Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 256 - Ch. 256 Diego's Conclusion

Chleo looked at her phone blankly. Moments ago, her phone vibrated, indicating she had received a message. But once she found out the sender and read the message's contents, Chleo was lost in thoughts.

'Hi Chleo, how are you? I'll be back on the fifteenth. Can you come to pick me up?'

Inevitably, Chleo's memory flashed back to last year when she had a date at Seattle's Great Wheel.

'When I come back, can you pick me up? If you accept my feelings, wear this the day you pick me up when that time comes. Then I will know your answer.'

Does that mean she has to give the answer while wearing a necklace or not when she picks up Alexis at the airport?

If her memory hadn't returned, she was sure he could pick up Alexis with a light heart and return the necklace. She was sure she could refuse the man, but…

Now her memories had recurred; she couldn't help but remember the disappointment and disbelief face when Alexis was about to die. His dying moment haunted and gnawed at her soul.

Could she live with Maximillian carrying this responsibility? Can she live happily choosing Maximillian by hurting Alexis once again and burying her feelings for the young man?

But, if she chose Alexis to make up for her past selfishness and recklessness, what about Maximillian? Did she have the heart to hurt that man for the umpteenth time?

Chleo walked to the dressing table, where she met a dull and swollen eyes girl in there.

Chleo felt she saw herself in the present while she expected her hair to be dark red. She had this strange feeling that her reflection in the mirror had a different expression to her as if it had its own mind.

'Why are you doubting?'

Chleo gasped when she saw her reflection in the mirror moving her lips and talking even though she wasn't speaking.

'You're no longer alive. Don't take my life now. Don't take my bliss.'

"I… I didn't take it."

'Then why did you give him the cold shoulder? Don't you want to feel what it's like to live in this family? Aren't you jealous of me? I've let you enjoy all these happy feelings, so don't break it.'

Chleo stepped back, and she stared in the mirror in horror when she saw that her reflection didn't move at all.

"No… no… NO!!!!!"

Chleo's last sanity snap, and like a crazy person, she slammed the things on her dresser into the mirror, shattering the glass.

Chleo wished her frightening reflection, who looked at her scornfully and hated her, would disappear from her sight.

"Chleo! Chleo, stop it, darling girl. What are you doing?"

Chleo had thrown everything she could find, breaking her dressing mirror without realizing that her parents and brother were there.

Vincent wrapped his daughter tightly while Chleo struggled to be released, screaming in terror as if a criminal was torturing her.

Seeing her daughter's condition like this made Cathy's tears fall while helping her husband calm their daughter.

"Diego, get the doctor here."

After hearing his father's orders, Diego immediately contacted their family's doctor.

After ordering their doctor to come here, Diego directly reached Maximillian again. As soon as the call went through, Diego cut to the chase.

"Max, is there something you are hiding from me?"

"…"

"What happened to my sister in that world? Why is she now such a person with acute trauma and fears like a madman? She could have lost her mind if it keeps going."

"What do you mean? What happened?"

"You think I will tell you without listening to your explanation? Tell me what happened to my sister while he was out there?!"

"Ehem…"

Diego turned around at the sound of a deep and firm cough from behind, and Diego's heart seemed to shatter when he saw his father's dark, menacing expression.

Right now, his father was furious, and he could guess what caused his father's rage.

Vincent stretched out his hand towards Diego, asking for something that Diego instantly understood. Diego was forced to hand over his phone to his father.

"Maximilian. I'm guessing you're one of the infamous rulers of nature. If you still love my daughter, you'd better come here and explain to us what happened to her."

Without waiting for a response from the other end, Vincent disconnected the call and returned it to Diego.

"You knew?"

"If you want to hide something from me, you still have much to learn," Vincent replied flatly, then returned to his daughter's room, where Chleo was still crying in her mother's arms.

Diego facepalmed with a heavy sigh.

Why did things get so complicated like this? What happened to his sister?

Even if Chleo experienced trauma and nightmares, she should have experienced it in the first days of her return. It had been more than two months since the incident, and his sister seemed to be doing well so far.

Not to mention, Chleo was often smiling to herself at home while imagining something fun about her date with Maximillian. Chleo's crazy smile could make Diego and Vincent ticklish in a bad way, but they were pleased to see Chleo so cheerful.

But why did Chleo's happiness change so drastically in just one night?

Diego sat on the comfortable sofa with his ten fingers intertwined. He pressed his finger link to his forehead while thinking seriously.

He tried to piece together everything that had happened over the past few days. Chleo's habit of going, as usual, his sister's date with Maximillian also ended well, making Diego sometimes have the urge to vomit because they never hide their affection in public.

Diego tried to remember the conversation he had with his sister last night before they went to bed, and he didn't find anything suspicious. How about this morning?

How could he find anything wrong if he hadn't even had a chance to talk to his sister when he woke up?

Was there something he missed? There must be a clue that could answer him.

'Max, could it be… my sister's memories have returned?'

Diego was pensive, remembering the question he asked Max.

But now he thinks about it, Max didn't deny it and instead became quiet.

Could it be... is it true?

Diego recalled the gleam in his sister's eyes when she slammed things like a crazy person was almost the same as his red-haired sister's eyes. But this one was twice as bad as the previous one.

'Don't tell me...'

Diego felt a gust of cold wind nearby, interrupting his thought. He glanced at Max, who had arrived at his house without using the front door.

Can't that man enter someone's house in a normal way??
