Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 194 - Ch. 194 The Black People

Chleo and Ashley didn't know how long their ride was, but the jeep finally stopped somewhere. During the journey, neither Chleo nor Ashley dared to look at the black people who were busy staring at them with an intangible look. They preferred to stare at the grip of their hands while giving each other support for each other.

The two of them could only breathe a sigh of relief when the jeep they were riding in stopped. Even so, they were still vigilant and cautious. After all, they were in a foreign place and with people who didn't seem to be American.

The back door of the jeep swung open, and one of the black men waved at Chleo and Ashley. His hand movements seemed to tell them to get out of the car and follow the person.

Chleo and Ashley looked at each other in doubt before finally deciding to get out of the vehicle and follow the person who called them. As far as they could see, there wasn't a single white person like Chleo and Ashley. Everyone around them was black and was looking at them curiously.

Some looked at them with disgust or scorn, but most looked at them with curiosity.

"Chleo, why do I feel like we're not in America?"

Chleo bit her lip, hearing her friend's doubts. She was thinking the same thing even before Ashley made her guess. If Chleo didn't know that Vectis was after her life, then maybe she would laugh at Ashley's theory.

There's no way they could have relocated so quickly, let alone abroad.

But she remembered that Vectis had almost killed her and brought her from Washington to New York in only a few hours. She couldn't help but suspect that Vectis was the main reason they were in this strange place.

The question is, why did Ashley come here too? Is it possible that Ashley is part of the Vectis conspiracy? If so, doesn't that mean she's in danger right now?

Chleo should have just left the girl and let her die in the desert if Ashley had been in cahoots with Vectis. But what if Chleo was wrong? What if it turns out that Ashley has absolutely nothing to do with the evil mystical creature?

Chleo let out her most extended sigh since she woke up in the middle of the desert. For the time being, she would regard Ashley as her ally at the same time, she would watch the girl's movements.

"If this isn't America, then where are we now?" Chleo didn't answer Ashley's guess directly and asked a trick question.

"I think… we are in Africa."

One of Chleo's eyebrows shot up hearing this. How did Ashley know they were in Africa? Was it possible that the girl was indeed in cahoots with Vectis?

"How do you know?"

"Just guessing." Ashley herself didn't know why she could be so sure they were in Africa.

Chleo decided to shut up and didn't comment anymore, and the two walked in silence. Chleo glanced around her to analyze her surroundings. She wanted to find a way out of this place in case the situation started to endanger their lives.

They were still in the middle of the desert, but there were now so many tents and wooden houses in this place. It seemed that these black people were not permanent residents and were only staying on this site temporarily.

Chleo also saw that there were several jeeps parked neatly in a particular field. If she wanted to escape, she had to steal the car keys and take one of the jeeps.

Their guide stopped at a huge white tent and invited the two girls to come inside.

The two of them both steeled their hearts and entered the tent, and their noses were assaulted with a delicious aroma that greatly aroused their appetites.

There was an obese black woman with very scanty clothes. The woman only wrapped a dull cloth covering her two breasts and her feminine area. Her hair was in a messy bun and wrapped in a similar fabric.

The woman was cooking a dish that gave off a delicious aroma that Chleo and Ashley couldn't think of another event. Their minds have been distracted by the smell of the food and only focus on that mouth-watering aroma.

They didn't even think about the possibility of poison in the food that would be served. Not long after the two sat down at the dining table, two bowls of indistinct cream-colored soup lay before them. Their mouth was almost watering as they were starving and had drained their stamina on the desert.

Under normal conditions, they would no doubt be disgusted and wonder about the soup. The soup was very thick, creamy and there were grains like sand in it. Not to mention the color was ashen, like expired food that has gone stale.

Unfortunately, they were not in normal condition. They had walked in the scorching sun for hours without eating or drinking. Both of them were girls who their well-to-do families doted on.

Therefore, both of them couldn't stand the desire to fill their empty stomachs immediately.

Little did they know, they should have endured their craving no matter mouth-watering the aroma was. It was because of the strange smell that aroused their appetite as if they hadn't eaten for weeks.

Without being told twice, Chleo and Ashley just devoured the soup as if the soup was their very last meal. They couldn't even taste the flavor, but they didn't care.

"@$#%[email protected]#" The woman who had given them soup started talking to them. Unfortunately, Chleo and Ashley couldn't understand anything the woman was talking about.

"What should we do?"

Chleo sighed in resignation. She couldn't understand why Ashley kept asking her what to do as if Chleo knew the answer.

Just as Chleo was about to say something to the woman in black, her head suddenly felt dizzy, and her sight became blurry. Seconds later, Chleo's head fell to the ground on the table, followed by Ashley, who also fainted.

As expected, there was indeed something inside the soups.
