Stins stopped talking nonsense and turned to leave the alley.

Vito then went to Old Vito's place.

"How is it, Lao Wei? Is the girl alright?"

Old Wei has already done repairs on the girl, and she looks much better.

"There's nothing wrong with her physically, but it's hard to say about her mental state. The girl is terrified. Now, she can't stop crying at the slightest noise, and we can only suppress it by inhaling sedatives."

Old Wei sighed. He had also heard about the poor girl's plight; she had only survived thanks to the help of Sto and Jack.

Misty tried to help the girl emotionally, but the situation remained bad.

Jack and Misty took the girl home. She lived alone in an old apartment in the North District, but her home was very clean.

The girl had a good relationship with her neighbor, who was also very kind. The neighbor originally thought the girl had left Night City, but he never expected that she had encountered such a terrible thing.

Misty and Jack left only after the neighbors agreed to look after the girl for the next few days.

A month later, the neighbor called the NCPD to collect the girl's body.

After the girl felt a little better, she tried to find a job, but because she was mentally confused, she spilled coffee on a company employee's suit on her first day. She was fired on the spot and threatened with being sued.

Without a job, the girl had no money to support herself. In the end, the message that the rent was overdue completely destroyed her will, and she ended her life with a knife.

Her soul had long since died from the blows of despair, and that knife was merely the final period to this empty shell.

Night City is devouring her flesh and blood; perhaps she died long ago when she was captured to film the movie "Black Dream."

Chapter 28 This Is The New Shit

The night in North Oak District is like a tattered rag soaked in engine oil, heavily covering the mouth and nose of the city of night. This is the edge of the industrial zone, where abandoned warehouses are piled up.

"Target confirmed. The target went in with three police officers, and the Tiger Claw gang greeted them inside. The surveillance footage shows there were seventeen people inside. Apart from Duterte's gang, the rest were all fanatics from the Tiger Claw gang."

Qiwei's voice rang out in the shared channel.

"Seventeen?" Jack adjusted his facial camouflage. "What could these Japanese lunatics have in this secret hideout that would warrant them sending so many old men to guard it?"

Vito sent a message to Stins, saying he would begin his operation in five minutes.

"Are you ready, Mano?"

"Let's get started."

Two dark figures, like ghosts, reached the side of the warehouse and raised their hands, lightly touching the camouflage device on the face. The previously unremarkable bio-plastic instantly reassembled, revealing a pale, distorted mask with blood streaming from the corners of its eyes, a crying face mask in the night.

Jack also activated his disguise at the same time. The same crying face looked particularly ferocious in the dim light, and the two of them looked like two cyber lunatics.

"Three, two, one, open the door."

Vito kicked open the iron door, the old-fashioned lock making a screeching sound that startled the people inside.

"who?!"

The Tiger Claw Gang sentry at the door was leaning against the wall smoking when he was startled by the sudden loud noise. He instinctively reached for his waist—where a modified monomolecular samurai sword hung.

But he was too slow.

Vito's Shigure submachine gun spat fire. The muzzle, fitted with a suppressor, didn't produce a deafening explosion, but rather a muffled "puff puff" sound, like the whisper of death.

Three bullets, arranged in a triangular pattern, precisely pierced the sentry's throat and carotid artery. The sentry collapsed, clutching his neck, his eyes wide open, not even having had time to pull his knife an inch out.

"Intrusion! Rats!"

A roar came from deep within the warehouse, followed by a series of teeth-grinding metallic scraping sounds. It was the sound of blades being drawn, so dense it sent chills down your spine.

"For the tiger's claws!"

"Kill them all!"

A dozen or so thugs, clad in bulletproof vests and with implanted reinforced tendons, burst from the shadows of the shipping container. These Tiger Claw gang members were a group of retro lunatics who scoffed at firearms, brandishing heat-powered longswords, powered warhammers, and spinning chainsaws.

"What a bunch of nostalgic old fogies." Jack sneered, and his Reason in his hand fired directly, the crying face mask looking even more mocking in the gunfire.

"Take cover while reloading, don't let them get close!"

Vito's voice was disguised, sounding like a broken old stereo making strange noises.

