Hogwarts: Don't call me the Staff Maker

Chapter 770 Professor McGonagall's Angry

Chapter 770 Professor McGonagall's Angry

Since the founding of Hogwarts more than a thousand years ago, students have been allowed to bring four different pets upon enrollment.

An owl, a cat, or a mouse and a toad.

Of course, if someone prefers pets that aren't on the list, like rabbits or turtles, but aren't aggressive, the professors will turn a blind eye and pretend they didn't see anything.

This regulation has never changed in over a thousand years.

However, Alector Caro so hastily stipulated that students were not allowed to bring pet cats, and judging from her tone, there was absolutely no room for discussion; it seemed that she had already made up her mind.

Professor McGonagall frowned slightly, but after a moment's hesitation, she slowly nodded.

"I will emphasize this at the opening ceremony."

Alecto Caro seemed somewhat disappointed by Professor McGonagall's reaction.

She turned abruptly, deliberately walked in front of Filch, and then swung her wand forcefully.

Filch flew high into the air like a ball that had been hit, then crashed to the ground with a thud.

"Get out of my way, you filthy thing!" said Alecto Caro, then went back down the stairs to the underground classroom.

She came up from here just now.

After she left, Filch struggled to his feet.

During this process, neither Professor McGonagall nor Professor Flitwick stepped forward to help. They simply stood by and watched him get up and walk away with a limp.

Only after Filch had completely disappeared around the corner of the corridor did the remaining two professors exchange a glance.

"Don't worry, I just cast a confusion spell on Filch," Professor Flitwick whispered.

Professor McGonagall nodded, and then the two of them pretended to be nonchalant and walked off in different directions.

Professor Flitwick closed the oak door of the castle, and Professor McGonagall walked up the stairs, unhurriedly through the corridor as usual, back to her office.

After closing the door, she immediately drew her wand and waved it gently.

"The door is locked!"

With a click, the door seemed to be embedded into the wall, leaving no gap whatsoever. Then the curtains were drawn, completely blocking out the windows.

After doing all this, Professor McGonagall lowered her voice and said to the empty office, "That's enough, come out now."

As soon as he finished speaking, a black cat jumped down from the cabinet and transformed back into Xilun in mid-air.

"Professor, who was that person just now—"

"Alector Caro," Professor McGonagall said, "a notorious Death Eater, but now, she is the Head of Education at the Ministry of Magic, responsible for the administration of Hogwarts."

"The Department of Education, Ministry of Magic?" Siren blinked. "I don't recall the Ministry of Magic having such a department."

The Ministry of Magic does have a department that oversees wizarding education, but it is an office under the Wizarding Examinations Authority and is far from meeting the standards of a division.

"This department was just established this morning," Professor McGonagall said calmly. "Once the Ministry of Magic opens for business, you should see the news in the latest Daily Prophet."

Okay, now Xilun understands.

This is a new department created by the Death Eaters specifically to target Hogwarts.

However, since they now occupy the Ministry of Magic, this behavior is entirely justified.

Siron looked up at Professor McGonagall and found her surprisingly calm, showing no anger at the Death Eaters' attempt to interfere in Hogwarts.

"Anger solves nothing and only cloudes your judgment," Professor McGonagall said. "But what I'm more curious about is why you're here."

"The Thestrals brought me here," Siron said. "Much faster than a train."

"I'm not asking how you got here," Professor McGonagall said sternly. "I assume you already know about the collapse of the Ministry of Magic."

"Know."

Silen nodded. "Five hours ago, Mad-Eye Moody and other members of the Order of the Phoenix discussed this matter at the Burrow for a long time."

"If that's the case, why did you come back?" Professor McGonagall pursed her lips tightly.

"Don't you know that the mysterious man has been searching for you and Potter—oh—"

She seemed to have thought of something, and suddenly let out a strange cry, looking at Xilun nervously.

"Wait, is Potter here too?!"

"Ah, he didn't," Siron said.

Professor McGonagall was relieved, but before she could even catch her breath, Sheryl continued, "Harry has decided to give up his studies to search for the last Horcrux of the Void. He has already set off for Cornwall with Ron and Hermione—that's their first stop."

Professor McGonagall nearly jumped up.

Of course she knew about Horcruxes, and she knew that Voldemort had created them.

She simply believed instinctively that finding and destroying Horcruxes was the Order of the Phoenix's mission, not for Harry Potter to take the risk.

"Alastor Moody, didn't he stop it?"

"I guess he did have that thought," Siren shrugged. "But Harry said only he could find the last Horcrux, so Moody agreed."

"Nonsense!" Professor McGonagall jumped to her feet.

But now that Harry has already left, she can only stay at Hogwarts and can't do anything.

"And what about you?" Professor McGonagall took a deep breath and looked at Siron again.

"Why did you go back to Hogwarts? Don't you know you're walking into a trap?" Her tone grew increasingly harsh. "It's no exaggeration to say that a large part of Alecto Caro's arrival was to find you."

"Once she discovers that Siren Ollivander is at school, the mysterious man will probably be here very soon!"

"I know, that's what Mrs. Weasley said too." Siron took out the shapeshifting lizard skin bag and pulled out a handful of wands from it.

"If I hadn't come, the new students probably wouldn't have had any wands to use this year."

Professor McGonagall looked rather grim.

As agreed, she was supposed to retrieve the wands from the Burrow before the start of the school term. However, on the day she was preparing to leave, Alecto Caro happened to arrive.

Although she didn't do anything to the professor, she didn't allow him to leave Hogwarts without permission. To avoid angering Voldemort, Professor McGonagall and the others had no choice but to comply.

"I'll think of another way," Professor McGonagall said. "You'd better go back as soon as possible, wherever you may go, even if it's to go with Potter to find the Horcruxes, but don't come back to Hogwarts."

"But I already turned down Harry's invitation," Siron said. "I came back to do seventh year!"

"Seventh grade?" Professor McGonagall looked at Siron incredulously, her voice rising considerably.

"Are you planning to use your Hogwarts diploma to defeat Mystic?"

“A diploma won’t do, but I can,” Celen shrugged. “For example, I can find an opportunity to reunite Alexios with her brother.”
