Adrian nodded, signaling everyone to get ready. Just then, the sounds from outside the bushes grew closer, and the conversation could be clearly heard:
"They should be up ahead; spread out and search."
"Hurry up, don't let them get away."

Chapter 580 Take Action Now!
Suddenly, a series of hurried footsteps approached, followed by a whisper: "Did you hear that? It sounds like someone's over there."
"Go over and have a look."
Adrian quickly made a gesture, signaling everyone to take cover. He, Sutin, and Robert moved simultaneously to different positions in the bushes, each choosing their attack angle.
Lucia silently drew the long sword from her back, her eyes filled with vigilance. She took a deep breath, held it, and prepared to strike at any moment.
The footsteps grew closer, and finally, a figure came into their view. The man was dressed in black and held a short sword; he was clearly up to no good.
Just then, Su Ting suddenly leaped out of the bushes, brandishing his knife and launching a surprise attack on the man in black. Caught off guard, the man was slashed in the arm by Su Ting and immediately collapsed to the ground, howling in pain.
"The enemy is here!" Su Ting shouted. "Attack now!"
Hearing the shouts, more people surged in from all directions. Adrian and Jack immediately rushed out to meet the attack, while Tom stood guard by the bushes, protecting Thomas and the little boy.
The battle erupted instantly, the sounds of clashing weapons and screams mingling together. Adrian clashed with a man in black, wielding his longsword with ruthless precision, forcing his opponent back several steps. At the same time, Lucia found her opening, rolling behind her enemy and piercing his back with her sword.
"This is no place to linger!" Adrian shouted. "Everyone, follow me and head deeper into the woods!"
The group sprang into action, with Jack and Tom bringing up the rear to ensure no enemy could catch up. They moved swiftly forward through the dense forest, using the trees and vines for cover.
After running for a while, they finally came to a relatively open area. Adrian stopped, panting, and looked back to make sure no one was chasing them.
"Thankfully, we're safe for now," Adrian said, wiping the sweat from his brow.
“That abandoned hut isn’t far from here, is it?” Thomas asked.
“Yes, you’ll see it if you walk a little further,” Tom replied.
Adrian looked around and then said, "We can't let our guard down; the environment here is still complicated. Everyone, follow me and be careful."
The group continued onward, passing through a dense forest. Soon, a dilapidated hut came into view. It was a long-abandoned hut with a damaged roof and broken windows.
"Is this the place you were talking about?" Adrian asked.
“Yes,” Tom nodded, “it may be dilapidated, but at least it can provide us with a temporary refuge.”
The group entered the hut one by one, with Adrian and Sutin checking the surroundings for safety. Inside, they found some relatively intact planks and ropes, which they used to reinforce the doors and windows.
“It seems we can rest here for a while,” Adrian said, “but we can’t stay too long; we must find a real refuge as soon as possible.”
“I agree,” Jack said. “We need to discuss what to do next.”
Thomas held the little boy, gently patting his back to comfort him: "It's alright, son, we're safe now. Take a rest."
The little boy closed his eyes, seemingly relaxing slightly. Adrian walked to the window, peering through the broken pane, his brow furrowed.

