Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 248 - Ch. 248 The First Encounter (1)

Note: This is the flashback of Chleo's previous life.

The sun rises brightly like the previous morning, and the birds chirp delightfully. The gentle breeze made the heart of anyone who wakes up in the morning feeling calm and peaceful.

But it wasn't the same case with a certain young girl.

She woke up feeling lifeless as if there was a weight on her shoulder. But she had to get up and get ready to go to the assessment venue.

Today was the day of the final practicum assessment. It didn't matter if it was an art or cookery assessment. But the evaluation this time was something she beyond doubt didn't like.

No.

She even hated this kind of assessment. If possible, she wanted to beg her father to persuade her principal to eliminate this kind of practicum evaluation.

But…

She didn't even know where her father was.

She didn't remember when her family life became so discouraging like this. Her father and mother were rarely at home, and only the butler and a few servants accompanied her daily life with her baby brother.

She rarely communicated with her parents and could only talk to her brother or the guards assigned to protect her.

Back when she was a child, she longed to seek the warmth of her mother's arms to soothe her from her nightmares. Every night she would go into her parents' room to sleep with them, and she felt her nightmares would not haunt her if her parents were by her side.

But…

Her mother always cried for no reason every time she slept beside her. The poor little girl felt an invisible wall preventing her from approaching her mother.

At one point, she gave up and no longer entered her parents' room. Every night she had to face her nightmares alone as if no one could hear her cries.

As time went on, she had gotten used to this life. She did not mind the strained relationship with her parents.

Until one day, the heartless, uncaring mother suddenly approached her and apologized to her. But it was too late. She no longer wanted her mother's love like she used to, and she no longer needed the warmth of her mother's embrace.

When her mother tried to break the invisible wall between them, she built it much taller and stronger. She didn't let her father nor mother touch her fragile heart.

She had it enough and decided to shut the whole world out.

The teenage girl only let her younger brother approach her because only her brother was faithful to accompany her, and vice versa.

And now, when she was facing a problem that she desperately to avoid, she wanted to ask her father for help for the first time. And yet, that older man was unavailable whenever she needed him the most.

Since she didn't like seeing her grades drop so lowly, she decided to go with so many bodyguards following her.

The more bodyguards guarding her, the calmer her raging heart became.

This teenager entered the building, where the assessment was held at a sluggish pace.

She had deliberately stalled for time while hoping that she was late and that her name had been called.

She didn't want to miss the exam, but… she still didn't want to take this particular activity.

The girl's guts shrunk as soon as her feet arrived in front of a glass door. She could see through the transparent glass that her schoolmates were already gathered in their swimming suits. There were at least two teachers with a list of the names of the examinees.

The girl still doubts whether she should keep up with her schoolmates or go home and let this assessment fail this time? She was completely unaware that one of the teachers had noticed her arrival and addressed him.

The glass door suddenly opened, and the figure of a middle-aged woman with thick glasses appeared in front of her.

"Chleora Regnz, what are you doing standing here? You're almost half an hour late."

"Sorry." Chleo bowed slightly in apology.

Having been caught by the examiner's teacher, Chleo had no other choice but stepped towards the swimming pool.

"Hurry and change your clothes. I will call your name after your friends."

Chleo bit her lip nervously. Her bite got so hard that she felt blood running down her tongue.

"Miss Regnz!"

Chleo gasped at the loud voice from her teacher and immediately ran to the changing room to change clothes.

After storing clean clothes in the cupboard, Chleo walked towards the sink with a wide glass above. A pair of brown eyes and dark red hair appeared in the mirror reflection, and her lips had a rather dark red color from the bite wound itself.

Can she do it? Can she swim?

In the past, she loved to soak in the large bath up or swim in the swimming pool at her house. But now, those routine activities were no longer fun for her.

Chleo didn't even want to linger in the bathroom and only wanted to take a shower using the shower.

Chleo came out of the changing room and walked towards the pool area. She hid so that the examiners and schoolmates didn't see her.

She could hear the examiner call her name. But since she hadn't come yet, the same examiner summoned the next examinee.

Chleo didn't understand why her school had a swimming evaluation. Should she change school?

"Hey, what are you doing alone here?"

Chleo turned towards the source of the voice calling her. A handsome boy with brunet hair and beautiful blue eyes appeared right before her.

Usually, Chleo didn't like to see the blue color because it was identical to the color of the water. But strangely, she was fascinated by his blue-stone-like instead.

"Your lips hurt. Are you okay?"

Chleo lowered her head as she realized the young man had observed her reaction.

"Could it be that you're from AA Middle School? Don't you guys have a swimming evaluation today? What a coincidence! We also have a swimming assessment here."

Chleo glanced at the owner of the blue eyes doubtfully. Normally, she wouldn't let a stranger speak to her for more than two words. But why now she let that boy continue to talk to her? Surprisingly, this guy didn't feel offended when Chleo didn't answer his question.

"Hey, Alexis! It'll be your turn soon."

This older boy named Alexis looked at his friend only to respond, "Okay, I'm coming.." then he turned to Chleo with a big smile, making Chleo dumbfounded.
