The group set off again, their footsteps echoing loudly in the silent forest. Suddenly, a gentle breeze rustled the leaves, sending a shiver down everyone's spine.
"What did you hear?" Leon asked nervously.
"It's nothing, just a rumor." Su Ting tried to remain calm. "But everyone should still be on high alert and ready to fight at any time."
Just then, a dark shadow darted through the bushes, moving so fast it was almost invisible. Everyone immediately became alert, drawing their weapons in preparation for a possible attack.
"Who's there?" Su Ting shouted.
After a moment of silence, a person dressed in a black cloak slowly emerged from behind the tree. His face was hidden under the cloak, with only a pair of sharp eyes visible.
"You've come looking for a way out, haven't you?" the man asked, his voice low and hoarse.
"Who are you?" Rena nocked an arrow and aimed it at her opponent. "How do you know our purpose?"
Chapter 876 The Only Guide
“My name is not important,” the man waved his hand, “but I know what you need, and I can take you to find it.”
"Why should we believe you?" Su Ting asked, frowning.
"Believe it or not," the man shrugged. "But I'm the only guide here, unless you're willing to continue getting lost in this labyrinthine forest."
Su Ting and his teammates exchanged glances, all seeing hesitation in each other's eyes. It was a gamble, but it seemed to be the only option.
“Alright, we’ll go with you,” Su Ting finally decided. “But you’d better not mean any harm, or we’ll make you pay the price.”
“I understand.” The man smiled slightly. “Come with me, time is running out.”
The group followed the mysterious man in black through a complex forest, encountering no obstacles along the way. Gradually, a dilapidated castle came into view; though weathered by time, its former glory was still palpable.
"That's where we're going," the man in black pointed ahead. "There's a secret basement inside, containing clues about the exit."
"I hope what you're saying is true." Su Ting's eyes gleamed. "Let's go in and take a look."
They cautiously entered the castle, the air thick with the smell of mildew and decay. Dust and cobwebs littered the corners, and every step was fraught with unknown danger.
"There are many traps here," the man in black warned. "Stay close to me and don't wander off."
Led by the man in black, the group navigated around a series of traps and finally arrived at the entrance to the basement. The door was tightly shut, and strange symbols were engraved on it.
“This is the last obstacle.” The man in black stopped. “These symbols need to be deciphered before we can enter.”
“Leave it to me.” Rena stepped forward and carefully studied the symbols. “I’ll give it a try.”
"Hurry up," Su Ting urged. "I don't like it here; something feels off."
“I understand.” Rena focused her mind, her fingers moving among the symbols. Suddenly, a faint light flickered, and the door slowly opened.
"We did it!" Xiao Shi cheered.
"Don't be too happy yet," Su Ting warned in a low voice. "There might be more danger inside."
The group cautiously entered the basement and found it filled with various ancient maps and documents. Just as they were about to browse through them, a loud bang came from above, and dust fell from the ceiling.
"Oh no! There are people upstairs!" Su Ting shouted. "Everyone, come out quickly!"
"Su Ting, this is a trap!" The man in black suddenly turned around, revealing his true face. "I have already notified the enemy, and they will be here soon."
"You're a spy!" Rena angrily raised her bow and arrow. "We won't let you get away with this!"
"Heh, do you think you can escape this castle?" The man in black sneered as he stepped aside. "Welcome to your end."
"Hurry, let's break out!" Su Ting shouted.
“But Su Ting, there are no other exits here,” Caster shouted anxiously.
"Then we have no choice but to fight!" Su Ting brandished his longsword. "Everyone, follow me and charge out!"
"Alright, let's fight!" Rena and Jeff also raised their weapons, ready for battle.
"Let's all attack together!" Leon clenched his fists, his eyes resolute.
"We will definitely win!" Xiao Shi shouted.
Just then, the enemy stormed into the basement, and a battle was about to break out...
Chapter 877 Don't Panic
Su Ting raised his longsword high, his eyes resolute as iron. Enemies surged into the basement, while the man in black stood aside, coldly observing the impending battle.
