Hogwarts: Don't call me the Staff Maker
Chapter 782 Help
Chapter 782 Help
Professor McGonagall hadn't even had time to change out of her pajamas before rushing off to consult with the other two headmasters. The very existence of Hogwarts was at stake; she had to eliminate this threat as quickly as possible.
If Alecto Caro knew where the hundred Death Eaters were hiding, that would be fine, but if he didn't, they would need to find them without alerting Headmaster Snape.
This means they have to be careful around every portrait in the castle, which is no easy task.
After Professor McGonagall left, Celen transformed back into a cat and went out into the hallway.
Before Alecto Carlo leaves the dungeon, things can be a little easier; he no longer needs to be extra careful.
Celeste and Malfoy had completely different opinions on how to deal with the Death Eater.
Malfoy thought they should lock up Alecto Caro and have someone impersonate her using Polyjuice Potion to send false messages to Snape and Voldemort.
It sounded very appealing, but Xilun hesitated for less than a second before shaking his head and refusing.
Snape and Voldemort weren't fools; they were more cautious than anyone else. Unless someone could perfectly replicate Alecto Caro's personality and habits, simply having the same face was useless and would eventually give them away.
Of course, Sirius didn't intend to kill Alecto Caro directly. He needed to make Voldemort believe that Hogwarts was normal, thus buying time for Professor McGonagall and the others.
So he planned to cast a forgetting spell on Alecto Caroch, so that the other would forget everything he had seen after leaving the Slytherin common room.
However, doing so might displease Malfoy, since Alecto Caro came out of the common room intending to cause him trouble.
But it's okay, I'm sure Malfoy will consider the bigger picture, I have that confidence.
Upon arriving at the entrance hall, Celen saw Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick, both dressed in pajamas, hurrying towards the dungeon.
Upon seeing the familiar black cat, Professor McGonagall immediately stopped, made a gesture while fixing her hair, and then continued downstairs with Professor Flitwick.
"Felius, why can't you just choose a practice field outside? It would save you a lot of trouble."
"That's what I thought at first too." Professor Flitwick rubbed his eyes and sighed. "But Alecto disagreed. She believed that practicing spells didn't require a fancy practice space; any spot in the underground classroom would suffice."
"This—" Professor McGonagall muttered a few words under her breath, and the two of them went down the stairs.
A few seconds later, Celen followed and found Professor McGonagall waiting for him on the stairs between the dungeon and the underground classroom.
"I'm glad you understood what I meant, Siron." Professor McGonagall glanced warily behind the stairs.
"Don't worry, Professor, no one is following me." Xiren returned to his original form.
"It's better to be cautious." Professor McGonagall waved her wand. Siron glanced back, but nothing seemed to have changed.
"Where's Professor Flitwick?" Siren asked, turning around.
"Felius has gone to the dungeon," Professor McGonagall said. "We must first confirm one thing."
As they were talking, a short figure came running up from the direction of the dungeon.
"This is troublesome, Minerva. Carol doesn't know where those Death Eaters are hiding," Professor Flitwick said, frowning. "She said it's a secret known only to the Mystics."
"We knew it all along, didn't we?" Professor McGonagall said calmly, then looked at Siron again.
"To make a long story short, it's too difficult for us to find those Death Eaters on our own; we need help."
"Is my helper?" Xilun pointed to himself.
"No, or rather, you're just one of them." Professor McGonagall shook her head. "It's the shopkeepers of Hogsmeade, who are also the most familiar with the area around Hogwarts."
"I was supposed to handle this myself, but I'm afraid I won't be able to leave Hogwarts for the time being, as will Philius and Pomona, otherwise it might arouse Snape's suspicion."
Professor McGonagall ultimately couldn't fully trust Snape; he really did resemble a Death Eater too much.
"I hope you can go to Hogsmeade in my place," Professor McGonagall continued. "Of course, I know it's dangerous, and there are Death Eaters in Hogsmeade as well. If you have concerns, we can think of other ways."
After she finished speaking, she took out a small bottle from her pocket, which contained a grayish-brown magic potion.
"A compound decoction?" Xilun raised an eyebrow.
“That’s right.” Professor McGonagall nodded. “We can find a suitable opportunity for you to impersonate me and keep Snape occupied at Hogwarts, while I take the opportunity to go to Hogsmeade Village.”
"But this method is unreliable," Professor Flitwick continued. "It is said that Snape had already placed revealing potions in every corner of the castle to prevent you and Harry from infiltrating the school through shapeshifting. These potions would instantly neutralize Polyjuice Potion."
Did Snape plant a revelation potion in the castle?
Xilun raised an eyebrow, somewhat skeptical of the rumor's veracity.
Snape was Dumbledore's man, how could he possibly be so dedicated to helping Voldemort capture him and Harry?
Hmm—but thinking about it carefully, catching him is indeed a possibility.
After all, Harry was still searching the world for Nagini at that time, so it was impossible for him to come to Hogwarts. Therefore, the only one who could come to Hogwarts was himself.
So here's the question: if Harry isn't involved, would Snape still be considered a good person?
"It's alright, then I'll go to Hogsmeade." Siren made the decision immediately.
"But those Death Eaters—" Professor McGonagall still hesitated.
"It's alright. As long as it's not Mysterio himself, ordinary Death Eaters can't catch me," Siron said with a smile.
"Besides, I can also transform into Animagus, so no one can recognize me."
Professor McGonagall pursed her lips and nodded slightly.
Animagus transformation—this was also the main reason she sought Siren's help.
Her decision to deliberately ignore the matter of having Sirius register with the Ministry of Magic now seems incredibly wise.
Voldemort and his Death Eaters would never have imagined that an ordinary black cat was none other than Cyren Ollivander, whom they had been searching for.
"But there's a problem, Professor, who should I go to?" Siren asked. "If I remember correctly, Hogsmeade almost completely closed down last year; there are hardly any shops open. Do I really think I can find those shop owners now?"
"Of course, you can rest assured about that." Professor McGonagall explained, regaining her composure, "In Hogsmeade, most shops are also the homes of their owners; they don't leave even when they close their doors."
Then she took a piece of parchment out of her pocket, quickly wrote a few names on it, and handed it to Siren.
"You can use this list to find people; they are all people I believe I can trust."
