Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 220 - Ch. 220 Two Rulers Vs Vectis's Herd

Without waiting, Chu Jung let the fiery turmoil inside him overflow again, creating a smoldering fire all over his body.

It's just that there was something different about the flame on his body. As if the fire had its own thinking, it bulged like a face… to be exact, the face of a monster as well as the gripping hands that rested on Chu Jung's shoulders.

Not long after, the fire monster leaped from Chu Jung's body and spread out to attack the Vectis who surrounded them. Surprisingly, the same fire monster still leaned back and gripped both of Chu Jung's shoulders.

The monster that just jumped was like its duplicate and was now actively attacking the Vectis.

Vectis didn't stand still and attacked the fire monsters, and the others attacked Chu Jung's group, who were still standing where they were.

However, before Vectis reached a position to attack Alpha, the red wolf belonging to the red king, another fire monster jumped from Chu Jung's body and attacked the Vectis.

Some managed to cleave Chu Jung's fire monster, but there were even those halves that came alive and attacked them again.

More and more fire monsters and the air around them was getting more boiling. Ashley began to sweat, and she felt she couldn't breathe.

Ashley felt as if she had run out of oxygen and was in a closed coffin that was now above the kiln.

Realizing the human girl's breathing became panting, Bai Yu covered Ashley's body with his wings while circulating the air. Now Ashley felt like a cool breeze was caressing her, and she started to breathe again.

On the other hand, Harmonie was concentrating on something without giving a hand to the lone fighter. She had purposely allowed the fire monsters to multiply and spread to outnumber the Vectis.

Moni knew the Vectis were not easily defeated by the flame, and they would never be able to defeat these Vectis. But that doesn't mean the Vectis could corner the two joined-hands rulers.

They would unite their strength to pave the way for them to leave this place. They didn't have to defeat them. All Harmonie needed to do was to open a gap in between this herd of these alien creatures.

This was Max's purpose of getting the help of the other rulers of nature. He knew he couldn't forcibly open the portal, and neither could he save Chleo alone against so many Vectis.

After concentrating for about ten minutes, Harmonie opened her eyelids, revealing a glowing golden eye color. She raised her hands, and a globoid of air appeared out of nowhere.

The globoid air was initially small but continued to grow like an igloo house at the north pole.

Harmonie put her palms together like she was praying, then put her hands under the globoid air. Harmonie spread her arms to two different sides with a quick movement, causing the giant air ball to break apart and spread out in a circular wind wave.

The powerful wave hit the fire monster… or rather, it fused with each other, and instantly the fire monster's body flared up to become even more violent than ever.

The Vectis didn't expect that there would be such a powerful vortex mixed with fire. They could handle it if it was just wind, but mixed with fire… they could barely see around, and it felt like the fire was taking all the oxygen around them. The sudden wave made Vectis have a hard time breathing and seeing.

Harmonie and Chu Jung both smiled contentedly that they finally saw a crack in between the massive Vectis while the creatures were overwhelmed by the sudden wind-fire element wave.

Harmonie and Bai Yu darted straight into the crack without wasting time while stomping the wind around them, sending the Vectis flying far away.

On the other hand, Chu Jung went straight to Ashley, carried her bridal style, and jumped up onto Alpha.

Ashley felt her brain freeze when two strong arms wrapped around her shoulders and under her knees. All of a sudden, she was seated on the giant wolf, and the next second, Alpha lunged and shot off at high speed.

While Harmonie's group and Chu Jung's were on their way to the rendezvous point, Max and Chleo had arrived at the assignation place.

With the gentlest possible movement, Falcon flew low so as not to make Chleo feel dizzy or nauseous.

As soon as Falcon landed on the ground, Max tucked his hand under her knee while the other wrapped around Chleo's shoulder. Automatically, Chleo wrapped her arms around Max's neck, seeing Max's intention to carry her.

She was wondering how someone could carry her as if she weighed nothing. But then again, Max was no ordinary man.

Max jumped off Falcon's back and landed on the ground perfectly, making Chleo's heart skip a beat.

It wasn't because she was being hugged and receiving attention from her lover, but her heart was pounding as she felt her adrenaline rise when she felt the force of gravity tugging at her body.

It seemed that she had experienced deep trauma from heights. Chleo felt sure that she would not dare to stand in such a high place after this.

"Are you scared?"

Chleo looked up to see a pair of blue eyes staring at her with a gentle gaze.

"A little," was her honest answer.

Max pulled Chleo's shoulder closer without lowering the girl, then gave a light kiss on Chleo's forehead and said, "There's nothing for you to be afraid of while I'm here."

Chleo smiled, hearing that, then rested her head on the man's shoulder comfortably.

She wasn't afraid to face Vectis when Max was by her side. She didn't know who was stronger between Vectis or Max. But she felt that she would be fine as long as Max was with her.

Perhaps she had complete trust in the man so that she no longer felt anxious or afraid.

However, the moment she felt gravity pull her body down, she couldn't help but tremble in fear.

Even though she knew the distance between Falcon's rear and the ground was only minor, and Max was by her side, her heart still couldn't calm down as she felt her body descend swiftly.

Chleo took a deep breath, knowing it would take a long time to shake off the trauma of falling from a height.

Falcon turned back into an ordinary eagle to recover his energy as he had used up a lot of stamina to fly at high speed in order to reach Chleo in time.

Max still carried Chleo and walked towards an uninhabited cave. They were greeted by a female red wolf.

"Luna?" Chleo remembered she had met Luna when she was a child. Is this Luna the same as the Luna she met once?

"No. She's not the red wolf you've met before." as if he could read Chleo's mind, Max answered her in a gentle tone.

Chleo was even more amazed at how easily Max understood her thoughts.

"Tell me the truth. You can read minds, can't you?"

Max chuckled in amusement, hearing the girl's question. "No. But I can hear yours."

"You can?" that was unexpected.

"And you believe me?"

"You!" now Chleo realized Max was teasing her. "How dare you tease me at this moment."

"But it could lessen your anxiety."

Yes, it could. Chleo was less anxious and worried now, thanks to Max's teasing.

Max went inside then sat on a large rock while Chleo was positioned sitting on his lap.

Luna came in following them and lay relaxed near Max's feet, leaned her head on her legs, and closed her eyes.

Chleo was about to get up so she could sit up on her own, but Max's arms now wrapped around her stomach holding her back.

"Max, I'm not a kid."

"No one said you were a kid."

"I can sit alone."

"Then just say I'm the one because I want to hold you."

"..." Chleo was speechless when she heard her lover's absurd words.

This man told her that Max was a kid, but he said he wanted to hold her in his lap? Which kid could have an adult on his lap??

Even though Chleo felt frustrated with this super absurd logic, she didn't rebel. Instead, her heart felt happy, and her lips curled into a satisfied smile.

It had been a long time since she had seen his mischievous and teasing lover. That's why she was happy that Max was back to being the way he was again.

"You're finally back."

Max tilted his head with a confused look.

"You've changed since we separated, but I don't know what's different about you. Now you're back to the Max I know."

Max was still smiling at her explanation, but he didn't speak further. However, Chleo was still aware of the dim light of the man's blue eyes when he heard her answer.

"Max?"

Maximillian pulled Chleo's head gently and leaned it against his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, but not so tightly that Chleo could suffocate.

Chleo understood that at this moment, Max didn't want Chleo to see his expression, so Chleo complied and let Max hug her like this.

"Chleo, I have something to hide from you."