"You think you can escape?" the man in black laughed loudly. "This is your graveyard!"
"Shut up!" Rena roared, firing an arrow at the man in black. But he nimbly dodged it and continued to sneer.
"Don't panic, everyone! We have a way to break out!" Su Ting shouted, his eyes sweeping over each team member to boost morale.
"I'll cover your retreat!" Jeff raised his giant axe and swung it down at the approaching enemies. The massive axe blade drew an arc in the air, slicing several enemies in half at the waist.
"Quick, this way!" Su Ting pointed to a hidden passage ahead. "There might be an exit there!"
The group quickly moved in that direction, with the enemy in hot pursuit. Rena retreated while occasionally turning back to fire her arrows, which flew towards the enemy like a whirlwind, each strike hitting a vital point.
"Su Ting, is this the right direction?" Xiao Shi asked anxiously.
"Believe me, we will definitely find a way out!" Su Ting said firmly.
"There's light ahead!" Leon suddenly shouted, pointing to a faint glimmer of light ahead.
"Quick, that's our hope!" Caster shouted excitedly.
The group quickened their pace, passing through the faint light, and suddenly the view opened up before them—they had arrived at an abandoned cellar, surrounded by various odds and ends, but at least for the time being, there were no enemies chasing them.
“This should be part of the castle, but it seems like no one has been here for a long time,” Su Ting said breathlessly.
"Su Ting, are those symbols really useful?" Rena looked at him doubtfully.
“We should believe in them; at least they give us hope,” Su Ting said firmly.
"So what do we do now?" Xiao Shi asked.
“We need to find a place to rest for a bit, and then figure out how to get out of here,” Su Ting said thoughtfully. “This place looks very secluded; we can organize our equipment here.”
The group began clearing the cellar, searching for anything they could use. Leon and Jeff worked together to move some old, broken furniture and discovered a small door.
"Come and see, there's a door here!" Leon shouted excitedly.
"Really?!" Su Ting rushed over and tried to push open the door. The door slowly opened, and a fresh and moist air rushed out—it turned out that this place led to an underground river.
“We can leave through here!” Su Ting said excitedly.
"Great!" Rena's eyes sparkled with joy. "We finally have a chance!"
The group quickly packed their belongings and proceeded along the underground river. The river flowed gently, and the surrounding stones were slippery and difficult to traverse, but they did not give up and supported each other as they moved forward.
"Su Ting, do you think we can get away safely?" Xiao Shi asked as they walked.
"As long as we unite as one, we will surely find a way out," Su Ting encouraged.
“I believe in you, Captain,” Rena said firmly.
They continued onward, passing through patches of darkness, until finally a glimmer of light appeared. Ahead lay a waterfall, its water cascading down from a great height with a deafening roar.
"That's the exit!" Su Ting exclaimed excitedly.
"Great!" the crowd cheered.
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from behind, and the enemy discovered their presence.
Chapter 878 The Only Way Out
"Oh no, the enemy is catching up!" Jeff shouted.
"Hurry up, everyone!" Su Ting urged.
The group ran desperately and finally stopped in front of the waterfall. The water flowed fiercely, but this was their only way out.
"Ready to jump!" Su Ting shouted the order.
"Alright!" Rena gripped her bow and arrow tightly and took a deep breath.
"I'll risk it all!" Caster brandished his weapon and leaped into the water.
"Follow me!" Leon jumped into the rapids as well.
"We can definitely win!" Xiao Shi shouted firmly, and jumped in as well.
Su Ting glanced back one last time at the pursuing enemy, then leaped into the icy water.
The raging torrent carried them swiftly away from the castle, heading towards an unknown distance...
"We did it!" Rena's voice rang out amidst the sound of water.
"It's not over yet! We need to find a safe place quickly!" Su Ting shouted back.
“Yes, we still have a lot to do!” Jeff added.
They continued struggling through the rapids until they came to an open body of water...
"Is everyone alright?" Su Ting asked.
“No problem, Captain!” Reina replied.
