Chapter 10 Sharing the Same Boat

What is this guy saying?

Colonel James looked at Damian blankly.

"What on earth is going on, Colonel James!"

Connie Jonah, the last heir to the Connie family fortune, roared angrily at James, "We're not here to listen to the ramblings of a lunatic!"

If Damian says he can fund the acquisition of both banks, then it's certainly worth sitting down and having a proper talk.

But what is this idiot saying?

He actually suggested that everyone give him the two banks directly!

This is absolutely incomprehensible!

"That's right, Colonel James,"

Others also spoke up, demanding, "You owe us an explanation!"

"That's enough!"

Some people simply stood up and left, saying, "I don't have time to waste on idiots!"

If both banks are beyond saving, then it's time to seriously consider transferring assets.

Otherwise, once the news is exposed, the angry public will not give them another chance.

"Wait! Please calm down, everyone!"

The bewildered naval captain finally snapped out of his daze and hurriedly tried to calm the restless crowd. He repeatedly winked at Damian, "Mr. Damian, perhaps you were too hasty and didn't organize your thoughts properly. Could you explain your plan to everyone in more detail?"

"The situation is now crystal clear."

Damian turned slightly to the side, placed his right hand horizontally on the table, tapped the surface lightly with his fingertips, and smiled casually, "You no longer have enough funds to fill the holes in the two banks, and the banks' investments and loans cannot be recovered in the short term."

"And once the news gets out, the people who want to get their assets back won't listen to your explanations. At that point, you'll all go bankrupt."

"In that case,"

Damian laughed and said, "Why don't you just give me both banks? I'll take on all the debts, and of course, all the assets will be mine too."

"You're dreaming!"

Jonah retorted without hesitation, "You think you can get something for nothing from us? As the owner of Moretti Bank, you must know how much asset both banks still have! You think you can just take it all away like that?"

Damian shrugged. "Of course I know, but the problem is, can you liquidate these assets? And how will you recover them if the bank declares bankruptcy?"

"You're going to end up with nothing either way. Keeping the two banks will only subject you to public anger. Wouldn't it be better to just give them to me?"

"That's absolutely impossible!"

The man who stood up to leave shouted angrily, "You may not have a way, but you'll always find one! Trying to take advantage of our misfortune? No way!"

This is the narrow-mindedness of capitalists.

Damian chuckled softly.

They knew perfectly well that not giving up the remaining bank assets would only lead to more serious consequences, but they just couldn't bear to let go.

"Let's go!"

Jonah glared at Damian and prepared to turn and leave without hesitation.

What a waste of time.

"Walk?"

Damian smiled. "Didn't I already say? This isn't a request, it's a demand."

"What's wrong?"

Jonah looked at Damian with disdain. "Are you trying to threaten us?"

"I think I heard someone being rude to my older brother!"

The hall door was suddenly pushed open, and a man strode in.

Bartolomeo, hands in his pockets, arrogantly walked up to Jonas amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd. "Is that you, kid?"

"Bar, bar, Bartolomeo!!"

Jonah's voice was trembling.

Everyone here knows him.

Everyone here comes from wealthy merchant families in Loguetown and has little contact with the mad dogs of the underworld.

Even so, they still recognized Barto, the boss who had unified the entire underworld of Loguetown like never before!

"That's right! It's you, Uncle Barto!"

Bartolomeo laughed heartily, "You do have some knowledge after all!"

Jonah's face was pale, and just as he was about to say something, Barto punched him in the face with his backhand.

The delicate and frail second young master of the Connie family instantly contorted his face, and his whole body flew out like a rag doll, crashing headfirst into the wall, instantly bleeding from his head and collapsing to the ground.

The entire room fell silent.

"But that's no excuse for your disrespect towards your elder brother!"

Bartolomeo turned around, his demonic,狰狞 face instantly silencing everyone. "Listen up, you idiots! Anyone who displeases Big Brother is my enemy!"

"this--"

Colonel James was even more bewildered.

Why is Bartolomeo here?

Does the "elder brother" he's referring to mean Damian?

Who exactly is this guy?

