Chapter 31 Simply Serving the Country

A group of well-dressed nobles sat around a round table.

This was once the residence of a prince. After the death of that prince who held immense power, suppressed the Normans, and wanted them to abdicate, the residence was abandoned and sold, becoming the council hall for the old meritorious nobles.

They too have awakened their bloodline, for they are loyal to the Black Kingdom.

But their loyalty to Norman was somewhat ambiguous.

This not only prevents them from entering the core power circle, but also makes them less loyal, weak in terms of their own bloodline power, and difficult to learn magic.

This has led to them being constantly looked down upon, but they simply believe it's a matter of individual talent.

After all, there are many people in their family who have the talent to learn and have been admitted to universities of science and technology.

Now, they have obtained priority in commercial operations.

This was a gesture of goodwill extended to these former meritorious nobles after discussions within the cabinet.

But for these feudal landlords who had previously relied on enslavement, this was a sign that the cabinet council feared!

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sure you all already know why we're sitting here today, right?"

Seated at the head of the table was Chatter Mantes, the current head of the Mantes family, a family that had once been prime ministers, and the son of Norman's father, who was prime minister in that generation.

The nobleman who asked Alice questions in the Hollow Earth Squad was none other than his son, Dieter Mantes!

Two days ago, the cabinet was discussing two sets of theories, which were proposed by Dieter!

"Of course! Your son is truly outstanding. These two theories he has put forward have greatly supported our actions!"

"Yes, yes! In this way, all we need to do is get those unruly people to accept these things, and we can act accordingly without caring what the cabinet says!"

The crowd praised Dieter.

But a young man in the corner, after overhearing their discussion, silently shook his head and quietly slipped away...

"Everyone was praising you, why did you suddenly appear out here?"

"I just got back and saw this, it's so upsetting I can't stay here any longer."

The young man shook his head, looked up at the dark sky, and sighed, "His Majesty once said, 'Those who walk different paths cannot make plans together.' I don't know if my path is the same as His Majesty's, but I certainly won't walk with these guys."

This young man is none other than Dieter Mantes, who has just returned from the Hollow Earth!

The person speaking to him was his cousin, Lanster Frey, the second son of the Frey family, the fourth seat of the twelve holy founding families of the old meritorious nobles.

At the same time, he was also the least favored member of the Frey family, neglected and an "outsider" who had no contact with the Frey family's dirty affairs.

Lanster smiled and asked, "Didn't you see any dragon-like monsters on this trip to the Earth's core?"

"I'm still a student; once I'm on the edge, I can't go back down."

"Hmm, are these 'isms' you're talking about really things His Majesty once said?"

"Even you don't believe me anymore?"

"No, not really. I saw it at the library, it is there, but only a few words about it."

Lanster said, "If you can come up with a complete theory from just a few words, then you're really amazing."

"If I told you that all of this was His Majesty's will, would you believe me?"

"Since it came from His Majesty, why speak up for these guys?"

Lanster's tone suddenly changed.

Even though he was within the area covered by the fire magic circle, Dieter felt a bone-chilling cold in that instant!

This level of low temperature is even comparable to that of a blue dragon!

It reminded Dieter of the chill that rose from the depths of his soul when he first saw the Blue Dragon.

"Did your ice magic work?"

Dieter narrowed his eyes, never expecting that his cousin had actually succeeded!

"Just a fluke." Lanster looked at Dieter, and seeing that Dieter's expression remained unchanged, he dissipated the magic he had gathered.

He became lazy again, sitting on the steps looking at the brightly lit streets in the distance, and sighed, "Times change so fast, don't they?"

"When we were young, a star went out. It was only because His Majesty received a divine revelation that we were able to survive. Ten years have passed. Two years ago, we were hiding in coffins and taking turns to sleep. Now, we are able to live on the surface of the earth again."

"Even with the help of magic, we can still live as we did before the sun went out."

"That's truly unbelievable."

"So... never mind, I should go."

Dieter hesitated for a moment, then shook his head and walked down the stairs.

"Where to?" Lanster asked.

"Go to the council chamber. I received a summons when I returned from the Hollow Earth, and today is the day for the audience."

"Really? Then you'd better do your best."

"I hope so."

"I'm leaving too," Lanster said.

"Where to?" Dieter asked.

"The magic academy has located the coordinates and successfully opened the portal. I volunteer to join the exploration team."

Upon hearing this, Dieter turned to look at Lanster, frowning slightly, and said, "That's dangerous."

Lanster laughed, "I heard the sun there never goes out. I hope my mother can see the sun one more time; she keeps talking about it."

"But everything over there is unknown, and if you go, it's very likely that..."

"It's just serving the country."

Lanster interrupted, "Besides, if we all indulged ourselves, we wouldn't be alive today!"

"yes."

Dieter withdrew his hand, remaining noncommittal.

"Isn't that what you think too, my dear cousin!"

Lanster got up, patted Dieter on the shoulder, and then walked straight toward the Science and Technology Bureau.

"Who knows?"

Watching Lanster's retreating figure, Dieter muttered something in a voice only he knew.

After speaking, Dieter turned around, his back to Lanster, and strode towards the council chamber, where another "battle" awaited him!

But at this moment, he was no longer worried or afraid.

As Lanster said, it's just about serving the country, why think so much?

……

Somewhere in the universe.

A signal traveled through the universe for a long time before being launched by a star that turned and bounced towards a planet that was completely plunged into darkness and drifting in the universe.

When the signal entered the planet, a pair of scarlet eyes opened.

"Desrem is dead."

The voice of the cunning and wicked alien, Mefilas, rang out, followed by the opening of the eyes of the powerful and frozen alien, Grozam, and the evil general, Bogaru.

"How is that possible? Desrem went straight to the Land of Light? He's not that stupid, is he?" Grozam said.

"Who knows? It's just a shame it'd die. I'd rather eat it." The evil Bogaru patted his belly in dissatisfaction.

"I don't know, but His Majesty has ordered us to bring the army there."

The Mefilas alien stood with his hands behind his back and said coldly, "Whoever killed Desrem, it was a provocation against His Majesty the Emperor!"

"Only darkness and destruction can wash away this shame!"

"No matter who it is, they must die!"