"The camera has been taken over and is marking weaknesses... Watch out, the guy on the left with the chainsaw has implanted Sianwistan!" Qiwei's voice was urgent yet calm.

"Whether it's S.A.S ...

Jack suddenly emerged from behind cover, his double-barreled shotgun spitting out a dazzling flash of fire.

Boom!

A tremendous roar echoed through the empty warehouse, causing dust to fall from the roof.

The two Tiger Claw Gang members on the far left were blasted away, knife and all. The large-caliber tungsten bullet turned their chests into mangled flesh, and blood and fragments of internal organs splattered on the container behind them, creating an abstract painting.

Jack didn't pause for a moment; he fired while moving, drawing his golden, fierce-looking guns from beneath the crying mask, the two pistols spitting fire. His marksmanship was wild and precise; each bullet seemed to have eyes, piercing the eye sockets or knees of enemies trying to flank him.

"Ah! My leg!"

"Damn mercenaries! Use guns! Don't fight them with knives!"

The Tiger Claw gang's squad clearly hadn't expected to encounter such overwhelming firepower. Their proud Bushido spirit appeared pale and powerless in the face of absolute firepower.

Vito is a ruthless war machine. He uses the real-time data stream transmitted by Kivi through the camera to highlight the enemy's weaknesses in his field of vision with red boxes.

bang bang bang-

The extended magazine of Shigure's submachine gun gave him the ability to continuously spray bullets. He didn't need to aim; he only needed to point the muzzle in the general direction of the enemy, and the bullets would precisely cut off the threat like a scalpel.

A Tiger Claw gang member tried to use Sianwistan to speed up and rush over, but he had already been targeted by Vito and Gigi. Gigi hacked his prosthetic body, slowing down his movements.

Vito slightly turned his body to avoid a sweeping thermal blade, then pressed the muzzle of his gun directly against the other person's chin.

"Good night."

"boom!"

The man's head exploded like a watermelon.

"There's a gunman on the second-floor platform! He's aiming at you!" Qiwei warned.

Vito didn't even raise his head. He held the euro in his hand at his waist, and without even looking, fired two shots directly at the shadowy figure on the second floor.

With a muffled groan, the Tiger Claw Gang gunman who had attempted a sneak attack clutched his chest and collapsed, crashing heavily onto the concrete ground.

"Well done, Mano!" Jack laughed as he reloaded, his excitement growing stronger. "This is just like being at a shooting range!"

The battle turned into a one-sided massacre.

The warehouse was filled with gunshots, screams, and the sounds of flesh being torn apart. Although the Tiger Claw Gang's warriors were fierce, their swords and knives were riddled with bullets before they could even touch the hem of their clothes under the fierce attack of the medical dispute mediation team, which was armed with top-of-the-line modified firearms.

In just five minutes, the warehouse fell silent, leaving only corpses, gunpowder smoke, and a strong smell of blood. All the Tiger Claw gang members and the three corrupt police officers perished.

Sergeant Dutt huddled behind a container in the corner of the warehouse, shivering, his crotch soaked. His three men were already dead, but because he was hiding at the back, and thanks to Vito and Jack's deliberate actions, Dutt escaped a single bullet.

Heavy footsteps sounded.

Every step felt like stepping on Duterte's heartbeat.

Dutt looked up in horror and saw two demons wearing "crying face" masks walking towards him. They were covered in other people's blood, and the guns in their hands were still smoking.

“No…don’t kill me…I’m a police officer…NCPD…” Dutter cried, raising his hands, tears and snot streaming down his face, “I have money, I can give you money…”

Vito walked up to him and pressed the muzzle of the gun against his forehead. Dutt could even smell the lingering gunpowder on the barrel—the smell of death.

"Police?" Vito's voice, processed by a voice changer, now sounded like fingernails scratching glass. "Protection and service, who should that be given to?"

Chapter 29 hole in the sun

Jack was loading a shotgun with a click, the metallic clang of metal ringing out sharply in the deathly silence of the warehouse. It nearly made Dutter faint.

“Kill him. Keeping trash around is just a waste of air,” Jack said coldly, the muzzle of his gun seemingly sweeping across Dutt’s head. “Night City doesn’t need scum like this.”