It seems that none of you know about your connection with Barto?

Damian wasn't too surprised by this.

After all, apart from his childhood, he had lived a secluded life for the past two years since returning to Loguetown, spending most of his time training in the manor.

Outsiders have hardly ever seen him, let alone know about his relationship with Barto.

"Excuse me, everyone, my younger brother has a bit of a temper."

Damian said with a kind expression, "Please bear with me."

"Colonel James! What are you doing?!"

At that moment, a man screamed at the top of his lungs, "Damian has gone mad!"

Colonel James finally snapped out of his daze.

crazy!

Damian has indeed gone mad!

Does he want to threaten everyone to achieve his goal?

If headquarters finds out about this—

I must stop him immediately!

"Didn't I already say that?"

James adjusted his navy cap and calmly began, "Listen to what Mr. Damian has to say."

These words left the already panicked people completely stunned.

"Colonel James?"

People stared blankly at James.

What am I saying?

James' eyes were bloodshot.

What happened?

Why is my body out of control?!

"I believe Mr. Damian's suggestion is currently the only way to resolve the crisis."

James listened to his own cold, hard voice, "I'm sorry, everyone, I'm doing this for the stability of Roguetown, for the people here, for..."

"justice!"

Everyone just stared at him blankly.

"Let me be blunt."

James said, "If you don't want to become enemies of justice, then please think it over again."

Damian tapped his fingers lightly on the table, and thin, almost invisible threads extended from his fingertips, dangling from the edge of the table and reaching Colonel James beside him.

To achieve precise control, more threads and more attention are required.

But looking at it now, the results are very good.

Without strong Haki to resist, the power of a Devil Fruit is absolute, and even James, a Marine Headquarters colonel, was unable to resist Damian's power.

"Hehehe, get it now?"

Bartolomeo chuckled maniacally, "Just be obedient!"

"Barto, be polite to everyone,"

Damian gave Barto a soft rebuke, then smiled and said, "Gentlemen, have you thought this through? Isn't it too dangerous to still hold onto both banks in the current situation?"

"Not only will we face the wrath of the people, but the Krieg Pirates might also return at any time. How terrifying that would be."

People were all as pale as paper, and some of the more timid ones were even trembling.

"really,"

Just then, Colonel James chimed in, "No one can guarantee that the Krieg Pirates won't come back."

"I, I, I agree..."

A weak and feeble voice rang out.

It's Connie Jonah, the guy who was just punched away by Barto.

With him as their representative, the others nodded eagerly, "We agree too!"

Who would dare disagree now?

Both the legitimate and criminal elements in Loguetown are on Damian's side. If he refuses again, the Krieg Pirates might be back tonight!

"Great job, thank you everyone for your cooperation."

Damian clapped his hands, and Butler Tyrone immediately pushed open the door and came in, holding a stack of documents. "Let's sign the agreement now."

"By the way, to ensure everyone's safety, I will have Barto send some people to protect you until the handover is complete."

"Don't worry, big brother."

Bartolomeo chuckled, "I will select my most capable subordinates and protect them around the clock."

Upon hearing this, everyone couldn't help but reveal smiles that were even more painful than tears.

After they had slowly finished signing the documents, Damian asked Barto to send someone to take them home. He had originally planned to at least finish the banquet proceedings, but judging from their appearance, they probably weren't in the mood to eat.

Standing by the window, watching the crowd rushing away outside the hotel entrance below as if fleeing a disaster, Damian calmly said, "I'm not very good at business, and I don't understand the intricacies of business politics, so I can only resort to this simple method."

"Damian!"

The roar came from behind.

The old colonel, finally free, appeared behind Damian like a raging beast, his figure flashing. His right index finger thrust out, "Finger Gun!"

thump.

A dull sound.

Thick fingers poked into the green, translucent barrier.

"Heh heh, what do you want to do, you idiot!"

Bartolomeo crossed his arms, his index and middle fingers overlapping, a gesture he used to activate his power. "You think you can even touch a hair on my head?"

"Don't get agitated, Colonel,"

Damian turned around with a smile, "Now, aren't we in the same boat?"