"Adrian, what are you thinking about?" Lucia walked over and asked softly.
“I’m wondering how much longer we can hold out,” Adrian sighed. “The enemy won’t give up easily.”
“No matter what, we have to survive,” Lucia said firmly. “We still have hope.”
At this moment, Su Ting and Robert also came over, and everyone nodded in agreement.
“That’s right,” Adrian turned to the group and said, “We must remain vigilant, but we must not lose faith. Next, we need to carefully plan our next step.”
Just then, a slight noise came from outside, as if someone was approaching the hut.
"Everyone be careful, there might be danger," Adrian whispered.
Everyone immediately became alert, gripping their weapons tightly, ready to face the upcoming new challenge.
Adrian reacted quickly, gesturing for everyone to move closer to the window and listen carefully to what was happening outside. Lucia pressed herself against the window, her breathing becoming rapid.
“It’s footsteps, and there’s more than one person,” she said softly. “They seem to be being very careful.”
Su Ting gently pushed aside a broken wooden plank and peered out: "There are two dark figures. It looks like they're searching this area."
Adrian nodded. "We can't take the risk. Robert, can you confirm this from another angle?"
Robert quickly moved to the other side of the cabin and returned a moment later, saying, "There are indeed two people, one of whom appears to be injured and is walking with a limp."
“Then let’s take this opportunity to kill them,” Jack said with a cold smile, the dagger in his hand reflecting a faint light.
Adrian thought for a moment and said, "We can give it a try, but we need to be quick. Jack, you and Tom go out and take care of them. The rest of you stay here and be ready to provide support at any time."
Jack and Tom nodded in agreement and tiptoed out of the cabin. Thomas held the little boy tightly, trying his best not to make a sound.
The night outside was as dark as ink. The two approached the shadowy figures silently. The figures, clearly unaware of their presence, continued their cautious search.
Just then, Jack suddenly burst out from the shadows, brandishing his dagger and aiming straight for the throat of one of the men. The wounded man in black cried out in alarm and collapsed to the ground before he could even react. Tom followed closely behind, lunging at another enemy and knocking him to the ground with a powerful punch, then kicking his weapon away.
The battle ended quickly, and the two enemies lay motionless on the ground. Jack quickly checked them over, and after confirming they were not in immediate danger, he waved towards the hut.
"Done!" he whispered.
Adrian breathed a sigh of relief and instructed everyone to pack their things and prepare to leave: "We can't stay here too long; we have to keep moving forward."
The group quickly packed their belongings, Thomas picked up the little boy, and followed Adrian out of the cabin. They walked through the woods and headed deeper into the forest.
"The terrain here is complicated, we need to be careful." Su Ting walked at the front of the group, looking back from time to time to observe the situation.
After walking for a short while, a winding path appeared ahead, with towering trees on both sides, and the sound of a stream could be faintly heard in the distance.
“This should be the direction leading to the valley,” Lucia said. “If we can find a water source, we can better conceal ourselves.”
“Good.” Adrian nodded. “Follow this path and see if you can find a suitable hiding place.”

As they continued on their way, they suddenly heard a faint noise ahead, as if something was moving through the woods.
"Stop!" Adrian hissed. "Stay hidden."
Everyone immediately crouched down, cautiously looking around. The sound grew closer, and then a wild rabbit darted across the path and disappeared into the bushes.
Everyone looked at each other, then breathed a sigh of relief. Adrian smiled slightly: "Looks like it was a false alarm, but we should still be careful."
They continued along the path, passing through a dense thicket of bushes, until they came to a clear stream. The water flowed gently, and the environment was tranquil, making it perfect for a rest.
“This place is nice,” Thomas said. “We can rest here for a while.”
Adrian glanced around: "Okay, but don't let your guard down. Lucia, Sutin, you two take turns keeping watch."
"Understood," the two replied in unison.
The group put down their belongings and sat on the grass to rest. The little boy had fallen asleep with Thomas's comforting words, while Lucia tended to his wounds.
“We really owe you all this time,” Thomas said sincerely, looking at Adrian. “I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
Adrian shook his head: "Now is not the time to relax. We must find a safe place to ensure the children's safety."
Lucia looked up at Adrian: "How much longer do you think we can hold out? Will the enemy catch up again?"
Adrian paused for a moment, then sighed: "I don't know, but I believe that as long as we are united, there is nothing that cannot be overcome."
At this moment, a light footstep sounded again. Su Ting quickly stood up and warily watched the dense forest ahead.
"There's something else going on," he said in a low voice.
Adrian immediately became alert, signaling everyone to prepare, grip their weapons, and face the upcoming new challenge.
Adrian gripped his sword hilt tightly, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. Sutin and Lucia also quickly stood up, ready to deal with any unexpected situation. Tom and Jack quietly moved to a concealed spot by the creek, prepared to launch an attack at any moment.
“This sound is different, it’s fainter,” Su Ting said in a low voice. “It could be an animal, or it could be an enemy.”
Adrian nodded, a hint of wariness flashing in his eyes: "We can't let our guard down. Whatever it is, we need to confirm it first."
Thomas gently placed the sleeping boy on the ground, then picked up a branch and carefully placed it beside the boy. He whispered, "Everyone be careful not to wake the child."
Everyone held their breath, waiting for the sound to reappear. Finally, a series of light footsteps came from the depths of the woods, growing closer and closer, but it didn't seem to be the footsteps of one person or a group of people.
Su Ting frowned slightly: "Judging from this sound, it doesn't sound like a person walking."
Adrian waved to signal everyone to remain vigilant, while he himself quietly approached the source of the sound. He gently parted the grass in front of him and listened carefully.
Just then, a little squirrel darted out of the woods, jumped onto a branch, and let out a joyful chirp. It turned out that the soft, light footsteps from before were the sound of this little squirrel leaping between the branches.
Su Ting couldn't help but laugh: "It was a false alarm. Looks like we were too nervous."
