"But after that leader's reforms, the people in this village became unified in their thinking."

“You see, they tacitly follow these rules. They acknowledge the rules and presuppose their existence, which is not a bad thing to me.”

Upon hearing this analysis, Yan Liang's mocking expression faded.

Yes, the Slash Line Demon has no emotions, and the Slash Line it represents is also an irrational existence.

But Yan Liang still couldn't accept it.

"Their rules violate ethics... Is that also 'reasonable'?"

Yan Liang coldly retorted.

“I’ve already said it, many of the things you care about are meaningless to me.”

"For example, what you call ethics."

The voice of the Demon of Severing Lines rang out again, tinged with a hint of silence:

"Good and evil, beauty and ugliness, right and wrong—these concepts are only meaningful to human beings and human society, and they are changing in different times and places."

"The essence I represent has nothing to do with these concepts and can stand the test of time."

"I only care about three things: whether the rules exist, whether the rules are followed, and whether my rules can bring prosperity to mankind."

"As for whether these rules are good or bad... Yan Liang, that's not something you need to decide, nor is it something I need to decide."

Yan Liang frowned; he sensed a great deal of information in the other person's words.

"Since you say that the good or bad of the rules isn't up to me, and it's not up to you either..." Yan Liang asked in a deep voice in his mind, "Then who is in charge? That so-called cult leader?"

"Do not."

"Listen carefully, this is very important, I will only remind you once—"

The voice of the slashing demon suddenly became solemn and dignified, giving its answer:

"The majority decides."

Yan Liang narrowed his eyes, somewhat unsure of its thoughts, but the Slash Line Demon continued its narration:

“In this village, where the vast majority of people believe that sharing is noble and possessiveness is selfish, then such behavior represents good, and the ethics you uphold are evil.”

"When 99 percent of people decide to presuppose to follow something, it becomes a rule, even if it is not one."

"Therefore, I don't have much malice towards that cult leader. The fact that he can go this far proves that he at least understands the underlying logic of the rules. Everything he does is not just to vent his desires; he has his own reasons."

"The majority decides..." Yan Liang chuckled self-deprecatingly, muttering to himself, "As expected of you. So, the rules you represent are, in themselves, a denial of individual will?"

However, in the face of Yan Liang's sentiments, the voice in his mind gave a crisp denial.

You've got one thing wrong.

That cold voice, unusually, carried a hint of displeasure:

“I represent the rules, but I am not just the rules.”

"The rules are only a part of me, not my whole being."

Yan Liang was taken aback for a moment. But soon he understood. Whether it was called the Slash Line Demon or some other demon, it wouldn't help his current situation.

What he really needed to do was take this opportunity to communicate with the other party and seek information about upgrading his own abilities.

It seems that his current strength is still insufficient, at least in terms of defense, which must be strengthened as more enemies appear.

"It doesn't matter." Yan Liang reached out and pinched the bridge of his nose, pretending to be annoyed and saying perfunctorily, "No matter what your name is, I understand what you just said. This place suits your aesthetic, so you can't even muster the desire to kill, is that what you mean?"

Faced with Yan Liang's perfunctory attitude, the being in her mind did not get angry.

Instead, it seemed to develop a strange interest in Yan Liang's indifferent attitude.

"Since you think it doesn't matter..."

It suddenly changed the subject:

"Let's play a game."

"What?" Yan Liang was stunned. The slash demon who never paid any attention to him suddenly wanted to play games with him?

"A one-off exception."

The voice of the slashing demon echoed deep within Yan Liang's mind:

"Based on what I just told you, and the logic I explained... guess my real name."

"If you can guess..."

"I will give you a reward..."

Testimonials

Let me get to the important points first.

Unable to be included in the Three Rivers Project, it was humiliatingly put on the shelves.

It's available today; we'll see how it goes with future updates.

Then let's talk about the planning of this book.

This is a single-world fanfic, not a crossover anime/manga adaptation.

Based on my current plan, I'll probably finish writing around 300 chapters, a little after the second part of the original novel.

Just a quick aside.

The second part of Chainsaw Massacre, especially the part towards the end, was not very easy for me to understand; it felt like a complete mess of arguments.

After all, Fujimoto doesn't need logic when drawing manga, but I still need to use logic when writing novels.

Don't worry about the ending. It won't be a bad ending, it won't be abandoned, and I will definitely finish it diligently.

There was no lofty idea behind the book.

