“Alright, I’ll try to buy you some time. You guys retreat first, and don’t expose yourselves,” Su Ting replied calmly.
Just as Li Yun's men were getting closer to Su Ting's hiding place, Su Ting suddenly jumped out from the corner, holding a gun, and fired a shot at a man in black.
The man fell to the ground with a thud. The other men in black were startled by the sudden attack and quickly sought cover.
"He's over there! Grab him!" Li Yun roared, but he didn't step forward himself. Instead, he stood in a relatively safe position and directed his men.
Using the complex environment of the warehouse, Su Ting constantly leaped and darted about, maneuvering against the enemy. Each shot he fired accurately hit its target, preventing Li Yun's men from easily getting close. Gunfire and explosions erupted throughout the warehouse.
"Team Leader Su, we've already retreated to a safe area. You need to be careful too!" Xiao Zhou reminded him again.
"Don't worry, I know," Su Ting replied while continuing to dodge enemy fire.
He found a metal frame behind which he could take temporary shelter, caught his breath, and then peered through the gaps to observe the situation outside.
At that moment, Lao Wang's voice came through the communicator again: "Team Leader Su, according to the satellite map, the enemy's reinforcements will arrive in three minutes. We must evacuate as soon as possible."
"Understood, I'll find a way to get out of here," Su Ting replied quickly.
Just then, smoke billowed into the warehouse, clearly indicating that someone had detonated a smoke grenade. Using the thick smoke, Su Ting immediately ran towards the nearest exit. As he ran, he fired a few shots back to stop the enemy from pursuing him.
Li Yun shouted angrily, "Damn it, go after them!"
Taking advantage of the smoke, Su Ting rushed out of the warehouse, quickly crossed the overgrown open area, and ran towards the pre-planned safe evacuation route. As he ran, he kept looking back to make sure he wasn't being caught.
"Team Leader Su, are you safe now?" Xiao Liu's voice was full of worry.
"Almost there, I'll be able to meet up with you soon," Su Ting replied.
He finally arrived at the designated meeting point and saw Xiao Zhou and Xiao Liu waiting there. Both of them breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that Su Ting was safe and sound.
"All of these supplies have been moved here," Xiao Zhou said, pointing to the neatly arranged boxes on the side.
Su Ting nodded: "Well done, everyone. Now all we need to do is find a completely safe place to hide these supplies."
"What do we do next?" Xiao Liu asked.
Su Ting pondered for a moment and said, "Let's leave here first. Li Yun won't let this go easily; we need to formulate our next plan as soon as possible."
"Yes, I'll follow your instructions," Xiao Zhou said firmly.
The three quickly packed their equipment and valuable supplies, heading into the deeper darkness of the night. The sound of wind rustling through the jungle behind them seemed to foreshadow approaching danger.
"I hope all of this can end smoothly," Xiao Liu said softly.
“Yes,” Su Ting replied, “we will definitely find the truth that has been hidden for so many years.”
The three continued on their way, accompanied only by the occasional rustling of leaves and the distant calls of unknown animals in the darkness.
They knew that more challenges awaited them ahead, but at this moment, they focused only on each step they took.
Chapter 461 The Unknown Journey
The forest at night was deeper than I had imagined, and beams of flashlight beams swept back and forth through the dense woods, illuminating the path ahead.
Su Ting led Xiao Zhou and Xiao Liu through the darkness, each of their steps heavy. Although the supplies were temporarily safe, they knew this was far from over.
“We need to find a more secluded place,” Su Ting said, his tone filled with unwavering determination.
"Where do you think would be a good place?" Xiao Zhou asked, though his fatigue was evident on his face, he remained highly alert.
“There’s an abandoned village not far from here. I’ve scouted it out before, and it shouldn’t be inhabited,” Su Ting said as they walked. “We can rest there for a while.”
Xiao Liu nodded: "That's good, this will at least create some trouble for the enemy."
The three continued on their way through the darkness, occasionally hearing the calls of wild animals in the distance, but mostly hearing the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves in the silence.
They all knew that Li Yun's men would not give up the pursuit easily, and time was of the essence for them.
After more than an hour of trekking, Su Ting stopped and gestured for the two to stop as well. "We're almost there; the small village is just ahead," he said softly.
The three quietly approached the village and found that, as Su Ting had said, the houses were indeed dilapidated and seemed to have been uninhabited for a long time. They stopped in front of a slightly more intact house in the far corner.
"Let's stay here tonight and make plans tomorrow morning," Su Ting suggested.
Xiao Zhou nodded: "Okay, I'll go check around to see if anyone is following us."
"I'll go help out too," Xiao Liu offered.
Seeing his two companions so eager, Su Ting felt secretly gratified: "Be careful and come back as soon as possible."
After watching them disappear into the night, Su Ting went inside and began tidying up the room. A short while later, he heard light footsteps outside; he knew it was Xiao Zhou and Xiao Liu returning.
"There doesn't seem to be anything unusual nearby," Xiao Zhou reported.
“Yes, but we still have to take turns keeping watch. We can’t let our guard down.” Su Ting said, spreading out a simple sleeping bag on the ground. “You two rest first, then we’ll switch shifts later.”
Xiao Zhou and Xiao Liu found a relatively comfortable spot to lie down and quickly fell asleep. Su Ting sat by the door, his eyes warily watching for any movement outside the window.
