[Nightmare, Again]

I had another dream.

In the dream, I was looking at Barrett from a third person’s pov, just like last time. Hence why I thought of this dream as a continuation of the original novel.

The location was some ruins.

There were two people there.

One was the original Barrett, and the other was–Madeline.

“Haa, haa, haa…”

Madeline had a terribly panicked look on her face.

Her breathing was rough and she was injured, upon a closer look.

Barrett, on the other hand, was staring at the Holy Sword in his hand… but something seemed off with the Holy Sword.

…Oh.

Its color was different from mine.

Unlike my Holy Sword, the one Barrett had was black. It seemed less like a Holy Sword and more like a ‘Demon Sword’ like Raul’s.

Barrett was holding such a sword and Madeline was wounded.

From their conditions, I could kind of guess what had happened here.

Barrett had attacked Madeline and cornered her.

Frightened, Madeline begged him to spare her.

Barrett looked down at Madeline with cold eyes.

Even though I knew it was no use, I couldn’t help but scream for him to stop.

–But of course, there was no way my scream would reach him.

Even so, I continued to scream, betting on a sliver of hope that the situation would improve.

“Stooop!”

The moment I thought my voice finally came out, I woke up.

A sense of relief gushed through my body even while I was breathing heavily. Thank God it was just a dream. However, why did things develop that way in the original novel?

Raul was the protagonist of [The Rise of the Weakest Sacred Swordsman].

The original Barrett, on the other hand, was nothing but a ‘stepping stone’ to make Raul become closer to the heroines.

Nevertheless, the scene from the dream—it made it seem as though Barrett had turned into a demon who had come back from the dead to take vengeance against the protagonist.

Did the author really give him such character development in the original novel?

Would the readers agree with it?

The original novel was supposed to have been a hit whose main charm lay in Raul’s rise in life after having always been oppressed.

While analyzing the contents of the dream, I heard footsteps running over from outside the room.

Ahh… they heard my voice earlier.

“““Young Master?!”””

As I predicted, Marina, Priim, and Rebecca entered the room with worried looks on their faces.

“What happened?!”

“Are you okay-nya!?”

“I will immediately dispose of the intruder!”

“C-calm down.”

They were all distraught… especially Rebecca, who said something disturbing at the end.

“Don’t worry, I just had a strange dream.”

“A strange dream… A dream made you scream that way?”

“Yeah—I dreamed Tayte dumped me.”

“““That is never going to happen, so please rest assured(-nya).”””

The three said in perfect sync.

They truly were close.

“There is no way that Lady Tayte would ever dislike Young Master.”

“Agreed.”

“Nya!”

Hearing Rebecca and Marina’s words, Priim nodded.

――Certainly, that seemed to be the case now.

However, in the original novel, Tayte eventually had enough of Barrett and left him after putting up with him for so long. That was… what was supposed to happen originally.

“Anyway, Young Master! You have to prepare for today’s ball!”

“Oh, right.”

With Marina’s reminder, I finally remembered that today was the day of the long-awaited ball.

I’d best focus on the matters at hand for now.

As for the dream, I’d think about it after the ball was over.
