so-called "eating" of the opponent's piece is represented by "destruction" in Wizard Chess. One side's piece will destroy the opponent's piece and then drag it off the board.
"Are rules really that important to wizards?" Vizet muttered to himself.
He sensed a certain inspiration, but he was still a little short of grasping it.
"Professor Fu...you just said...destroy the entire chessboard?"
Voldemort was quite intrigued. "Want to try it? Aggressive dark magic?"
“Destruction…that’s a good idea.” Vizette suddenly had an idea and walked back to the opposite piece, seemingly observing something.
He observed for a while before returning to the rear to take the position of the black king and command the pieces to begin the game.
The rules of Wizard Chess are similar to those of chess, with White moving first.
After a chaotic series of moves by Wizette, White completely overwhelmed Black, and he readily surrendered.
Voldemort, on the other hand, was quite pleased and said cheerfully, "How unexpected... My student, are you perhaps about to acquire a troll?"
Wizette remained calm, taking out her notebook to record, "The pieces are very flexible... have strong attack power... and react very quickly. They will respond immediately as soon as I give them a command!"
He drew a five-pointed star at the end of the last message as a highlight.
"It seems you don't intend to solve this problem in the conventional way?" Voldemort asked with interest.
"Did you know that Slytherin has a famous saying, 'Contempt for the law is Slytherin's instinct'?"
“Is that so?” Vizette replied, taking a piece of parchment from her backpack, crumpling it into a ball, and practicing her transformation magic on it.
Voldemort looked at the objects that Vizet had transformed into, then looked Vizet up and down again, a hint of amazement in his eyes.
He already understood what Vizet wanted to do.
After a while, Vizette exhaled, stuffed the crumpled paper back into his backpack, and said loudly, "That should be enough! We can begin!"
This time, instead of replacing the black king, he chose to become a pawn.
After the white pieces on the opposite side made their move, Wizette, standing in the center of the board, pointed directly at the white king on the opposite side and exclaimed, "A skillful variation!"
The white king's color gradually deepened, transforming into the shape of the black king.
Vizette immediately turned around and cast her shapeshifting spell again, "Transformation Mastery!"
The black king also undergoes a change, its dark black color transforming into pure white...
Become a white king who has penetrated deep into the enemy's territory.
"Phew...it's my turn now!" Vizette let out a long breath. "Checkmate!"
boom!
Suddenly, all of Black's pieces began to rotate, revealing their weapons to the rear. The Black Queen raised her scepter and swung it fiercely at the White King.
Debris flew everywhere, and the once-complete white king was reduced to half its body as the black queen dragged it off the board.
Then came a long silence, until the white pieces on the opposite side started to move rapidly, retreating to the sides of the board and making way for Wizette and his team.
“Excellent! Excellent!” Voldemort’s tone was much more enthusiastic. “Another ‘O’, my student!”
Vizette let out a sigh of relief. "Rules are indeed meant to be broken!"
“I can give you a hint for the next level, Vizet.” Voldemort was in a good mood. “The next level is Quirinus’s doing, an even more powerful mountain behemoth.”
"It should be easy to deal with, right? Whether it's the Obscurus or the Curse of Sickness, it can be easily dealt with... Of course, if you're willing to come with me, I can also do some exercises..."
“I have a better idea!” Vizette smiled slightly, holding up the withered devil's net in her hand. “That's why I've been carrying it with me. It seems it's always good to be safe just in case!”
As soon as Vizet opened the iron gate, a stench hit him, and he could hear snores.
"The pitch-black environment is indeed perfect for sleeping... and also perfect for the Devil's Web to feast on!"
He rolled the oil paper into a ball the size of a Quake ball, quickly threw it into the dark room, and then closed the iron door again.
The battle between the Devil's Web and the Mountain Giants has begun.
Even just by the tremors of the ground, the sound of bricks collapsing, and the roars of the giants, one could guess how intense the battle was.
Finally, accompanied by a series of teeth-grinding sounds of bones shattering, the ground stopped trembling and returned to calm.
"Lumos!"
Vizette followed the same method, illuminating the entire room before entering the room where the troll was.
Bathed in the light, the dust swirling from the collapsed walls danced wildly like mosquitoes, a dense and alarming sight...
Chapter 114 Dumbledore, you don't want to come out?
When Vizette saw the troll's corpse, she murmured, "Professor Sprout was right. The Devil's Web has an astonishing ability to strangle, and it can even effectively kill trolls..."
The giant's bones were almost completely shattered, and it lay there like a lump of flesh, with a few ribs protruding from its skin, making it look particularly ferocious.
The devil's web that caused all this, however, shrank back into a ball because it feared the light.
They could easily crush the giant, yet they are hampered by a simple magical illumination spell...
For some reason, Wizette suddenly thought of the rules of Animal Chess: the mouse can eat the elephant.
The next level is in a small room with a table on it containing seven different potions, along with corresponding riddles.
The moment the doors closed, purple and black flames rose up, engulfing both doors in the room.
Voldemort stepped past Vizet and tapped lightly on the table.
The potion bottles on top immediately changed positions, but after only a few seconds, they returned to their original order.
"Hehe... How interesting! Since you want to play games, let's go!"
Vizette detected a hint of contempt, and a certain eagerness...excitement, in Voldemort's voice.
Voldemort said in a low voice, "My student, these two levels are too boring. Let's go wait for the other guests!"
He didn't glance at the potion on the table again, but simply waved his wand, extinguishing the flames.
Vizette followed closely behind, and could faintly hear Harry's voice: "We don't have to deal with the trolls anymore! Ugh... let's go, it stinks here... ugh!"
-------------------------------------
Forced to use a full-body binding charm on Neville, Harry, Hermione, and Ron finally reached the fourth-floor corridor after some twists and turns.
"The corridor door is open!" Harry's voice was filled with despair. "Snape really did find a way through Fluffy!"
He quickly moved closer and began to play the flute that Hagrid had given him, trying to make the music as rhythmic as possible.
Whether it was his musical talent or Lou Williams's vague understanding of music, his eyelids drooped after only a few notes.
“He actually left a staircase here? It must be very deep down there… Fluorescent!” Hermione frowned and thought, then cast a light-up spell.
Through the dim light, Harry could vaguely see something wriggling below. "Did you see that? What's down there?"
Ron glanced at Hermione and waved his wand to cast the Light Spell.
"It's the Devil's Web! No wonder they used stairs." Hermione demonstrated her quick thinking in answering questions. "Let's go down quickly! Keep the Illumination Charm up; the Devil's Web is afraid of this!"
