Chapter 240: Is She Dead?

And the man pronounced his name precisely with a frightening tone. Danil gritted his teeth tightly. He realized that in the end, Count Clovis had spoken about everything. Danil thought that he was able to completely silence him by saying that Clovis would receive an even harsher penalty if he were to leak the information, but it seemed that the weak willed man couldn’t win against the king’s threats.

Danil lifted his head and looked up. With the way things are going, he knows that he will be ending up dying here. He didn’t even have a single thought about pleading for his life. Danil could see a man’s face completely filled with rage growl at him angrily.

Danil smiled. “Igor Cessca, you are too late. The queen is already dead by drinking poison herself.”

Igor’s face immediately froze up. “…Poison?”

His voice sounded as if it froze up in a single moment. Hearing that, Danil felt a wave of satisfaction. He always wished to one day see the man who humiliated Chrichton as well as him crumble before his eyes at least once.

“I had given it to the queen. Gave her the choice whether to die in a fire or to die by drinking poison.”

“That was long ago already. The queen’s body is probably already growing cold at this moment.”

The king’s face started to distort as if his very soul had left him. His eyes filled with shock shook terribly, as his steps became wobbled. The king left Danil behind and immediately ran towards the hut. Igor saw Danil’s men going towards him. In that moment, without a single hesitation, Igor sliced their neck.

When Igor opened the door to the hut, the interior was dark as the deep night, perhaps because there was no interior lighting. It was a place that he already felt familiar with. 6 years ago he had opened the door to the prison in the same status.

The horrifying memory he had of the past once again came over to him. To the moment where he was chasing after Rihannan after she saw him and Leticia together and was running away from him.

Although he called her name out in desperation, it seemed that she couldn’t hearing anything at all through her ears. He had hoped that once he grabs her and give her a proper explanation of everything, that she would understand it in the end.

However after running out of his mind for a while, what he saw was her stumbling on the top of the stairs. Rihannan, who was tilting downwards while putting her hand up to her forehead as if she was feeling dizzy, made Igor throw himself at her.

The memories of what happened afterwards were fuzzy. Although he was successful in grabbing her and putting her in his arms, he wasn’t able to stop the fall. As he rolled down the stairs, hard blocks of stones of the stairs shot pain through his body over and over. At the bottom, he smashed his head hard down onto the hard ground floor. Feeling hot blood pour down his face, he felt the world grow dark around him.

“Igor?”

A light slowly started to pour in through his dark vision. His body felt heavy as if he had too much to drink. He felt as if that opening his eyelids were the hardest thing to do in the world.
