Chapter 51 The First Fallen Attack
In a dark forest, moonlight filtered through the sparse treetops, casting dappled shadows. The air was thick with the damp scent of earth, occasionally broken by the low hooting of owls, adding to the mystery and unease. An eerie stillness enveloped the area. Suddenly, a black wind swept in from the depths of the forest, rustling the leaves, and a few crimson leaves fell, as if paving the way for the newcomer.
Under the watchful eyes of Rune, Jason, and Zatanna, a figure slowly emerged. The First Fallen had arrived, his figure appearing exceptionally tall in the moonlight, his deep, cold eyes seemingly able to see through all the hypocrisy and truth of the world. He walked slowly through the forest, each step steady and powerful, as if this forest were his own domain, and even the surrounding wind seemed to quiet down.
"So you're the First Fallen?" Rune asked, but the newcomer didn't answer. Instead, he stopped. His gaze swept around, as if searching for something. Just as Rune was losing patience, the First Fallen let out a cold laugh.
"You set all these obvious traps?" he asked softly. "Your taste in choosing graves is truly appalling."
Zatanna seemed to realize something, and she touched her pocket, but the horn that should have been in her pocket had vanished.
"Is this what you're looking for?" the man asked. He raised his hands, holding the black horn that could summon the apocalypse. The next moment, he squeezed it hard, and in the eyes of the three, the horn instantly turned into a pile of dust, blown away by the autumn wind.
Jason immediately chanted a spell, transforming into the demon Itrigan, and breathed fire at the Fallen One. However, the Fallen One caught the attack steadily. Only after Itrigan stopped breathing did he emerge from the flames. The Fallen One lightly brushed the ash off his body, looking regretfully at his suit, which was charred in places, ruining its overall appearance.
"Damn it, I actually quite liked this suit." He sighed, then reached out his left hand and dragged Itlergan up like a rag doll before slamming him to the ground.
Rune, not to be outdone, unleashed a magical shockwave at the feet of the Fallen One. The holy water contained within the balloon instantly sprayed out, some of it turning into steam. The Fallen One roared in fury, his face badly burned, while Itrigan, on the other side, remained largely unharmed—thanks to his other side, Jason; the holy water wouldn't harm a good person, and thus showed leniency to the demon attached to him.
Zatanna then removed her hat and chanted a spell, from which countless small animals flew out. However, upon colliding with the First Fallen, they were transformed back into holy water. These small animals were originally transformed by holy water, so even if the First Fallen had tempted them to fall, Rune only needed to transform them back into holy water.
The Fallen One roared and began to dodge the group's attacks. He hadn't expected these people to make him look so pathetic. The next moment, he appeared behind Rune.
"Goodbye, you damned mage!" the newly fallen one said viciously. "I'll gouge out those eyes of yours that shoot out magic and keep them as a keepsake, child!"
The next moment, he swung his fist at Rune, but a transparent glass dome-like object first flashed with light, then shattered, followed by the sound of a fist striking flesh. However, the Fallen One missed his intended target; his fist was caught by Rune.
"Rune! Kill him!" Itlegan shouted gleefully.
The next moment, Rune summoned holy water, covered his fist with it, and then slammed it into the face of the newly fallen demon, inflicting a devastating burn. The demon's head was pierced through, but Rune dared not be careless, swiftly attacking the newly fallen demon. His fist easily pierced the demon, and the newly fallen demon, like a smashed sandbag, was slammed to the ground by Rune, his head pressed down relentlessly.
"Yes! That's exactly it, I was beaten like that too!" Itrigan was so excited he couldn't contain himself, unaware that Zatanna behind him was looking at him with an indescribable gaze. It seemed to contain pity, yet also the feeling of looking at a fool.
"That's enough!"
The Fallen One roared, his fists clenched, veins bulging, his body trembling slightly. A massive amount of magical energy spread with his movement, affecting the air and causing its density to increase dramatically. Rune found himself flying as if in water, and moving faster now required even more effort.
The holes on his face and body healed quickly, but his suit was now almost as worn as the tattered clothes he had worn when he first came to the human world.
The newly fallen one shouted, "You lowly beasts! I watched that madman create you! How dare you disobey me?"
"So what?" Rune narrowed his eyes at the newly fallen one. "Just because you're old, you expect us to treat you with utmost respect? Then I'll give old people a good beating!"
The next moment, Rune was fighting the Fallen again. He threw a right hook, but this time the Fallen easily caught him. Rune then threw a left hook, which was also caught by the Fallen.
"Hmph, nothing else..."
A blazing red light shot from Rune's eyes, terrifying energy surging towards the Fallen One. The demon's face was knocked back, but his legs came together, and he curled up before delivering a vicious kick to Rune's chest. The two separated again, and Rune frowned as he looked at his chest; the clothes under his trench coat had turned to ash. If the levitation cloak hadn't transformed into his trench coat, he would now be in the embarrassing situation of being completely naked from the waist up.
The newly fallen mage beside him was equally bewildered. He rubbed his face and glared fiercely at Rune. In his mind, mages were all fragile creatures, but he never expected someone with such formidable physical strength. This person's physique was comparable to Itrigan's, and his magical power was also considerable. He wondered why this person was helping Zatanna.
Damn it, I'm currently only incarnation and can't come to the mortal realm in my true form, so I really can't defeat Rune for the time being. What's even more troublesome is that Itrigan is also watching me like a hawk, and the little animals controlled by Zatanna are constantly flying towards me. If I kill them, they'll turn into holy water. How hateful!
Enraged, the Fallen One raised his hands, gathering magic power, and then swung them towards Rune, sending a thin beam of light piercing him. Rune's beast senses screamed a warning; the skin around his heart was throbbing with excruciating pain. Rune could only desperately fly away, trying to dodge the beam.
On the other side, pigeons, sparrows, and falcons swiftly flew over and crashed heavily into the Fallen Ones. Itregan's flames poured forth, carrying a strong sulfurous stench, and blasted towards the Fallen Ones. But the Fallen Ones seemed determined to kill the runes, and none of them flinched.
