Hogwarts: Don't call me the Staff Maker
Chapter 779 The Useless Malfoy
Chapter 779 The Useless Malfoy
The Hogwarts dungeons are located at the deepest part of the castle, even below the Slytherin common room. They are a huge, empty room surrounded by cold, bluish-gray stone walls.
If there were a windowsill, Xilun thought he could see the view from the bottom of the Black Lake, and maybe even the mermaid tribe he encountered during the Triwizard Tournament.
Unfortunately, there isn't a single window here.
Siren waved his wand, lighting the candlesticks on the wall, and the dim light immediately dispelled the surrounding darkness.
"Knox————"
Xilun extinguished the illumination spell, turned around and said, "Hurry up and come in. We only have one night, don't dawdle!"
Then, the sound of something being dragged came from the dungeon entrance. Malfoy, panting, walked into the firelight and dragged the petrified Alecto Caro in as well.
"Sometimes I really wonder if you're even a wizard, Malfoy," Cyren frowned. "Couldn't you just conjure up a stretcher to carry her?"
"Oh, I forgot," Malfoy said casually, but anyone could hear the perfunctoriness in his tone.
Malfoy certainly didn't really forget; he did it on purpose.
In fact, a month earlier, Alector Caro had dragged him from the gate of his own estate all the way to the foyer in the same way.
The reason was that her brother Amycus Caro was killed by the Order of the Phoenix, but Malfoy was unharmed, and she was unhappy about it.
It was a ridiculous reason, but none of the people present stopped it.
Moreover, he had reason to believe that if the Malfoy family hadn't been able to contribute a large amount of Galleons, he might have faced more than just being dragged around.
Now that he finally has a chance to get revenge, how could he possibly let Alector Caro lie comfortably on a stretcher and be pushed around by magic?
However, Siron didn't bother with Malfoy's little schemes. He walked to the edge of the dungeon and found a thick, long iron chain.
Filch was right; he did come regularly to maintain the chains, and there wasn't a trace of rust on them.
"I'll do it!"
Malfoy volunteered to step forward and chain Alecto Caro.
Xilun then took out a small bottle of resurrection potion made from mandrake juice, which was the only way to undo the basilisk's petrification, and he always carried it with him.
"What else can I do?" Malfoy asked.
"I'll drip this on her in a bit," Siren said, uncorking the potion. "Once she's freed from petrification, you'll cast the Imperius Curse on her."
"What?"
"I ordered you to use the Imperius Curse on Alecto Caro," Siren repeated. "Is there a problem?"
"There's a problem. I don't know the Imperius Curse."
Malfoy's words startled Celen, who turned to look at him in confusion.
"Aren't you a Death Eater?"
"yes!"
"Shouldn't the Unforgivable Curse be standard equipment for Death Eaters?"
"Yes, but I'm not," Malfoy quickly explained. "The Dark Lord allowed me to join the Death Eaters only to use my student status to attack Dumbledore and you. No one has ever taught me any magic."
"Didn't your father teach you that either?"
"He's too busy. The Dark Lord keeps assigning him those dirty, tiring, and tedious tasks."
Xilun sighed.
This is troublesome. He also wanted to use the Imperius Curse to control Alecto Caro and then sabotage the other Death Eaters at a crucial moment.
I never expected Malfoy to be so useless. Despite being a Death Eater, he doesn't even know the Imperius Curse.
"Useless. No wonder Harry doesn't like playing with you," Siron said irritably.
Malfoy's face flushed red, and he stammered as if trying to say something, but Siren didn't hear a word he said.
He simply ignored Malfoy and looked at Alecto Caro again.
Although she can't use the Soul-Stealing Curse, she has other uses.
As one of the Death Eaters' elite, Alecto Caro might know some secrets that Malfoy didn't—such as Voldemort's plans or Nagini's hiding place.
But how should I ask?
Needless to say, Alecto Caro will not cooperate; she is now solely focused on killing Siron to avenge her brother. Furthermore, this obsession has driven her to madness, rendering conventional methods largely ineffective.
Then we'll have to resort to some unconventional methods.
Capturing the mind and seizing thoughts?
That probably won't work either.
Siren shook his head slightly. He did know Legilimency, but it was useless. An elite Death Eater like Alecto Caro, who had been imprisoned in Azkaban for over a decade without going completely insane, must be proficient in Occlumency.
Although this magic cannot resist soul drain, it can reduce the damage caused by having one's pleasure drained to some extent, preventing immediate collapse.
Therefore, ordinary legicination is useless to them, while the advanced legicination of Siron is beyond their reach.
Siren paused for a moment, regretting that he should have learned this from Dumbledore; Legilimency could be really useful in certain situations.
Fortunately, there is another method that can achieve a similar effect.
"Malfoy".
Siren's sudden words startled Malfoy.
"I need you to go to Snape's office and get me a bottle of truth serum."
"That's impossible!" Malfoy's face paled, and he blurted out, "No one can break into the headmaster's office without permission. It's impossible."
Headmaster's Office — It was only then that Siron realized that Snape was now the Headmaster of Hogwarts, and his office was the Headmaster's Office.
“No, I mean, go to the underground classroom, Snape’s private storage room,” Cyren said, shaking his head. “If I’m not mistaken, there should be Veritaserum there.”
"No, no, I can't do it." Malfoy shook his head repeatedly. "Professor Snape is the headmaster now. If he's found out—"
"That's why I sent you, Malfoy," Cyren interrupted him calmly. "I bet you haven't forgotten the unbreakable vow Snape made with your mother."
"How, how did you know—" Malfoy instinctively took two steps back.
During the year-end holiday, his mother did make an unbreakable vow with Snape, but only their family and Snape knew about it. Even Voldemort was kept in the dark, so how could Siron know?
Malfoy looked at Celen with growing confusion, but Celen clearly wasn't going to explain it to him.
"So don't worry, even if you get caught red-handed, Snape won't make things difficult for you."
A flicker of hesitation crossed Malfoy's face.
That being said, Snape's position among the Death Eaters was far higher than Alecto Carlo's, and he was deeply trusted by Voldemort.
If Snape knew that he had chosen to betray Voldemort, it's hard to say whether he would still keep that unbreakable vow.
