"No!" Dora lunged forward to stop her. "There's no signal down there, I can't locate the traps! And who knows if there's a self-destruct mechanism? Going down like this is just suicide!"

"Then let me go!" Lin Xiaoyu pushed the crowd aside and raised the bell. "I can use sound waves to detect structural density! As long as I keep shaking it, I can draw a topographic map!"

"Are you crazy? This is the Silent Core!" Dora yelled. "If your bell rings, the entire facility will collapse!"

"Then let it collapse!" Lin Xiaoyu suddenly raised the bell, its crisp sound like a knife slicing through the air. "If this is the price of freedom, I can afford it!"

The boy suddenly reached out and gently pressed Lin Xiaoyu's wrist.

He looked at her with a tenderness that belied his experience of hell.

Chapter 1533 Opening a Crack

“Thank you,” he said, “but this time, let me go first.”

He turned to face the closing door, his voice calm yet undeniably firm:

“I am S-1000. Every number here is a part of my bloodline. I have carried their pain for sixteen years. Now, it is my turn to pay for it.”

Su Ting looked at his thin back and suddenly smiled.

She strode forward and kicked the door frame, forcefully opening the closing metal door a crack.

"Do you remember when you were seven, you stole my ration of bread and got beaten half to death by the guards?" she sneered. "What did I say back then?"

The boy was stunned.

“I said—” she said slowly, her eyes blazing with fury, “If you dare to take on any responsibility alone again, I’ll lock you in a silence pod myself.”

She drew her electromagnetic dagger and made a bloody cut on her palm. The blood dripped to the ground, making a soft hissing sound.

“So, little brother,” she grinned, crimson blood trickling down her wrist, “this time it’s my turn to lead the way.”

Before she could finish speaking, she had already leaped into the darkness.

"Sister—!" the boy exclaimed, only to see her figure already several meters away, a flash of light as she severed the sensor network that was flying through the air.

"Keep up!" her voice came from deep within, "Don't leave me singing alone in loneliness!"

The boy gritted his teeth and finally took the first step.

Lin Xiaoyu followed closely behind, the bell jingling softly, the sound waves spreading like ripples; Dora, clutching the terminal, huddled at the doorway, her fingertips flying, trying to piece together the underground layout from the remaining data.

The steps descended steeply, the air grew colder, and strange patterns began to appear on the walls—reliefs carved from countless tiny names, densely packed and layered.

“S-0001…L-0087…K-0142…” Lin Xiaoyu read, her voice trembling, “These people…all of them have had their records erased…not even death certificates…”

“Because they were never treated as human beings,” the boy whispered. “They were just parts.”

Suddenly, Su Ting's low shout came from ahead: "Stop! Don't move!"

The three of them froze immediately.

At the end of the corridor, a beam of eerie blue light pierced through the passage, and the ground was covered with cracks, through which the churning red magma below could be vaguely seen.

"A thermal trap." Su Ting crouched down and lightly touched the ground with the tip of his knife. "If you step on the wrong step, the entire floor will sink."

“I can create reverse resonance with a bell,” Lin Xiaoyu said through gritted teeth, “but it can only last for thirty seconds.”

"That's enough." Su Ting stood up and sheathed the dagger at his waist. "Twenty seconds is enough for me."

"Are you out of your mind?!" Dora screamed into the communicator. "That's a furnace down there! The temperature is high enough to carbonize a human body instantly!"

“So I have to hurry.” Su Ting turned around and winked at her. “Remember this for me—if I die, say I died for a bunch of bastards who won’t shut up. How cool is that?”

She took a deep breath and dashed out!

The bell rang suddenly, and the sound waves and lasers intersected, forming a brief path. Su Ting, like an arrow released from a bow, leaped and bounded between the light and shadow, each step teetering on the edge of life and death.

Just as she was about to reach the other side, a steel plate under her feet suddenly tilted!

“Oh no—!”

At the critical moment, a small hand suddenly reached out from the darkness and grabbed her wrist tightly!

It's a boy.

He had half his body sticking out of the crack, his fingernails digging into the concrete, and veins bulging on his face.

"Let go!" Su Ting roared. "You'll be dragged away!"

"No!" The boy's eyes were bloodshot. "You said we'd go home together! You promised to get a cat! You can't—die in a place like this!!"

Chapter 1534 Hurry up!

With a roar, he actually pulled Su Ting back!

The two fell to the ground, panting heavily.

After a long while, Su Ting turned to look at him, her voice hoarse: "...It hurts."

"what?"

"My heart." She pressed her hand to the golden spot on her chest, frowning. "It feels like someone is squeezing my heart... pinching it repeatedly."

The boy's pupils suddenly contracted.

"Quick, get out of here!" He scrambled to his feet, his face deathly pale. "It's awake! The mother's original consciousness... it's been waiting for you to come closer!"

The moment the words left his mouth, the entire corridor shook violently!

The names on the wall began to bleed, converging into lines of twisted text:

"Welcome home, container."

"We've been preparing a dream for you for sixteen years."

"Who's talking?!" Lin Xiaoyu looked around in alarm.

“Not anyone,” the boy murmured, “it’s the ‘Mother’ herself… It’s not a machine, it’s alive… It’s born from all the repressed emotions, and Su Ting… is its only outlet.”

"Bullshit!" Su Ting slammed his fist against the wall. "I'm not a container! I'm a fucking person!"

The blood-written characters slowly changed:

"you're right."

"So... let's go see her."

A hidden door slid open silently, revealing a downward spiral staircase.

At the end of the stairs, a glass cabin stands quietly.

Inside the cabin, a female body floats.

Silver hair, eyes closed, face serene, nameplate on chest reads:

【ProjectMother-SubjectZero】

Su Ting trembled violently.

"Mother?"

“No.” The boy gripped her arm tightly. “That’s a replica! The real mother was killed long ago! This is just bait! It’s a fuse to awaken the resonance genes within you!”

But Su Ting had already broken free of his hand and was walking step by step toward the stairs.

"Do you know what she looks like?" Her voice was so soft it was almost inaudible. "I've been dreaming about her since I was little... I dream that she's holding me and singing, I dream that she's crying and begging them to let me go... How could these dreams be fake?"

“Dreams can be implanted!” The boy rushed up and hugged her waist. “Sister, please wake up! This is a trap! As soon as you step onto that step, your heartbeat will be collected synchronously, and the matrix will be fully activated! All the silent cores in the world will be restarted—everything we did before will be in vain!”

Su Ting stopped in his tracks.

She looked down at the boy's tear-streaked face, slowly raised her hand, and touched his head.

Then she smiled.

“Do you know?” she said softly, “once I was injured during a mission and lay in the hospital for three days without waking up. You lay by my bedside and sang to me the whole time.”

The boy nodded: "I know, it's the song I wrote called 'The Stars Will Cry for Us'."

“Hmm.” Su Ting blinked, a tear sliding down her cheek. “Then I woke up. The doctor said that my brainwaves returned to a normal heart rate curve the moment I heard the singing.”

She gripped the golden light at her chest, her gaze unwavering.

"So, if my heart is truly a switch... then only I can decide whether it should be turned on or not."

She broke free from his embrace and stepped onto the first step.

With each step, the golden light shone even brighter.

The boy collapsed to the ground, screaming at the top of his lungs, "Su Ting—!!!"

She didn't look back.

Only when she stood in front of the glass chamber did she raise her hand and gently place it on the cool surface.

“If you really are her…” she whispered, “let me hear your voice.”

In an instant——

The entire underground space shook violently!

Countless rays of light surged in from all directions, wrapped around her arms, and drilled into her heart through her blood vessels.