He didn't know how much time had passed, until the moonlight gradually faded and the east began to lighten, before he woke up Xiao Zhou to take over his post and tried to close his eyes for a short rest.
The next morning, the three woke up and quickly ate some dry rations for breakfast. Then they began to discuss their next course of action.
“We can’t stay here forever,” Xiao Liu broke the silence. “We have to find a way to solve this problem.”
Su Ting nodded in agreement: "That's right, we must find more clues in order to truly shake off Li Yun and his men's pursuit."
"So, what do you think is most important right now?" Xiao Zhou asked.
"I think the most urgent task is to figure out who or what organization wants these drugs," Su Ting analyzed. "Only by knowing the reasons behind them can we completely solve the problem."
Just then, a commotion suddenly came from outside the door, as if someone was approaching.
Su Ting suddenly stood up and immediately signaled Xiao Zhou and Xiao Liu to hide. Just as they were preparing to deal with the unexpected situation, several ragged young men walked out of the village entrance.
One of the figures, who appeared to be the leader, stepped forward and extended his hand to Su Ting in a friendly manner: "Hello, I'm Qiang, one of the survivors in this area. I saw you come in last night and wanted to come and say hello earlier..."
Su Ting looked at the other person with some surprise, but quickly composed herself: "I see, thank you for your understanding. I'm Su Ting, and this is my friend."
Chapter 462 Drugs and Reagents
Su Ting relaxed his guard slightly, but he still cautiously asked, "What are you doing here?"
Ah-Qiang smiled and said, "We are all people who lost our homes because of war and disaster, and we have gathered in this area to help each other. You seemed to be fleeing last night too? Did you encounter any trouble?"
Su Ting nodded, but didn't reveal much information: "There are indeed some issues that need to be addressed. Thank you for your concern, but we can't stay here too long; we must move on."
“I understand,” Ah Qiang nodded. “However, it’s relatively safe here. If you need anything, just let us know. Maybe we can help.”
Xiao Zhou and Xiao Liu also emerged from their hiding place and greeted A Qiang and his companions.
Xiao Zhou said, "Actually, we need some intelligence. Do you know if there is any demand or transaction information for pharmaceutical reagents in this area?"
Upon hearing this question, A-Qiang's expression changed slightly. "Hmm...medicine reagents?"
He frowned and thought for a moment. "I'm not entirely sure about that, but there have been people asking similar questions lately. What exactly are you looking for? Perhaps we can provide some clues."
Su Ting glanced at his partner and decided to reveal a little information: "We're investigating a batch of mysterious drug formulations. They might be related to the clandestine activities of some forces. If you know anything about this, please let us know."
At that moment, a young woman walked up from behind A-Qiang. She was Lina, another survivor from the village, she said.
“I recall that a couple of days ago, some suspicious people came here inquiring about similar items. They claimed to be representatives of a research institution, but their behavior didn’t seem like that of ordinary people.”
“These people also mentioned that they urgently needed these drugs, saying they were life-saving medicines,” A-Qiang added. “Although they didn’t give us anything substantial, I felt that things were definitely not simple.”
Su Ting felt a surge of urgency and asked, "Are those people still nearby? Is there any way to contact them?"
Lina shook her head: "I'm afraid it will be difficult to find them. They left without leaving an address or contact information."
However, from my observation, this group is very well-equipped, suggesting they have strong support behind them. If we can track some of their patterns of activity, perhaps we can find some clues.
Upon hearing these words, a spark of hope ignited in Su Ting's heart.
“Thank you for your help! Here’s what we’ll do,” he said, “we plan to search around this village to see if we can find any useful information. If so, we would appreciate your support.”
Seeing this, A-Qiang readily agreed: "No problem! We will cooperate with you as much as possible. After all, we all have the same wish—to restore a peaceful life."
After a brief discussion, the group split into several smaller groups and began their operation.
Su Ting and Xiao Zhou decided to search for traces in the ruins on the edge of the village; while Xiao Liu and several villagers went to explore in another direction. Everyone understood that time was tight and the task was heavy, so no one dared to be careless.
After a long day of hard work, as night fell again, the group finally returned to the dilapidated house to report on the situation.
Xiao Liu seemed a little excited: "I found some strange markings not far south of the village. They might be marks left by those people to indicate their location to their accomplices."
Su Ting's eyes lit up, and he immediately stood up and said, "Excellent! This is exactly what we've been looking for! Let's set off tomorrow following this lead, and hopefully we can track down more valuable information."
"That's right, we need to get a good rest tonight and recharge our energy," Xiao Zhou chimed in. "After all, who knows what challenges we'll face next!"
The group exchanged smiles, as if they had already foreseen the hardships to come, but they were also full of fighting spirit.
It was pitch black outside, with only a few fireflies dotting the night sky. Just as they were all preparing to lie down and rest, they suddenly heard light footsteps in the distance.
"Wait!" Su Ting said in a low voice, "It seems like there are more unidentified people approaching here..."
Chapter 463 Stay Vigilant
Xiao Zhou immediately jumped out of bed and quickly turned off the lights in the room. Everyone immediately went on alert, silently approaching the window to observe the situation.
Ah-Qiang whispered, "The voice is very careful; it's probably trying to avoid being discovered."
Lina gently opened the door a crack and peered out, her eyes shining brightly in the night. "How many of them are there?"
