"Stay hidden and don't panic. We must find a suitable opportunity to break out."
Su Ting immediately found cover and hid.
He carefully observed the movements around him, his ears keenly catching every subtle sound.
Suddenly, gunshots rang out in the distance, clearly indicating that Li Hua's group had begun their operation.
"Take advantage of this opportunity and come with me!" Zhao Yang seized the opportunity and decisively gave the order.
Su Ting quickly got up and followed closely behind Zhao Yang, remaining vigilant as he advanced.
At that moment, a blurry figure appeared ahead and was approaching them.
"Enemy ahead!" Su Ting immediately opened fire, bullets flashing across the night sky.
The figure fell to the ground, but then more people came into view.
"Damn it, this is the enemy's place too!" Zhao Yang said through gritted teeth. "Keep moving forward, we can't stay here too long."
The two quickly crossed a narrow alley and finally spotted an abandoned building. Su Ting rushed inside, then turned and slammed the door shut with the butt of his rifle. Zhao Yang swiftly ran to the window, observing the situation outside.
"It's safe here for now," Zhao Yang said in a low voice, "but we need to find an exit as soon as possible, or they will catch up quickly."
“Okay, I’ll check again to see if there are any other exits around here,” Su Ting said, quickly checking every corner of the room.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed from upstairs, followed by gunshots. "Damn it, they're up there!" Zhao Yang shouted.
Su Ting immediately rushed to the stairwell, raised his rifle and pointed it upwards, ready to retaliate at any moment.
An enemy soldier peeked out and aimed at them. Su Ting fired first, and the man fell to the ground.
"Hurry, we can't stay here any longer!" Zhao Yang grabbed Su Ting's arm, and the two quickly retreated along another passage.
Chapter 303 Attacking from the Side
Zhao Yang and Su Ting hurried through the narrow corridor, the footsteps behind them growing ever closer. Every second felt incredibly long.
"This way!" Zhao Yang pointed to a half-open door, and the two rushed inside. It was a small storage room, filled with miscellaneous items.
"There's a vent here, you can try it."
Su Ting immediately spotted a small window in the wall. He quickly cleared away the obstructions and squeezed into the narrow ventilation duct.
Zhao Yang followed closely behind, and the two struggled to move forward in the cramped space.
The footsteps outside gradually faded away, but their breathing remained unusually clear.
Finally, a faint light appeared ahead of the ventilation duct. The two quickly climbed out and found themselves in a corner of an abandoned factory.
"Captain, we're safe for now," Su Ting said in a low voice.
Zhao Yang nodded, took out a map, and quickly studied it. "There's a small path heading north from here that can go around to the foot of the mountain; our backup should be there."
Su Ting patted the rifle in his hand to confirm that the magazine was ready. "Okay, Captain, we're ready to go at any time."
Just as they were about to leave, a piercing sound came, as if someone had opened the iron gate.
Zhao Yang signaled Su Ting to hide, and then found cover for himself.
Two figures came into view; they were clearly an enemy patrol.
Su Ting gripped his rifle tightly, thinking to himself, "I have no choice but to take the risk."
Suddenly, one of the enemies seemed to notice something and looked in Zhao Yang's direction.
Zhao Yang took a deep breath and fired decisively. The bullet struck the enemy's vitals precisely, and the man fell instantly.
The other enemy reacted quickly and immediately retaliated.
Zhao Yang quickly took cover behind a bunker, while Su Ting seized the opportunity to attack from the side, and several accurate shots prevented the enemy from having any chance to retaliate.
The two exchanged a glance, knowing they couldn't delay any longer, and immediately ran towards the path. The night wind blew past their ears, and a tense atmosphere filled the air.
After running for a while, Su Ting stopped, panting heavily. "Captain, something seems wrong up ahead."
Zhao Yang observed carefully for a while and discovered several unidentified people lurking ahead. "There might be an ambush; we need to take a detour."
The two replanned their route, avoiding conspicuous roads and slowly making their way along the path at the foot of the mountain. Suddenly, Su Ting stepped into a trap, and a steel wire nearly made him fall.
"Be careful, there are definitely many traps like this around here," Zhao Yang said warily.
They carefully navigated around several obvious traps and finally reached a relatively open area. In the distance, they spotted their backup.
“Those are our people!” Su Ting whispered excitedly.
The two ran faster, but as they got closer, they discovered that these people did not seem to be their comrades, but rather another group of people.
"Who are you?" a leader-like figure on the other side demanded.
