Chapter 513 The Influence of Emotions on the Soul

Barbara was skeptical of Rune's cooking skills, so she only took a hamburger to try first because she had eaten the worst hamburger at school. So even if Rune's food wasn't good, at least she could force a smile and praise it.

Please forgive Barbara for using the word "worst-tasting" to describe that burger, but she felt that no normal burger, or even a normal loaf of bread, should have tiny white fuzz on it.

Unfortunately, Barbara only discovered this phenomenon after eating most of it.

But the moment she took a bite, Barbara knew she was terribly wrong. Her eyes widened as she carefully chewed the burger. It was juicy, the bun soft yet chewy, the bacon crisp and fragrant, and the pickles and lettuce helped cut through the richness.

Good heavens, if her dad could make burgers like this every day, Barbara might be Barbara by now!

Looking at the others at the table, they were far more frenzied than Barbara. Magically manipulated knives and forks were constantly cutting up the abundant dishes in the center and filling every empty plate, but this couldn't keep up with the eating speed of some of them.

Occasionally, you can hear sounds like, "Could you pass me that bottle of ketchup?" or "Where's the pepper?" But other than that, there are only chewing and swallowing sounds.

Barbara also relaxed a lot, and she began to focus her attention on the plate in front of her. In fact, as long as the patty and bread of the hamburger are made well, it can at least get a passing grade. It is not a kind of meal that is difficult to make.

She didn't want to break up with Dick yet; he was a good man, and until now, Barbara hadn't found a man with a more shapely backside than his—not even Clark or Rune could compare in that respect.

However, Rune was still pleased with Barbara's reaction. Through the conversation with Jonathan and his wife, at least she was no longer so hopeless, but had become much more lively.

Perhaps I can retrieve the levitation cloak?

After careful consideration, Rune decided to leave it on Barbara's neck for a while longer. Perhaps the girl was just suppressing her sadness and deceiving herself with fleeting joy, wanting to take advantage of her momentary lapse in attention and jump off the building. Rune simply didn't have the time to look after her all the time.

He had a premonition that the next world coordinates would appear soon, so Rune quickly focused his attention on his magical research. The magic he used to kill Naboo seemed powerful, but it had too many limitations.

This magic essentially relies on the function of dark magic to use the Dream Stone to pull most of humanity's nightmare creations into reality. This magic can evoke humanity's most fundamental fears, but its main destructive power lies in the corrosive nature of the dark magic itself.

In other words, the reason this spell was able to defeat Naboo wasn't because it was inherently powerful, but because the rune possessed an abundance of magic power. The rune didn't even know if this spell could be called a spell at all—

This can perhaps only be described as something slightly better than inferior techniques like magic release.

Furthermore, its use is contingent upon the Dream Stone, which cannot be used outside the multiverse. Rune was so certain because of the limitations inherent in the Nightmare itself.

At least in the Marvel Universe, there is a supervillain called Nightmare. His abilities are similar to Nightmare's, only his status is not as high. Therefore, he was later tricked by Mephisto.

But this magic itself is not without its inspirations—Naboo's soul was nearly crushed by fear, and in the end, he couldn't even unleash a decent spell. The resilience of a god of order's soul is, of course, self-evident.

If fear has such immense destructive power—what about other emotions?

This is a very interesting topic. In the Harry Potter world, someone once proposed that prolonged study of dark magic could corrupt the souls of wizards.

The most significant effect of black magic research is that it makes wizards' emotions gloomy and vicious. So, is it because emotions affect the soul, or the soul affects emotions, or do the two influence each other?

Rune didn't know the answer yet, but he happened to know where he could get other experimental material—Old Shazam had just imprisoned Pride, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Lust. And now, they were perfectly preserved in the Rock of Eternity.

I just don't know how to persuade old Shazam to let Rune study the Seven Deadly Sins—after all, these seven guys have quite terrifying power; they are even capable of destroying the entire multiverse, and they have indeed done so many times.

In the future event, the Seven Deadly Sins easily defeated Golden Superman, which is enough to prove their strength and danger, even though they were the henchmen of the corrupted Raven.

Thinking about this, Rune suddenly felt like a mad mage in some game, novel, or TV series, about to cause a disaster because of his research into some forbidden doctrines.
