Chapter 22 Whip Chains
Isn't this just the plot of Iron Man 2?
Time flies, doesn't it? It's been less than a month since The Incredible Hulk ended and Iron Man 2 is here. Then Thor 1 will be here too. Once the Thor 1 storyline is over, his dear brother "Bambi" will lead an alien army to invade Earth, right? Should I leave New York first?
"A reasonable guess. After all, this motorsport is the hottest topic in Morocco right now, and what else could Mr. Stark, that famous playboy, be doing in Morocco?" Miller's mind raced with thoughts, but he continued the call with Pepper. "Is Mr. Stark with you right now, Ms. Pepper?"
"He's not here now; he's about to go on stage."
"Then please inform Mr. Stark that, based on his medical expertise, I do not recommend that he engage in any strenuous exercise before the reactor in his chest is removed!"
"Oh, Tony has already removed the reactor. Jarvis even told me it was your suggestion. I've talked to Tony about it a few times before, but I couldn't convince him to remove it. How did you manage to convince him?"
"…secret."
Sure enough, when it comes to this kind of issue, almost all men care a lot, and Tony Stark is no exception.
Miller, unable to find a suitable reason to persuade Tony Stark to stop the game, can only hope that Stark has good luck.
After a three-second moment of silence for Tony Stark, Miller immediately turned on the huge TV in the living room, started searching for racing channels, and found some popcorn and soda, eagerly anticipating the upcoming plot.
Miller didn't have to wait long. When Tony Stark appeared as a race car driver, all eyes were on him. Even after the race started, the person who received the most screen time was this famous genius scientist, billionaire, and superhero.
Soon, the scene Miller had been expecting appeared: "Whiplash" Ivan Vanko jumped from the stands onto the track, pulled out his whip, and swung it hard at Tony Stark's car, ready to take him down.
Tony Stark hurriedly tried to steer his car to avoid the whip, but the whip's range was too large, and it still hit Tony's car.
Although the blow didn't hit Tony Stark himself, it completely destroyed his car, forcing him to roll off and increasing the distance between him and the whipchain.
As Whiplash approached Tony Stark, it continuously swung its massive steel whip. The high-voltage current flashing across the whip gave the weapon tremendous energy, smashing everything it touched to pieces.
The steel whip struck the ground, and the asphalt on the track boiled into a charred liquid in the electric arc. Tony Stark could smell the pungent sulfur odor even through his helmet.
Just as Whiplash reached Tony Stark, ready to take his life, he was rammed by a black sedan that suddenly appeared. The door opened, and Pepper Potts threw her suitcase to Tony. Happy, in the driver's seat, tried to ram Whiplash again, but was pulled out by Whiplash's steel whip as he stood up. The car split in two, forcing Happy and Pepper to abandon it and flee.
Taking advantage of the brief moment the two had gained, Tony Stark quickly donned the Mark 5 armor and rescued them from Whiplock's grasp.
On a side note, Miller would almost always stop and watch this mecha outfit whenever he saw it on short videos in his past life. In other words, Miller loves any image of a mecha outfit.
Upon seeing Tony Stark, Whiplock immediately ignored Happy and the other man and continued to whip Tony Stark.
Although he was wearing the armor, the portable armor "Mark 5" lacked sufficient means of attack, and if touched by the steel whip of Whiplock, the violent electric current could instantly destroy Tony's armor.
Tony Stark was thus badly beaten. Fortunately, Whiplash, despite his high intelligence, lacked sufficient combat experience, which was understandable given his bear-like physique.
Tony Stark, who was proficient in various fighting skills, quickly found the weakness of Whiplock. Without the steel whip, Whiplock was just a strong ordinary person.
After giving instructions to Jarvis, Tony Stark proactively wrapped the whip around his body. Before Whiplock could even rejoice, Tony Stark controlled the armor to firmly bind the whip to the armor and then frantically spun it towards Whiplock. Whiplock tried to resist, but his strength was clearly no match for Tony Stark, who was wearing the armor.
Tony Stark quickly maneuvered the Mark 5 to Whiplock's side and slapped him to the ground. He then proceeded to destroy Whiplock's weapons one by one.
Only then did the police, who had already arrived, come to the scene of the battle and arrest the man with whip chain.
After Tony carefully examined himself, Happy, and Pepper's bodies and confirmed that they were not seriously injured, he ordered Jarvis to stop sending the "Mark 7" armor to find Miller and bring him to this scene.
But after leaving the arena, Tony looked at the affected civilians and his heart softened quickly. He still had Mark 7 bring Miller over, because his excellent memory seemed to remind him that Miller had said he didn't charge ordinary people for his treatments.
Miller, who was watching Iron Man vs. Whiplash at home, was staring at the mech on his balcony through the glass door. Miller's expression was strange. If Miller understood correctly, this thing seemed, probably, perhaps, or definitely was coming for him.
Based on the images on television, Miller had an absurd thought: "Could this thing have been specially made for me by Tony Stark? So that it can be used to treat him promptly?"
Although he had this idea in mind, Miller did not act rashly. After all, now that Whiplock was out, Tony Stark was no longer the only one capable of building Jaegers. Miller only breathed a sigh of relief after receiving the message that the Jaeger had left.
Because of his death in his previous life and his gangster experiences in this life, Miller has made "a wise man avoids dangerous situations" his motto.
He felt that given his current situation, staying at home and watching TV was fine; fighting and killing were not suitable for him at all.
Unexpectedly, just as Miller sat down, the mech reappeared on Miller's balcony, and his cell phone rang.
"Dr. Miller, do we need you?"
"Jarvis, I saw it on TV, Tony and the others weren't hurt at all."
"But there are many ordinary people here who have been affected."
"Aren't there doctors there? Why are you looking for me? I'm very expensive."
"Because we need you! These doctors aren't saving lives, they're killing them! Dr. Grandet!" Stark took the call. "I'll double the house call fee."
Stark was clearly dissatisfied with the local healthcare system.
Miller refused without hesitation. He wasn't some superhero, and he couldn't care less about these people's lives.
