Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord

#321 - Triwizard Tournament 1

“Looks like your luck isn't bad either, Mr. Green!” Ludo Bagman said with a smile. “However, sir, I still have to remind you to be careful. The Hebridean Black dragons are very belligerent, and they have a strong sense of territory. It won't be easy to get the target item from under its nose.”

“You should also know the rules of the competition: retrieve the golden egg from the dragon's watch.”

“Next,” he continued, “you have already determined the dragons you will face through the draw, and the number on your neck is your order of appearance. Mr. Diggory, as the number one contestant, please pay close attention to the whistle; that will be your signal to enter the arena.”

“Mr. Green? If it's convenient now, come outside the tent with me; I have a few words I'd like to say to you?” Ludo Bagman looked at Jerry, then glanced around at the other contestants. “Don't worry, it's not about the upcoming competition; I am a very fair commentator! I have something else to say to Mr. Green!”

“Alright, Mr. Bagman.” Jerry was slightly surprised. Immediately, he stood up and walked out of the tent with the other man.

Bagman led Jerry to a more secluded thicket. After ensuring they were alone, he turned around and looked at Jerry with a piercing gaze.

“How are your preparations for the competition going, Mr. Green? Do you need me to provide any assistance?” His tone seemed to hide a hint of subtle meaning.

Jerry: ??

He was just saying he was fair in the tent, and now he changes his face as soon as he comes out!

“Do you have a plan on how to deal with the dragon?” Bagman's voice suddenly lowered, sounding somewhat furtive. “If you're willing, I can share a few strategies.”

“Dragons aren't difficult to deal with, at least not for me.” Jerry looked at him and asked curiously, “However, Mr. Bagman, you wouldn't have bet all your money on me, betting on me to win, would you?”

“How could that be? I am a very fair Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports and commentator!” Ludo Bagman quickly waved his hand in denial. “In fact, so far, I haven't placed any bets!”

Ludo Bagman was very excited after seeing Jerry looking so confident and not nervous at all. Suddenly, a clear whistle sounded from the direction of the arena.

“Merlin's beard, I have to run! As the commentator of the competition, I can't be late!” Bagman suddenly exclaimed, then ran away, not forgetting to cheer Jerry on before leaving, “Mr. Green, I wish you a great success! After the competition, let's have a good chat!”

Jerry frowned. When he returned to the tent, he found that Cedric was gone, obviously having entered the arena.

“Are you ready how to deal with the dragon?” Jerry sat back next to Fleur and chatted with her.

“The competition is about to start, so it doesn't matter if I tell you,” Fleur smiled. “I've prepared a Stunning Spell!”

“A Stunning Spell? Is that all?” Jerry was slightly surprised, his tone also full of curiosity.

“Simple?” Fleur looked at Jerry with a smile. “Next time, I can find an opportunity to let you try it and see what's the difference between the allure of a Veela witch and the Stunning Spell compared to yours!”

“A very interesting idea, but it's useless against the dragon!”

Bagman's commentary echoed through the cracks of the tent, like an invisible wind, making the emotions of the three people inside the tent, except for Jerry, even more tense. They couldn't help but conjure up scenes of extreme danger in their minds.

After about fifteen minutes, a thunderous cheer suddenly broke through the sky, its meaning self-evident: Cedric had successfully obtained the golden egg.

“Next, let our judges give fair scores!” Bagman's voice was amplified, almost piercing everyone's eardrums.

However, the people inside the tent did not hear the specific details of Cedric's score. Immediately afterward, another clear whistle cut through the air, accompanied by Bagman's loud announcement: “Miss Delacour, it's your turn!”

“It's my turn to enter!” Fleur stood up, took a deep breath, lightly kissed Jerry on the cheek, then raised her head high, wand tightly in hand, and left the tent.

Before long, Ludo Bagman's commentary sounded again.

Ten minutes passed in a flash, and Jerry heard the thunderous cheers and applause of the audience again. He already knew in his heart that Fleur must have succeeded as well.

With the end of the scoring session, the third whistle pierced the sky, announcing the appearance of the next champion.

“Next, let's welcome Mr. Krum!” Bagman's voice was full of passion.

Krum's figure seemed a little heavy. Only Jerry and Harry were left in the tent, and Harry's heart was beating nervously like a drum.

“A very dangerous move! It's too risky!” Bagman's voice came from outside, followed by the heart-pounding, sky-tearing scream of the Chinese Fireball dragon.

“But he succeeded, he also got the golden egg!” Bagman's announcement was like a victory horn, igniting the overwhelming applause from the audience.

Krum had successfully completed his match, and Harry was about to enter the arena.

“Don't be nervous!” Jerry looked at Harry, who was pale, and said, “Remember to summon your flying broom as soon as you enter the arena.”

Harry didn't speak, just barely squeezed out a smile.

With the sound of the fourth whistle, Harry also left the tent, and now only Jerry was left here.

The noise from the audience was like a boiling ocean, with waves of sound coming one after another. Bagman's voice penetrated the noise and could be heard clearly.

“He actually summoned the flying broom, but that's not against the rules!”

“Oh no, the Hungarian Horntail is about to catch up with him!”

Immediately afterward, there were incredible exclamations from the crowd.

“Look! Potter did it! He successfully won the golden egg, and he spent less time than the previous few! This will be a bonus for him!”

There was another overwhelming noise. Jerry knew it was his turn to appear!

Soon, the fifth whistle cut through the sky. Jerry took a deep breath, moved his right wrist, left the tent, passed through the fence at the edge of the field, and stepped into the arena!

In front of Jerry on the stands, hundreds and thousands of faces converged into a sea of people. Their eyes were like blazing flames, locked on Jerry, and the noise of cheers rose and fell.

On the other end of the arena, the Hebridean Black dragon squatted low, its wings half-folded.

As Jerry entered the arena, the Hebridean Black dragon seemed to sense the danger, suddenly stood up, spread its wings, and its huge purple eyes flashed with a fierce light, staring at Jerry.

“Jerry,” Professor McGonagall's voice came from the passage behind Jerry, “Dumbledore asked me to remind you, don't use all the spells!”

Jerry pursed his lips and secretly rolled his eyes. Dumbledore just likes to worry unnecessarily. I can't just go up and hit the black dragon with a 'Devouring Curse'!

“Fire Style: Protego Diabolica!”

Dragon against dragon, makes sense!
