Chapter 32: You almost scared me to death
"What a cold-blooded Spider Woman! You're the real Black Widow, aren't you?"
Gray muttered to himself, then got up from the stretcher. Gwen was such an irresponsible woman. She had originally planned to take him to the hospital, but when she saw the ambulance that was coming as reinforcements, she abandoned him halfway and is now rushing back to the battlefield.
The battle remains deadlocked, with Daredevil and numerous police officers working together but still struggling to subdue Rhino.
Bullets struck the Rhino Man, but were deflected by his thick skin. Even rocket launchers couldn't cause him any real damage, instead driving him into a berserk state, making him rampage through the streets like a reckless truck.
"As a member of the Avengers, I did what a hero should do, and now I can go and take my sisters home." Gray recalled the scene from that day. He pressed Natasha's little head, and just as his emotions were about to explode, Natasha pursed her lips tightly, remained silent, and just stared at him stubbornly with wide eyes.
At that moment, Gray's big head went completely mad and was controlled by his little head. He actually hummed and agreed to go on a mission with Natasha.
However, Natasha was too busy to explain the mission details. Gray then filled in the blanks himself, thinking that taking down a few villains and rescuing some police officers in imminent danger should count as completing the mission.
Whether it counts or not doesn't matter. Anyway, he did it, and we want him to carry out missions again next time. Okay, we'll just need a few more Natashas.
As for why there need to be more, it can only be said that while Natasha is cute and quite useful, she lacks the novelty of the first time, making it much harder to make him lose his mind again.
"Colossus, who are you talking to on the phone?"
In a secluded little park, Gray sat on a bench five meters behind Colossus, watching him curiously.
Colossus was startled, then slowly turned around and said calmly, "Professor X."
Gray responded with an "Oh," and then asked, "What are you going to talk about?"
"Let's talk about your dangerousness and what you've done recently." Colossus didn't mince words, staring directly at Gray, and retorted, "You want to kill me?"
"I have absolutely no such idea."
Gray waved his hand dismissively and urged, "Get to work as soon as you finish the call. Symbolically kill some cops to buy Gambit some time to transfer the new employees."
Do you think I'll still obey your orders?
Colossus shook his head firmly and said in a deep voice, "Back then, you threatened me with the lives of the students, and that's why I pretended to submit to you. In reality, I've been in contact with Professor X all this time. You've gone too far lately, and the X-Men probably won't let you off the hook."
He paused briefly, his words carrying a warning tone: "I know you are very powerful, but we still have many ways to deal with you. The power of mutants is beyond your imagination."
"Your tone isn't very friendly, Colossus." Gray frowned. "I thought we were friends."
"You're too arrogant, Homelander. Nobody wants to be your friend. I often get confused because I can't understand you. In my opinion, you're not even human in the conventional sense."
Colossus stared directly into Gray's eyes, without the slightest fear: "You've always known perfectly well that I betrayed you, but you don't care at all. You're just a dog that needs to do things for you. As for what the dog thinks, or whether the dog will turn against you, you don't care, because you think you can kill any disobedient dog at any time, right?"
"Okay, I understand one thing, Colossus, you're asking for trouble." Gray's eyebrows twitched slightly, almost laughing in anger. There was no doubt that his dignity had been insulted.
There is probably no human being more human than him in this world.
Greed, lust, vanity, narcissism, laziness, selfishness... all the weaknesses of human nature can be found in him.
However, he is indeed different from ordinary people because he possesses invincible power. This power allows him to be free from the constraints of the law and the shackles of morality, and all his actions are driven solely by instinct.
He can save people, help people, and even love someone, but he doesn't experience these emotions very often.
Misunderstanding, yet another misunderstanding.
If Jessica misunderstands, he will explain; if Natasha misunderstands, he will reluctantly explain as well.
As for Colossus... he's too cheap and ugly, not worth wasting my time on.
"You're wrong about one thing. Betrayal is predicated on loyalty. From beginning to end, I never intended for you to be loyal to me."
Gray slowly stood up, shaking his head regretfully: "Workers loyal to their boss? That sounds ridiculous. If I were you, I would curse my boss to die every day, vampire, fuck you, I quit... I've had those thoughts too."
But that won't work, Colossus. Without a job, what will you eat and drink? If you want to continue living, you have to endure it, unless you don't want to live anymore, or you possess the power to do whatever you want.
"But you didn't. You were so weak, so willful, so you could only die."
As soon as he finished speaking, Gray practically teleported in front of Colossus and casually threw a punch, hitting Colossus in the abdomen.
Colossus immediately knelt on one knee, and Gray seized the opportunity to grab him by the neck, continuing, "There's another point you're wrong about. You're not a dog; I always pamper my pets. You're not my employee either; I'm more lenient with full-time employees. You're still on probation, and your performance has been particularly poor. Not only are you slacking off, but you're also completely disobedient. Tell me, how can I tolerate you?"
"You won't kill me so easily. Even if your fists could destroy a mountain, they couldn't pierce my body. I don't know if I should thank you, Homelander. Under your oppression, my abilities have been enhanced like never before by fear. Every inch of my skin, every muscle, even my bones, have all been transformed into indestructible steel. Even if you snap my neck and flatten my body, it's just a transformation into metal. I won't die."
Colossus forced out those words through gritted teeth, his expression utterly calm.
"That's amazing?"
Gray raised an eyebrow, his eyes filled with suspicion.
"That's why Professor X felt comfortable letting me stay by your side. Homelander, release those innocent girls you've imprisoned, then have the sincere victims admit their mistakes, and spend ten or twenty years atoning for your sins. You possess great power, and as long as you're willing to do good, people will be willing to forgive you." Colossus tried to persuade him, a glimmer of hope in his eyes, genuinely hoping that Grey would turn back from the wrong path.
"I'll give it a try. If you're really okay, I'll seriously consider your suggestion."
Gray frowned, his expression turning serious.
To be honest, he was a little intimidated and wondered if the mutants in this multiverse were exceptionally powerful.
If he can't even handle Colossus, then, to put it mildly, he'll need to increase his strength several hundred times before he can continue his evil deeds.
With a nervous heart, Gray threw a punch, putting all his strength into it.
However, it turned out that his worries were completely unnecessary.
"Thump—!"
In an instant, a visible ripple appeared, emitting a loud sound like a bell being struck with full force, and spread rapidly in all directions with an almost savage and violent manner.
Wherever the sound waves reached, the air was pushed aside and compressed into a vacuum. On the ground, the originally flat lawn seemed to be grabbed by an invisible giant hand, and the turf and soil were uprooted. The lake water not far away was even more turbulent.
A light drizzle fell from the sky.
Despite the impact of this terrifying force, Colossus maintained a calm and peaceful demeanor, but his mighty body crumbled away like weathered sand, crushed into dust, leaving only a broken skeleton and a lonely metal head.
"?"
Gray blinked, then pursed his lips speechlessly: "It's kind of scary when an honest person brags with a serious expression."
After confirming that he was still invincible, he happily ripped the head off the skeleton, planning to wax it later and then send it to the collection room for safekeeping.
A completely natural, pure metal human head—there's probably only one like it in a single universe, making it extremely valuable for collection.
