The slacker professor at Hogwarts
024 What do you think?
Urquhart Castle was not an immediate destination; the professors' duties made it difficult for them to find free time on weekdays.
It was Friday night, after dinner.
On the edge of the forbidden forest, beside the enclosure for raising winged beasts with the head of a harpy.
Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy, who should have been practicing on the pitch, were instead here.
They are undergoing a progress assessment of their teaching by Professor Lockhart, the founder of the Duel Club.
Professors McGonagall and Snape, the heads of both houses, came over to watch. Hagrid, hearing the commotion, also came out of the cabin and approached. Standing beside his tall figure were Ron, Hermione, Neville, Crabbe, Goyle, and Pansy. Everyone looked up nervously at the figure that was rapidly moving through the sky.
This is much more tense and exciting than Quidditch.
Two Seekers, each with exceptional Quidditch talent, wielded their broomsticks, pushing their speed to the limit high above the Forbidden Forest's complex environment, rapidly weaving and charging forward.
Sometimes it swoops down from high altitudes at extremely high speeds, skimming the ground at almost a 90-degree angle as it hurtles towards the gap between two tall trees not far away.
Before I even passed the edge of the tree, a spell tore through the darkness of the forest, brushing past my forehead as I hurriedly dodged, and streaked across the sky in a dazzling display of light.
"Fight back!" Professor Lockhart shouted. "Don't get stuck in that childish turn-based game! This isn't turn-based!"
"When you're preparing to dodge, you should be thinking about counterattacking immediately!"
"Combine dodging and counter-attacking movements!"
"Be smart! Don't just focus on casting Disarm Charms on other people's wands. Who told you Disarm Charms can only be used to disarm?"
"Shoot it at the flying broom!"
"If all else fails, aim for the other person's body!"
"You need to learn how to use the flying brooms effectively. These things aren't just for increasing speed and getting airborne; that's meaningless in your combat!"
"Where are all those high-difficulty moves you practiced with the Quidditch team?!"
"Where's your flexibility?!"
"Instant lift! Lateral shift! Rapid flip and rotation! Circular horizontal turn! You need to know how to use these techniques!"
"Mobility! Agile mobility!"
"That's the essence of Quidditch, not just foolishly thinking about being as fast as possible!"
"I really don't know how you guys became Seekers!"
Lockhart has every right to criticize their handling of the flying broomsticks, as he was also a Seeker for Ravenclaw back in school.
Although the highlight of this experience was when he coincidentally "picked up" a golden thief during a training match, he really knew how to use it flexibly, but he was just not good at putting that wisdom into practice.
Professor McGonagall, watching from the side, was quite excited; her tightly clenched hands trembled slightly, full of eagerness.
She really wanted to get involved too.
Oh, of course, a powerful wizard like her is not really suited to bullying children. Perhaps Professor Lockhart, who has experienced many adventures after graduation, could become her opponent.
Ok……
Lockhart had no idea that Professor McGonagall was thinking such a dangerous thing. He held the wand that was barely better than a fire poker to him and waved it around like a conductor, shouting and pointing.
Sometimes he even almost accidentally poked Professor Snape who was standing to the side.
Snape didn't seem to mind, but he looked on with some surprise as Harry and Draco darted through the woods fighting.
It's only been a short time since the start of the second grade.
I'm afraid many older students wouldn't be able to do that!
He glanced thoughtfully at Professor Lockhart beside him, and suddenly looked at him with newfound respect.
If Lucius (Draco's father) knew how powerful his son had become, he would probably be very grateful to Lockhart.
The match ended quickly.
No one can maintain such high-intensity control of a flying broom and high-intensity spellcasting for long, and the two young wizards quickly came down from their peak condition.
Finding an opening, Harry's Disarming Charm struck Draco squarely.
Draco did indeed learn something from Lockhart's teachings. He grabbed the flying broomstick with one hand and let the power of the disarming charm knock him away. Then, using the force, he swung his body on the broomstick and flew out, landing on Harry Potter.
