It’s not that Aaron has never been to Aunt Josephine’s house, but it is the first time he has entered through the front door.
The car drove into the manor surrounded by high walls.
Aaron looked at it and thought it was magnificent, but the whole house seemed to be shrouded in darkness, hiding in the shadow of the towering mountains behind it.
Emily just got out of the warm carriage, and a cold wind made her fight a cold war.
Although it was really cold, Aaron felt that the more he walked into the house, the more chill he felt.
Emily approached involuntarily in Aaron’s direction, she was a little frightened, she tugged Aaron’s sleeves and motioned Aaron looked towards the second floor of the manor.
Aaron looked up and saw where there were two big bay windows side by side, like two black hole eyes staring at them.
“Do you want to live in those two rooms?” Aunt Josephine obviously misunderstood Aaron’s meaning. “The little child does need more space for activities and a better view. Of course you can live there.”
After passing through the living room with a huge fireplace, they walked along a side corridor to an upward staircase.
Not at all this time, how long do you go, because the rooms aunt Josephine prepared for them are all on the second floor.
“Look at these rooms, do you like them?” Aunt Josephine took Aaron and they looked around in every room on the second floor.
Emily started to feel excited. This house is really good, so many houses, so many closets. She couldn’t imagine how many rooms there are.
There are many toys that little girl likes in the room assigned to Emily. She happily strokes a little white-washed, fluffy kitten doll.
Albert volunteered to take care of the younger sister.
Aunt Josephine took Aaron on.
They hurried forward down the narrow aisle.
Aaron noticed that all the portraits of men and women hung on the walls on the second floor.
They wore strange clothes made of silk and velvet, very gorgeous.
Silencio stared at Aaron in the picture, extremely quiet.
The room Aaron was assigned was very large, with a bathroom and an old-fashioned window seat. He can sit in the window overlooking the manor below.
“Okay, I think you must take some time to organize your luggage. I will prepare food first. You can come down after you pack.”
Aunt Josephine glanced at her watch and moved towards the front door of the room.
The room is so big. Aaron likes a bay window with a window seat. He stepped forward, moved towards and looked out the window.
Through the snow flakes, he saw the little Honda parked in the driveway.
Crossing the fence, he saw some high and low farmhouses scattered on the wilderness.
After Pack saluted, Aaron walked towards the door.
At this moment, he saw the girl who impressed him.
The girl who used to guard the door of the room where he lived.
The girl in a red dress with lurex floating flowers.
With a dark green toad squatting in her hand, she stood expressionless at the door, her eyes sharp, but within a second, she turned and disappeared into the aisle.
“Hey!” Aaron yelled, running towards the aisle, and then stopped outside his bedroom door.
He moved towards 2 and looked at it, “Who is she?”
But there was no one in the long aisle, and all the house doors were closed tightly.
“Albert?” Aaron called out Albert’s name, but no one answered him.
Aaron glanced at the dark hallway one last time, and hurried downstairs.
“Aunt Josephine,” Aaron calmed his heartbeat, “Is this house haunted?”
Aunt Josephine gave Aaron a careless look and laughed softly, seeming to think the question was funny.
“Sorry, no trouble,” she said, and then she looked at Aaron with the two slightly wrinkled blue eyes. “Although this manor is very old and huge, it is not haunted.”
“I… I seem to see a little girl in a red dress.” Aaron said, while staring at Aunt Josephine’s face, he believed his eyes.
“You may have seen the portrait of Clark Young Lady. She is the only portrait that can move freely in the manor.”
Aunt Josephine said, and then directed a row of hot dogs to jump into the frying pan.
Aaron made sure that her eyes were correct, she appeared at the door instead of in the portrait.
He was about to continue to ask, for example, who is Clark Young Lady; why the entire manor’s picture, only she can move around freely; why the characters in those pictures don’t speak or move…
But with the knock on the door, Aunt Josephine stopped talking to Aaron.
Aaron did not miss the relaxed look on her face.
Mr. Harris and Rolan walked in, they still carried a few suitcases.
“Ah, the snow is getting bigger and bigger! I hope your mother and Daisy can come here soon.” After setting up the luggage, Mr. Harris took off his thick coat and walked down in a normal shirt.
As he said, he tucked the hem of his shirt into his pants.
Aaron was surprised to find that Mr. Harris was a bit overweight after not seeing him in a short time. His shirt seemed to be too old to plug and would always fall apart.
Mr. Harris gave up his attempt to tuck the shirt into his pants, rolled up his sleeves, and sat next to Aaron.
“Ha, they are two real looks.” Aunt Josephine nodded in the direction of Rolan and Aaron, and said to Mr. Harris.
Aaron couldn’t tell if it was a compliment.
He and Rolan are tall and thin, both with the same golden hair as Mr. Harris and a pair of light blue eyes.
Nevertheless, Aaron still disagrees with Aunt Josephine’s words. How is he “serious” like Rolan.
Emily is a little child after all. After playing in the living room for a while, she clamored to go out and make a snowman.
Aaron walked with her into the yard.
In the heavy snow, Aaron used Mr. Harris’ wand to pile up all kinds of small animals, which made Emily very happy.
Aaron is also infected, and forgets what happened before.
Mrs. Harris and Daisy finally arrived before dark.
After getting a big hug from Mrs. Harris, Aaron thoughtfully accepted the gifts she brought—all homemade snacks.
Emily bounced and led the way, Mrs. Harris and Daisy followed behind.
But Aaron stopped, something caught his attention.
He looked up at the two identical bay windows on the porch.
He put his hand on his forehead, squinting his eyes and looking through the falling snow.
Yes, he saw it.
A face, in the left window.
That girl.
It was the same girl, upstairs, looking down at Aaron below.
