Chapter 784 Mystery
Chapter 784 Mystery
Just as they were captivated by the strange sight before them, an old man's voice came from a corner not far away—"Oh, another new friend has arrived... I wonder if he can pass the test this time?"
What new challenges and surprises will this mysterious, unseen figure bring to Su Ting and his companions' adventure? The answers will likely only be revealed as they continue their journey…
"Hello, are you the owner here?" Su Ting asked politely, his gaze fixed on the seemingly ordinary-looking old man who exuded an indescribable aura. "We hope you can tell us what to do next?"
The old man smiled gently, his eyes gleaming with a warm light. "Welcome to the Library of Forgotten Things, young man," he said slowly. "I am the guardian here; you may call me 'Shadow of Knowledge.' Here, every book holds a door to different worlds, and the answer you seek lies within them."
Whispers immediately broke out in the group.
"This...this is simply a legendary mysterious book!" a young scholar-type team member couldn't help but whisper, his tone full of shock.
Another experienced swordsman frowned: "But this sounds too far-fetched, doesn't it? Can we really find an exit?"
The Shadow of Knowledge smiled slightly, not directly answering the swordsman's question, but continuing, "Everyone has their own answer in their heart, and the true treasure needs to be discovered by you yourselves. Now, I will begin a special trial for you—'The Choice of Wisdom'."
Su Ting nodded: "Please tell me, what do we need to do?"
The Shadow of Knowledge waved his hand, and a screen of light unfolded behind him, revealing a complex pattern. "There is a maze-like layout here, with a small door in each corner leading to different spaces. But only by following the correct path can you find what you are looking for. And the key to all of this lies in how you choose the books in your hands."
"Choose a book?" Murong Yun asked, puzzled. "How should we choose?"
The Shadow of Knowledge smiled slightly: "It's very simple. Each person chooses a book and then follows the guidance within. But please remember, each person's choice will affect the fate of the entire team."
"So amazing?" Hua Yao excitedly ran to the nearest bookshelf and casually flipped through the books. "These books look really extraordinary!"
As she was flipping through the books, her dwarf teammate suddenly interjected, "Hey, little girl, don't underestimate these books. They have incredible power; they might just take you to another world."
"I know, I'm just curious," Hua Yao chuckled. "But I believe our captain will lead us safely through this mystery."
Su Ting nodded: "That's right, is everyone ready? Let's face this trial together!"
The Shadow of Knowledge nodded approvingly: "Very good, then let's start with the leftmost book, one for each person, and choose in order."
The first to step forward was a veteran, who picked out a book that looked very old. "This book seems rather special; I hope it will bring us good luck," he said softly.

Next, everyone stepped forward one by one to choose the book they thought was most suitable. After everyone had received their book, the Shadow of Knowledge raised its hand and gently waved it, instantly softening the lights throughout the library and filling the air with a mysterious atmosphere.
“Now, act according to the guidance in the book,” said the Shadow of Knowledge. “Remember, every choice is crucial, and I hope you can find the true way out.”
As he finished speaking, the layout of the entire library began to change. The bookshelves and aisles seemed to be rearranged by some force, and each book radiated a more dazzling light, as if waiting for them to make their final decision.
“Let’s go!” Su Ting said firmly. “No matter what challenges lie ahead, we must unite and face them together!”
Everyone in the line clutched their chosen books tightly, their hearts filled with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. As the library's layout gradually changed, the bookshelves and aisles seemed to come alive, rearranging themselves, each step fraught with uncertainty and danger.
“This is simply incredible!” Murong Yun exclaimed. The book in her hands seemed to have a life of its own, emitting a soft light. “I feel like it’s guiding me somewhere.”
Su Ting glanced at Hua Yao beside him, noticing the curiosity and excitement in her eyes. "Captain, this book says we have to cross a mysterious forest," she said, looking up at Su Ting. "Are you ready?"
“Of course.” Su Ting smiled confidently. “However, before we begin, I hope everyone can share their findings.”
The veteran nodded slowly, turning the pages of the ancient book in his hands. "The book describes an ancient labyrinth, filled with all sorts of puzzles and traps. Our task is to solve these puzzles and find the exit."
The young, scholarly team member said excitedly, "The book I chose mentions a palace of knowledge, where countless treasures of knowledge are hidden. As long as we can answer the questions successfully, we can receive generous rewards."
After a moment of contemplation, the swordsman spoke: "My book records a duel. I need to win this battle to obtain further clues."
The Shadow of Knowledge smiled slightly, quietly watching their discussion. "Very good, every choice has its meaning. Remember, your choices not only affect your personal fate, but also the future of the entire team."
"Let's go!" Su Ting said firmly. "No matter what challenges lie ahead, we will unite and face them together!"
As the group followed the instructions in the book and began to move in different directions, the light in the library flickered, creating an eerie, time-space distortion. Suddenly, a blinding beam of light shot out from between the bookshelves, aimed directly at the veteran.
"Watch out!" the swordsman shouted, quickly standing in front of the veteran and raising his shield to defend himself.
The veteran paused for a moment, then looked at the swordsman gratefully: "Thank you, friend. Let's solve this problem together."
After some searching, they finally discovered a hidden mechanism and successfully triggered a new path. Meanwhile, at the other entrance to the forest, Hua Yao gracefully leaped into the dense woods.

