Kotori often comes to my room. Whenever he has an errand, he lands on my rooms windowsill. It’s no problem when it happens in the morning or at noon, but sometimes he turns up in the middle of the night.

Well, it’s fine since it’s the morning right now.

I spread out the beautiful white feathers and look for the thorn.

“Where is it stuck?”

『Ah, yes. To the right, right.』

I search according to the instructions that sound like an itchy old man asking to scratch an inappropriate place.

There are a lot of feathers and it is hard to understand. Where are is the thorn?

『Ah, almost, up! Left! Go back!』

“Ah, there’s something on the other side… There it is! There’s a small twig-like object… Yeah”

『…. Oh! ….. Ooh, I feel better.』

Now that the thorn is pulled out, Kotori spreads his wings to make sure both of them are fine.

『I’m saved. Now I can fly in the sky without worries. I will never forget this favor.』

“Yeah yeah, watch out for the branches next time.”

『Yes! See ya!』

Kotori flaps his wings and flies away from the window into the sky.

I watched Kotori getting smaller and smaller in the cloudy sky.

“What were you doing, Jed?”

My sister Julia suddenly called out to me. She is looking suspiciously at me through the door.

I wonder if she was watching and saw everything. That would be embarassing.

“Well, it looks like there was a thorn stuck in Kotori’s wing.”

“Just now, that white anybird? It’s a very timid bird that rarely gets close to people. That’s rare.”

That white bird has that name. I don’t think it’s shy. I comes to mess around my room.

“What makes you say that Julia?”

I change the topic because I don’t want to say that I was talking to an anybird.

“Oh, my mother called. You’ve got to go study.”

“Okay.”

“Please do your best.”

“Yes.”

By big sister Julia closes the door and leaves. I close the window and head towards the first floor to go to the study room.

I started studying recently. Words and calculations are easy, but I have to memorize aristocratic manners and the history of the Adlet kingdom as they are completely subjects for me.

Anyway, I’m a third son, so I don’t think it’s meaningful to study even though I’m not succeeding the territory. When I’m a bit older, I want to become an adventurer and travel around this world. I wanted to do it in this world because I died suddenly in my previous life and couldn’t travel satisfactorily. The language barrier has already disappeared thanks to the goddess Meliarina, but in this world there is a dangerous barrier called a monster.

I’m worried about it, but I can’t travel if I’m concerned about that. It’s important to talk about it, though.

There’s nothing absolute in the world, so I will move forward with courage.

But I’m scared, so I’m doing my best to study magic. I regularly go and see big brother Gillion, but is it improving my magical powers?

Well, anyway, I still have time, so I will do my best.

I might learn swordsmanship from my brother Gladys, or from dad.