Vito's finger was on the trigger, and Dutt closed his eyes in despair, his mind blank.

"boom!"

A gunshot rang out.

Dutt screamed, but found he wasn't dead. The bullet had pierced his thigh, and the excruciating pain nearly made him faint. He clutched his leg, rolled on the ground, and screamed like a pig being slaughtered.

"The police are on their way to the factory; you need to evacuate," Qiwei warned.

"NCPD! Stop the crime! Stop the crime!"

Sirens wailed outside the warehouse. It wasn't the urgent sirens of a terrorist airstrike team, but rather the regular sirens of NCPD patrol cars. It sounded both ironic and absurd, as these officers rarely paid attention to shootouts in factories.

Two police cars pulled up in front of the warehouse, and Sheriff Stins rushed in with several fully armed men.

"Don't move! Hands up!" Stings shouted, pointing his gun at the two masked figures. Vito casually threw out a jamming grenade and then he and Jack left the factory.

Sheriff Stings feigned extreme surprise as he looked at the scene before him.

The ground was littered with the corpses of the Tiger Claw Gang, lying haphazardly, a gruesome sight. There was also a colleague, Dutt, whose leg had been broken and who was on the verge of death.

"Oh, my God!"

Stins put away his gun, ran to Dutt's side, and looked "heartbroken".

"Dute! Are you alright? Those damned Tiger Claw gang... how dare they attack a police officer! These lunatics!"

Dutt looked at Stins, his eyes filled with pleading, but even more so with despair. He knew he was finished.

Although Stings's face showed anxiety, a hint of barely perceptible pleasure was hidden deep in his eyes.

Stings turned his head to look in the direction where the two figures wearing crying masks had disappeared, a slight smile playing on his lips. He then immediately adopted a serious expression and shouted into the walkie-talkie.

"Calling headquarters, a large-scale gang shootout has occurred in North Oaks. All Tiger Claw gang members have been apprehended. Sergeant Duterte has been heroically wounded. Requesting medical support! Repeat, requesting medical support!"

Stins then ordered his men to search the factory, and they quickly found several people who had been traded.

……

"That was a great job."

Jack toyed with reason in Delaman's car, the night wind dispelling the smell of gunpowder on him.

"This mask is so creepy, it looks like a cyber madman. I think those thugs were scared out of their wits."

"Fear is the best weapon."

Vito looked out the window at the neon lights flashing by, checking the euros in his hand.

"Besides, Stings will say we're cyber lunatics killing indiscriminately, and he'll like that ending."

"The perpetrators were apprehended, competitors were eliminated, and the NCPD underwent an internal purge. This is far more ruthless than simply killing Duterte."

Jack whistled.

After dealing with the situation, Stins quickly transferred the remaining payment to Vito's account.

The sheriff's involvement in human trafficking is a major scandal for the newly privatized NCPD.

Many officers knew about it, but they all turned a blind eye. A few officers with a sense of justice were suffering mentally, unable to tolerate a former law enforcement agency now openly committing crimes.

Just when everyone thought Duterte was finished, something unexpected happened.

Inspired by Duterte, the new NCPD director Jerry Ford directly partnered with private prisons, allowing the NCPD to arrest people and throw them into these private prisons, making money for the NCPD from each prisoner.

Instead of being demoted, Dutt was promoted to police inspector by Jerry Ford, and Stings's wishful thinking failed.

Dutt wasn't stupid; he knew the NCPD officers' behavior best. Two cars full of people dared to storm into a gang's factory without knowing the situation? What a joke!

Moreover, Stins and I usually don't get along, and he always speaks with a forced smile. Why was he so enthusiastic that day?

Duterte outwardly expressed his gratitude to Stins for saving his life, but privately he sent people to investigate Stins and even secretly bribed the officers who had been on duty with him during those days, intending to ask them about the situation at the time.

Having spent a lot of money but achieved nothing, Stings saw that Dutt was bribing his men and knew that the old man suspected him.

Stings underestimated Jerry Ford's obsession with making money. In the eyes of this new director, forget about protection and services; generating revenue was the top priority.