Zhao Yang stepped forward and calmly said, "We are a special operations team, and these are our credentials."
The other party took the documents, checked them carefully, and then nodded to his subordinates to let them pass. "Alright, come with us to evacuate; the pursuers are closing in."
The three met up and quickly headed towards a safe area. Su Ting glanced back at the forest under the night sky, his heart still pounding.
They finally arrived at the designated evacuation point, where a helicopter was already waiting. Everyone boarded the helicopter one by one, and as the rotors slowly turned, it gradually took off.
Su Ting let out a long sigh of relief, watching the ground recede into the distance below. "This mission is finally over."
Zhao Yang patted him on the shoulder and smiled slightly. "Yes, you've worked hard, brother."
“But…” Su Ting’s eyes suddenly turned serious, “I have a feeling something’s not quite right about those people who met us earlier.”
Chapter 304 Temporary Command Post
Zhao Yang's expression also turned serious. "I also felt something was wrong, but they did have legal identification and helped us evacuate smoothly."
The helicopter flew smoothly through the night sky, but the atmosphere inside the cabin remained tense.
The two remained silent, each pondering what had just happened.
Shortly afterward, the helicopter landed in a remote mountain area.
Their contact led them into an underground base. The base was well-equipped, clearly indicating that it had been prepared in advance.
"This is our temporary command post."
The other leader said, "Let's rest here for a while, and we'll arrange the next steps."
Zhao Yang and Su Ting followed him into the conference room, where several staff members were already waiting for them.
The conference table was covered with various maps and documents, and a sense of oppression permeated the air.
Zhao Yang sat at the table, looked at the cup of hot water handed to him, and asked in a low voice, "May I ask what organization you are? I don't think I've seen you before."
The other leader smiled slightly and answered calmly.
"We are a branch of the international anti-terrorism coalition, and this mission has been approved by high-level officials. Rest assured, you are absolutely safe."
Su Ting frowned. Although he still had some doubts, he had no other choice. He turned to Zhao Yang, his eyes questioning.
Zhao Yang nodded, indicating that they should trust these people for the time being. After all, they still needed their help to complete the next task.
"Alright, let's get down to business," Zhao Yang said. "We've brought crucial intelligence, and we hope to pass it on to the command center as soon as possible."
The other leader nodded, signaling the staff beside him to begin taking notes. "Please tell us the information, and we will process it immediately."
Zhao Yang took out an encrypted USB drive and handed it to the leader.
"Here is a complete data packet containing all the information and whereabouts of the target. We must ensure that this information does not fall into enemy hands."
The leader took the USB drive, inserted it into the computer, and began verification. After a moment, he looked up at Zhao Yang, his gaze sharp. "Excellent, this is exactly what we need."
Su Ting secretly observed from the side and noticed that the leader's subordinates were working rapidly on the computers, seemingly handling some urgent matters. A sense of unease welled up in his heart again.
"So what do we do next?" Zhao Yang asked directly.
“Your mission is complete,” the leader said in a deep voice. “We will quickly transmit this intelligence to the central command and deploy the next steps based on the intelligence.”
"How are we going to get out of here?" Su Ting asked.
The leader smiled slightly, "Don't worry, we will arrange vehicles to take you to a safe location. You can rest here for the night and leave early tomorrow morning."
Even so, Zhao Yang and Su Ting still felt a strange pressure. They exchanged a glance and decided to remain vigilant.
As night fell, the base fell silent. Zhao Yang and Su Ting rested briefly in a small room, with the occasional sound of patrolling footsteps coming from outside.
Zhao Yang leaned against the bed and whispered to Su Ting, "Su, I don't think we can completely trust these people. Their attitude is too natural, it feels a bit deliberate."
Su Ting nodded in agreement, "I also felt something was off. Especially their computer system, it felt like they were monitoring us all along."
“Yes, that’s what I think too,” Zhao Yang said in a low voice. “Right now, we can only pretend to believe them and find an opportunity to investigate the matter thoroughly.”
After discussing for a while, the two decided to divide the work. Su Ting would be responsible for observing the surrounding movements, while Zhao Yang would try to find more information about the organization.
As night deepened, most people in the base had already fallen asleep.
Su Ting tiptoed out of the room and walked down the corridor toward the main control room. Zhao Yang, on the other hand, quietly slipped out of the room through the window and circled around to the back of the base.
"Hopefully nothing unexpected happens," Su Ting muttered to himself, gently pushing open the door to the main control room and carefully examining the information on the computer screen in the dim light.