Then, amidst everyone's gasps, the flying broomstick, carrying two children wrestling together, crashed to the ground, wobbling and swaying like a plane crash.
"Stop the shock absorbers and reduce speed!"
Without Lockhart even needing to lift a finger, Professor Snape, who had been watching closely, instantly intervened. The slowing spell took effect immediately, allowing the two young wizards who were falling rapidly from the sky to land gently on the ground.
Professor McGonagall also intervened.
She waved her wand, and the bushes on the ground suddenly transformed into large wooden hands, pulling the two young wizards, who were still planning to continue fighting, apart.
Everyone quickly stepped forward to check on them.
It was obvious that the two young wizards had gotten carried away by such an intense battle, and in the end they scratched and clawed at each other, leaving a lot of wounds.
Draco still had a bruise on his right eye, and tears were streaming down his face.
"Merlin's beard!" Professor McGonagall exclaimed. "I must get you to Madam Pomfrey's for treatment right away."
"Make way, make way!"
Lockhart pushed aside the group of young wizards who were huddled together, looked Harry and his friends up and down, and shook his head. "It's nothing, just a minor problem."
As he spoke, he held up a bright green branch he had just picked up in one hand and gently tapped the branch with his wand in the other.
Two purple flowers suddenly sprouted from the branch, their petals delicate and fragrant. It seemed as if sticky honey was dripping from their stamens, landing right on the heads of the two little wizards.
The effect is good.
Harry and his friends only had minor wounds to begin with, and they all healed in no time.
After a moment of gasps from Hermione and the other young wizards, they all cheered.
Professor Lockhart!
You are absolutely amazing!
The young wizards' innocent eyes were filled with admiration.
Oh~~~
Lockhart felt a surge of satisfaction as he listened to the young wizards' gazes.
He was used to seeing those kinds of looks all the time, but this magic was something he had cast himself; it was his real ability. How could he not be happy?
Cool!
After the match, Draco and Harry walked towards Hogwarts Castle surrounded by their respective friends, each excitedly recounting the thrilling moments that had just occurred.
Lockhart watched the young wizards' retreating figures with a smile, then turned to Professor McGonagall. "What do you think?"
This is not a simple test of teaching results.
Professor Lockhart plans to take two of his highly trained students to Urquhart Castle, hoping that the young wizards can take the opportunity to grow further.
Professor McGonagall, of course, would not allow such a thing; it was too dangerous.
Even though Professor Lockhart seemed quite confident about this adventure.
Lockhart did not argue, but simply asked Professor McGonagall to come and observe a demonstration of the results, hoping to impress her in the process.
Professor McGonagall wanted her apprentices to take the opportunity to learn as much as possible—she could sense Professor Lockhart's particularly responsible expectations for the two young wizards, but she had to be cautious.
I hesitated for a moment.
Lockhart wasn't in a hurry and waited for an answer.
He naturally hoped that Professor McGonagall would agree. To be honest, the level of power that Harry and Draco possessed was now far greater than his own abilities.
Although he was confident about this adventure, his strength was comparable to that of a Muggle, and he would be completely unable to handle any unexpected accidents. Naturally, the more helpers he had, the better.
Yes.
Lockhart was treating Harry and Draco as his helpers.
Having devoted so much effort and resources to nurturing them, we naturally hope they can be of service when we need their help.
Teaching young wizards is no inconvenient; it should be put to good use!
"Maybe……"
Professor Snape suddenly interjected, drawing out his words. When the two looked over, he spoke quickly, "I agree to let Draco and the others go to Urquhart Castle, if you would allow me to go and help look after them."
Awesome!
A reliable Snape!
Lockhart's eyes lit up, and he quickly looked at Professor McGonagall.
Professor McGonagall finally nodded. "I really hope nothing goes wrong."
