Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 236 - Ch. 236 The Vectis's Purpose

After finishing dinner, the three rulers discussed with Vectis something urgent with a tense atmosphere. On the contrary, Chleo and Ashley sat a little apart along with the guardian beasts.

Alpha adjusted his frame into a smaller size like an average adult dog and laid down sleeping next to Ashley's feet. Meanwhile, Falcon was perched on Chleo's shoulder and Bai Yu, like a lazy cat going back to sleep on Chleo's lap.

Only Luna was still in her actual form, so the two girls could sit leaning against her body while her tail covered the two girls' bodies.

The air in this world was getting colder as time went by. The sky seemed to be getting darker, and the strange sound of birds outside the cave was chirping incoherently.

It seemed that this world also had a night, but they didn't expect the temperature at night to be so contrasting with the day.

Luckily Chu Jung had created a bonfire, so they all didn't have to get cold.

"So, are you going to explain to me what I saw earlier?"

"..." Ashley suddenly turned into a silent person.

"Ash, even though we've only been close for the past few days, I know you're not a girl who can just kiss a stranger. Or was it possible that you hit your head when you fell?"

"It's all because of your sister."

"My sister? Oh, Moni? What does it have to do with her?"

"Your sister said that I should kiss him on the cheek to express my gratitude because he saved me."

"But you kissed his mouth."

Ashley couldn't argue that, and she felt like her inside was burning up. She even could feel smoke rising from the top of her head.

"It… It was a mistake. I don't know why he suddenly turned his head to face me. I didn't mean to kiss him like that." Ashley explained frantically.

"Anyway, it's not what you think," added Ashley without intending to explain further.

She would forget what happened earlier and think of it as a temporary sweet dream.

After all, they would never see each other again after this was over. Chu Jung would return to his home country, and Ashley would return to Seattle to continue her life.

She would continue her plan of searching for an ideal future husband.

"Okay. Let's just say it was an accident, then. But I'm curious about something. You really do know that he's still a child, right? He's like... fourteen."

Ashley's lips pursed forward at this question. "Of course I know. Why do you ask like that?"

"It does not matter. I'm just worried that you'll forget his real age. Well, I guess it's okay if you fall in love with him. My auntie Meisya is four years older than her husband." And Max was almost a century older than her! "Love does not see age. But I thought you'd rather fall in love with a much mature man instead of..."

"Hold on! What are you talking about? Why are you talking like I'm in love with that snotty kid?"

"Aren't you?"

"I'm not!" Unknowingly her voice slightly raised as she answered Chleo.

"You scared me. Why are you angry?"

Ashley glared at Chleo, who seemed to be teasing her instead. "Hmph!" Ashley turned around and laid down, using Luna's back as a pillow.

Chleo chuckled, amused to see her friend pouting at her, then glanced at the group who were still discussing something.

Chleo looked out of the cave, which was now pitch black without the slightest light. Not long after, drowsiness began to attack her, and she fell asleep.

Two human girls were fast asleep with Luna's soft fur cushions and a warm blanket from the red wolf's tail. Bai Yu had also fallen asleep on Luna's tail and Alpha, whose head was now under Ashley's arm.

No one knew when the much smaller-size Alpha slipped into Ashley's sleeping arms, making a pair of red eyes that saw it feel jealous.

Chu Jung was now standing watching the sleeping face of the beautiful girl in front of him.

Max also stood next to him just to make sure his little wife-to-be could sleep well. Then he glanced at the little Alpha, who seemed to be sleeping contentedly in Ashley's arms, making him smile a little.

"Looks like Alpha found your soul mate."

"Ha?"

"You'll find out in about two years."

"Why do I have to wait that long?"

"That is the optimal age for a ruler to reach maturity."

"Then I won't be an adult. I've had enough of what it's like to be an adult. And it's really exhausting."

Max chuckled at the young man's response. "You may talk like that at this moment, but you'll change your mind once you reach adulthood. You may not realize it, but your heart is already drawn to that girl."

"You mean I'd like her?"

"Do you hate her?"

"No, I like her…." Chu Jung immediately closed his mouth tightly, realizing his mistake.

He admitted he liked this beautiful girl but is his liking the same as the feelings of a man towards a woman? He didn't know at all.

So far, Chu Jung had never been approached by many people, especially with the opposite sex. They all ran in fear as soon as they saw his red eyes. No matter young or old, everyone would be afraid and try to avoid him as far as possible at their first meeting.

But Ashley… only this beautiful girl, didn't avoid him the first time they met.

Maybe she was scared, but she didn't dodge or scream hysterically like most girls her age did.

"Can I ask something?"

"Go ahead."

"What was it like when you met sister Chleo for the first time?"

Max smiled gently at this question. He tried to remember the first time when he saw a red-haired girl sitting alone drinking beer.

"It feels so perfect. When I saw her face for the first time, I felt like watching the rising sun warm the earth. When I looked into her eyes, I felt like I was at the top of a mountain and immersed in the beauty beneath my feet. When I heard her voice, I felt like I heard birds chirping in the morning. That's pretty much how it feels."

"Can I puke?"

Both Max and Chu Jung immediately turned towards the sound source and saw Harmonie sitting with her chin on her palms resting on her knees.

"Don't throw up here. I don't want my wife to wake up because of the bad scent."

Harmonie rolled her eyes lazily while Chu Jung stared wide-eyed at his last sentence.

Wife? So the blue king is married to Chleo? Since when?

"Not yet. She has not married him in this present life." as if she could hear the question from deep within Chu Jung's heart, Harmonie casually replied. "I just remembered now. What are you going to do when Chleo remembers?"

Max smiled sadly without answering. He felt he was awakened from his sweet dream to be faced with this cruel reality.

"I will think about it later after we get out of this world."

Chu Jung, who didn't know anything, was confused by their change of topic. Finally, he decided to rest by lying next to Luna's head where Ashley lay.

He still didn't understand what love was, but he did know one thing. He wanted to be close to the girl.

While Harmonie sat leaning against the cave wall next to Chleo and Max didn't sleep just in case.

Because Max had been the one expending the least amount of energy, so at least he let his fellow rulers sleep to restore their strength energy.

As for Vectis, who was now sitting with his legs crossed, his eyes closed while his horns glowed dimly.

The Vectis looked like he was asleep, but in truth, he was trying to capture any information that had spread throughout this realm.

Vectis didn't know what device had ravaged the violet king's astral world, but at least he knew the reason why the Vectis were after Chleo's soul.

A secret association contained the rebellious Vectis to fight Aslan, the ruler of the upper world. They were all fed up with all the rules that Aslan gave and wanted to turn against Aslan.

But they knew they couldn't win against Aslan on their own. That's why they collect the souls of humans who had received some energy from the rulers.

They managed to obtain the energy souls of the yellow, blue, and violet king energies. What remains was the red one.

At that time, their target was Chleora Regnz, who received a life energy transfusion from the red king.

The flow of energy and the transfusion of life energy were different because the percentage range of power was also incomparable.

That's why they used human hands who happened to hate Alexis Peshkov by giving them deadly poison. They had considered Chleo's nature and character at that time and knew Chleo would take the poison pill to kill Alexis.

All investigators believed the target of this assassination was Alexis. Moreover, the mastermind of the murder was a human who hated Alexis.

But in truth, their target from the start was Chleo. Vectis also intervened in eliminating the traces of the human who gave Chleo the poison so that the blue king did not recognize the presence of Vectis that had influenced the human mind.

No wonder no one had been able to trace the traces of the poison sender in his previous life.