There are mainly a few things: to make up for the regrets of the original work (especially Reise), to have a romance with Reise (the official pairing of Teacher Da Dian is War), and to show off whenever I feel like it.

Then, I'd like to say something unrelated—

Why is it that, despite the fact that the topic of chainsaw man is not uncommon, not many people write about it?

As the author, I can tell you the answer.

First, the original work is too short to support the length of a novel.

Attentive readers will notice that almost all events occurred within one or two days.

The same applies to the Sword Demon arc, the Hunters of Various Countries arc, and the Machima Final Battle arc.

There's really not much room to add more plot at this density.

Secondly, there are too few memorable villains who can put enough pressure on the protagonist.

If I had to say, I personally think there's only one: Machima. The later Apocalypse Four Sisters were just pure clowns.

A comparison makes it clear. (The rest of the text appears to be a list of characters and phrases related to Naruto, possibly from different sources. A direct translation wouldn't be meaningful without further context.)

I'm not very familiar with these two topics, but I can name them just by thinking about them, which speaks volumes.

Due to these two constraints, the upper limit of the Chainsaw Man theme as fan fiction is basically fixed. Without original content, there isn't enough space to fill it; adding too much original content isn't necessarily a good thing either, creating a kind of aesthetic conflict between the left and right brains.

My approach is to strike a balance, interspersing original content while following the main storyline, without being entirely original or deviating from the original work. I'll add as much of what you'd like to see in the original parts as possible, such as having a Death Return event in Tokyo later on (if you're interested).

Regarding updates, due to limitations of energy and length, I don't plan to write too much at once.

If I write too much, there won't be anything left to write about.

That's all I have to say about this book.

Also, a reminder to readers on the platform: if you have the chance, remember to check out the illustrations on the app. I put a lot of effort into those images; they're an important supplement to the main text, so don't miss them.

Now that we've covered the important stuff, let me share some personal thoughts.

Many readers have asked me if I am a veteran author.

Clear answer: Yes and no.

Yes, that's because I did write novels, but it was just that four or five years ago when I had nothing to do, I wrote two or three books on other platforms, and they all flopped.

I say no because I am confident in what I have written.

I know exactly what I've written well and what needs improvement.

If I were to give myself an evaluation, I would say I'm not the best, but not the worst either; I'm far from achieving my desired goals.

After all, my energy is indeed limited. I have a regular job, and writing novels is just a part-time job.

But since I've already done this, I don't intend to be perfunctory.

You can tell from those illustrations that I really put a lot of effort into them.

I did my best.

Of course, doing your best doesn't guarantee success; there's no such thing as a free lunch.

This book was initially on the bestseller list, but unfortunately it lost momentum and was pulled off the charts.

Recent data isn't ideal either, so I'm out of luck with the Three Rivers project.

But I'm already very satisfied with this.

You know, many authors who work harder than me have difficulty even getting a contract.

As a newcomer to Qidian, it's already quite an achievement for me to have made it all the way to the fourth round on this popular light novel channel.

To be honest, the spiritual rewards you've given me since I started writing this book far outweigh the material rewards.

Many times I get off work at nine o'clock and lie in bed not wanting to move at all. Until I pick up my phone and see your comments.

Those few words, though short, were enough to motivate me to get up and start writing and editing.

Especially some of the jokes or hidden references that I personally find interesting, if you can appreciate them and resonate with them, as the author, I really can't help but hum them softly in bed.

whee.

……

All right.

As is customary when listing items at the beginning, there should be a reward or a request for monthly passes.

But given my current situation, I'm not qualified to make demands of you.

I'm only asking for a first subscription here. Thank you to all the readers who can support me.

Writing novels is my second job, and since it's a job, I definitely want to make some money from it.

Making money is nothing to be ashamed of.

With your support, I have the motivation to keep writing.

Thank you to every reader who subscribes to my book and supports me.

Finally, I've included the chat group requests from some readers in the author's notes section of the first-order chapter.

In the group, there are many pictures I made, as well as some original illustrations (some are not original illustrations due to censorship reasons). After all, I put a lot of effort into them, and it feels a bit wasteful if no one looks at them.

So be it.

Thank you for your support. I will work even harder from now on.

Arigato.

Chapter 87 Your Name

A sense of vigilance rose from the bottom of Yan Liang's heart, and then his heart began to beat faster and faster uncontrollably.

The ruthless assassin who had always ignored him suddenly suggested playing a "guess the name" game and promised a "reward"...

What does its reward mean?

It must be some kind of completely new ability.
