Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 196 - Ch. 196 Escape

"Ugh!" Chleo had just entered into her beautiful dream. Memories where she played cheerfully with her ice prince under the ocean.

She had even mounted the whale that her ice prince summoned and was about to dive even deeper when she felt a great shake. All of a sudden, she heard a female voice that kept calling him.

"Hey, wake up!"

Chleo immediately pushed away from the two hands that shook her body violently. "I'm awake," replied Chleo irritably and sat down, glancing around them.

Where is this? Could they be taken as hostages? If she knew this would happen, Chleo wouldn't eat the weird thick soup no matter how starving she was.

Chleo bit her nails without realizing it. It was her habit that she would bite her fingers if she were too nervous or anxious. Usually, Chleo never showed this behavior in front of strangers, and Ashley had never seen one either. Oddly enough, Ashley felt she had seen Chleo often bite her finger in the deepest of her memories.

"Have you ever dyed your hair?"

Chleo's biting stopped, then glanced at Ashley confusedly. Why did Ashley ask about her hair when they were in an unsafe situation?

Ignoring Ashley, who seemed lost in her own world, Chleo stood up and tried to open the exit door. As she feared, this door was locked, and they wouldn't be able to get out of this place.

Would those black people kill them? No! She didn't want to die yet.

Chleo tried to kick the door as hard as she could, causing Ashley to widen her eyes in shock. An ear-splitting crash was heard, followed by Chleo's whimpering with a pained expression.

Without a second thought, Ashley rushed over to Chleo in a panic. She didn't even realize that she was apprehensive about Chleo's leg condition.

"What are you doing? Why did you kick the door? Are you an iron man?" Ashley's tone and words sounded cynical, but her attitude was the complete opposite of her words. Instead, the girl helped Chleo to walk and sat down to straighten her legs, which had just kicked the rusty iron door.

Chleo herself was astonished by Ashley's treatment of her. How could she feel any concern from the girl?

"You're worried about me?"

Ashley immediately realized and freed herself from Chleo's body, causing Chleo to fall to the floor violently. Once again, Chleo screamed in pain as her buttocks kissed the floor hard without warning.

Chleo stared dagger at Ashley. If the girl had no intention of helping her, why was Ashley supporting her in the first place?

"Who's worried about you?" refuted Ashley nonchalantly, then walked over and sat away from Chleo.

Chleo just rolled her eyes lazily then kneaded her leg, which was now starting to hurt.

Time flies fast without them knowing it, and it had been days for them without someone rescue them. They were locked in this room with no light or window. Only a few tiny holes provide a little light during the day, but only a pitch-black welcomed them when the night came.

They were only fed twice a day, and apart from that, the black people did nothing but confine them without any light.

Whether it was luck or the carelessness of the black man, Ashley found a rusty dagger under a haystack. Ashley quietly took the dagger and hid it in the corner while she sat covering the dagger.

This did not go unnoticed by Chleo. At first, Chleo suspected that Ashley was just playing the victim in front of her. She believed Ashley deliberately approached her to catch her off guard. That girl had tried to kidnap her once, so there was a chance that Ashley would do it again, right? Only this time, the girl was acting and behaving as if she was the victim like Chleo.

Not to mention, every time they passed out, it was always Ashley who woke her up as if the girl had never fainted in the first place. Ashley could also think about the possibility of them being in Africa, which only made her suspicions stronger.

Now that the girl had found the dagger and kept it to herself, Chleo was even warier. She would remind herself not to be near Ashley. Only god knew that girl would always be ready to stab her with that dagger once they were close enough.

That day none of them spoke as if they were strangers and did not know each other. Ashley felt idle to talk to Chleo, while Chleo felt wary of Ashley, so she didn't want to talk to the girl. Chleo didn't want to be careless in the slightest.

Then it was time for their food to be delivered. Ashley curled up while holding her stomach. As soon as the door opened, Ashley winced in pain as she sobbed.

Well, Chleo didn't know if Ashley was crying or not because she was curled up into a ball so that only the back of her head and her torso were visible.

"Ow, my stomach hurts so much. Help me… sob…."

Chleo raised an eyebrow in wonder. What is this girl doing? Isn't she just fine a minute ago? But... it looks real. Is she truly in pain?

The person who brought them the food went straight to Ashley after placing their food on the floor.

Something unexpected happened as the person approached Ashley. Suddenly Ashley pulled the dagger she had hidden and stabbed it on the person's leg, who happened to be barefoot.

Chleo shrieked in horror at the blood that came out and the excruciating screams of the black man. The man raised his hand to slap Ashley, but the girl's reaction was faster than him.

Ashley dodged so nimbly while kicking the person's back until he fell into the corner of the room. When the man stood up, Ashley kicked that man's precious jewel to make the man faint that instant. The fearless girl immediately ran to Chleo, grabbed her hand, and then ran as fast as possible to escape from this place.

Ashley didn't know how she had the courage to fight back, but she followed her instincts.

For the past few days, Ashley had been peeking outside through the light in the small hole. It wasn't as big as her little finger, but it was enough to analyze the surrounding them. Not to mention, the hole was almost in every place so that Ashley could map this area vaguely.

By looking through the hole to keep an eye on the movements of their captors, Ashley learned where she could get the car keys and stole one of their cars to escape.

Chleo, who was still in shock from what had happened, couldn't react and let Ashley drag her violently towards somewhere. Ashley took one of the keys with a skull hook and headed straight for the jeep.

Ashley already knew the black man's routine of always doing something in a place some distance away from this place. Thus, she could escape without getting caught as most black people were not in this place.

Ashley quickly opened the jeep's door that had been her target for the last few hours and started the engine as soon as Chleo got into the car.

Ashley sped the vehicle as fast as possible and didn't slow down even after leaving the area.

After traveling quite a distance and confident that they would not be chased, Chleo began to speak.

"What was that? How did you do it?"

"I've studied karate before," replied Ashley.

"Then how do you know which car keys to take?"

"I watched their movements from the hole in the wall."

"Hole? What hole?" Chleo continued to ask in an interrogating tone.

"There were small holes in every corner of the wall. After all, it was just an ordinary brick wall and had not been used for a long time. So they won't suspect if I peek through the hole. They won't notice it either, because every time someone walked into our confine place, I act normal."

"…"

"This is our advantage of being a girl. They'll look down on us and won't know what we're up to." Ashley finished her sentence in a proud tone. For some reason, she felt delighted boasting herself in front of Chleo.

Unfortunately, Chleo thought otherwise.

"Are you sure it wasn't because they let us go on purpose? It's possible that they followed your charade and wanted to kill me secretly."

!!

Ashley braked the car suddenly because she was offended by Chleo's sarcasm. Unfortunately, they are still above the desert, so when the vehicle stopped suddenly at high speed, one of the wheels hit the ground unevenly, causing the car to sway sideways.

Ashley, who was not very good at driving a car, swerved, making the vehicle even more unbalanced. As a result, the vehicle spun quickly, making Ashley and Chleo's heads feel dizzy from being twisted repeatedly.

Finally, the car stopped rolling, but the stopping place was not safe because part of the jeep was right at the top of the highest sandplain, which would fall if it lost its balance.