"Hey, wait for me!" Murong Yun hurriedly caught up, still complaining, "Why do I have to be with you all of a sudden..."
"Haha, don't be nervous," Hua Yao replied with a smile, "Maybe we'll find something interesting in the forest."
Just then, one of the dwarf team members suddenly shouted, "Oh no, why is the ground here getting softer and softer?"
"Look at the markings under your feet!" the young scholar quickly pointed out a strange symbol. "This might be a key clue to the next location!"
While everyone was busy solving puzzles and overcoming challenges, Su Ting unexpectedly discovered that the book in his hands seemed to be quietly changing—unseen characters appeared on the pages, as if guiding him toward a more profound destination.
"What...what does this mean?" he murmured to himself, his heart filled with doubt and anticipation.
Just as everyone was engrossed in their respective challenges, a deep voice came from not far away: "It seems you're getting close to the truth..."
"Who's there?" Su Ting immediately became alert, looking around but finding no suspicious people.
Just as Su Ting and his teammates were trying to pinpoint the source of the sound, the lighting in the library changed again. A mysterious and tense atmosphere filled the air, as if they were about to face some unknown force.
"Captain, what do we do?" Hua Yao's voice was tinged with nervousness as she looked at Su Ting, hoping he could offer some guidance.
"Stay alert, everyone move closer," Su Ting said in a low voice, glancing around as if trying to glean some clues from the changing environment. "We can't let our guard down."
At that moment, an elderly man who looked like an ordinary library staff member slowly emerged from the shadows. He wore an old but clean work uniform, held a large, yellowed book in his hand, and had a deep and mysterious gaze.
The old man spoke slowly: "You have already demonstrated enough courage and wisdom. However, the road ahead is long and fraught with danger. Remember, only by uniting can we overcome all the challenges that lie ahead."
Upon hearing this, the veteran couldn't help but ask, "Sir, may I ask who you are?"
“You can call me the Watcher,” the old man replied with a smile. “Every corner of this library holds secrets, and I am the one who guards them.”
The young scholar seemed to have his curiosity piqued: "Then, Lord Watcher, can you tell us more about the secrets of this library?"
“I’m sorry,” the Watcher’s tone turned slightly serious, “knowledge is precious, but it comes at a price. What you need to do now is move on.”
Just as everyone was preparing to follow instructions, Murong Yun suddenly exclaimed in surprise, "Look, there seems to be something moving over there!"
Everyone's gaze immediately turned to the direction she was pointing—a huge stone statue was slowly opening its eyes, emitting a ghostly green light.
“This is…” Su Ting frowned in thought, but quickly realized, “Everyone be careful, this may be some kind of magical defense mechanism activated!”
"Wow, this is so exciting!" Hua Yao exclaimed excitedly. "It's like we're the main characters in an adventure movie!"

However, not everyone was as optimistic as Hua Yao. The veteran, who had never encountered such a situation before, clearly showed signs of tension. "Captain, what should we do?"
Su Ting calmly replied, "Stay calm. If it really is a test, then we should be able to find a way to deal with it."
At that moment, a deep voice emanated from the stone statue: "Intruders, are you ready to meet the challenge?"
“Wait,” Su Ting raised his hand and said loudly, “we are not invaders. We are here to solve the mystery and find the answer.”
"Then prove yourselves with your wisdom." As the words fell, several rows of glowing symbols appeared around the stone statue, seemingly asking them to complete some kind of task.
The young, scholarly team member immediately stepped forward to observe and quickly identified a pattern: "This seems to be a logic puzzle; solving it will allow us to enter the next room."
"Come on, everyone!" the swordsman encouraged. "No matter how complicated or difficult the problem is, as long as we work together, we can definitely solve it."
Just as the entire team was engrossed in solving the problem, a strange sound came from afar...
"Shh, everyone quiet down," the Shadow of Knowledge warned. "It seems there's been some new development over there."
Sure enough, a loud bang came from deep within the library, and then an unknown force could be seen rapidly approaching their location.
“We need to speed things up,” Su Ting said firmly, looking at everyone. “Only by finding a way out as soon as possible can we avoid the potential threat.”
"Understood, Captain!" Everyone responded in unison, and then focused even more intently on solving the problem.
When the last question was solved, the stone statue suddenly stopped moving, and a new passage leading to the unknown depths slowly opened...
"That's fantastic!" Hua Yao jumped up excitedly. "We're almost there!"
“However,” Murong Yun said, a hint of worry flashing in his eyes as he looked at the energy fluctuations still spreading in the distance, “the real challenge may have only just begun…”
“No matter what,” Su Ting said, gripping the book tightly, his gaze resolute, “we will continue on until the very end.”
Just as they were about to step into the newly discovered passage, a soft footstep sounded from afar, followed by a familiar yet slightly weary voice: "Don't rush off, friends, I've come all this way to find you..."
Everyone turned to look, and saw a familiar figure standing in the shadows not far away—it was the Shadow of Knowledge that had disappeared earlier.
"What exactly do you want to do?" Su Ting questioned, his mind filled with doubt.
The Shadow of Knowledge slowly emerged from the shadows, his gaze sweeping over everyone before finally settling on Su Ting. "Everything I've done is to protect the secrets of this library," he sighed. "You've gone too far. Some things can't be revealed so easily."
Hua Yao frowned, clearly dissatisfied with this explanation: "We just want to solve the mystery and find the answer; we have no other intentions. Do you think we would do anything to harm this place?"
Murong Yun gently tugged at her sleeve, signaling everyone to remain calm with her eyes, then explained to the Shadow of Knowledge, "We truly came here only for exploration. If you can tell us how to proceed without violating your rules, I believe it will benefit both of us."
