Chapter 27 Embrace
With the clone gone, the mech soldiers who were wreaking havoc on the streets also suddenly stopped moving.
Seeing the mech soldiers stop moving, Tony breathed a sigh of relief and prepared to take Pepper away. After all, Tony knew very well that these mech soldiers could self-destruct, because he had just been blown up.
Just as he was about to have Jarvis call Pepper, the mech soldiers sprang into action again.
But as soon as they clashed, Tony quickly realized something was wrong. The Jaegers were far less agile than before, and their fighting style was very rigid. Before, even a single Jaeger could make him look bad, but now he could easily take down several.
Upon recalling the phone call from Ivan Vanko, who had threatened to make him pay, Tony quickly realized that the mysterious masked man was not an accomplice of Ivan Vanko.
Tony was extremely wary of the mysterious masked man because Tony's intended methods to deal with him had been controlled by him and unleashed even greater power.
Ivan Vanko also realized that the combat power of these mech soldiers under his remote control was far inferior to that of the mech piloted by the mysterious man. Seeing that these mechs were completely unable to do anything to Tony, he turned his attention to the mech that he had custom-made for himself.
Meanwhile, Pepper, who was hiding in the control room, also received a call from Tony. After hanging up, Pepper calmly glanced at Justin Hammer, then walked over to the operator and gave him some instructions.
Natasha touched the small pistol and electrode pads on her body, and while watching the exaggerated firepower exchange between Iron Man and the Jaeger soldiers on the surveillance video, she wondered if it was time for her to retire.
As Tony fought the Jaegers, Jarvis issued a warning: "Sir, a much larger energy entity has appeared."
As soon as Jarvis finished speaking, a huge mech fell directly from the sky in front of Tony, and the impact created a powerful shockwave on the ground.
Fortunately, the massive shockwave caused almost no damage. After all, following the chaos just now, there were practically no survivors or intact buildings left in the area.
The giant mech that suddenly appeared in front of Tony moved briefly, and then two huge energy whips appeared on its arms, attacking Tony.
Tony was dodging while simultaneously launching counterattacks, but his counterattacks seemed to have little effect on the Jaeger.
"Sir, we currently have only 32% energy left," Jarvis warned, "and our weapon reserves have also been depleted."
"Unleash the Palm Cannon, maximum power!" Tony immediately ordered. The laser weapon capable of causing massive damage had already been used, leaving him with only this one means of attack.
A powerful energy began to gather in Stark's palm, influencing Tony's actions as well.
Ivan Vanko seized the opportunity to bind Tony with his energy whip, but Tony's armor was highly reliable and had already completed its energy charge in that short time.
A dazzling beam of energy shot from Tony's armor palm toward Ivan Vanko's Whiplash Armor.
The immense power knocked the Whip Chain Armor to the ground.
"Energy remaining: 22%, sir."
Before Tony could even breathe a sigh of relief, the energy whip in the Whiplash Armor once again wrapped around Tony's armor. The red lights on the armor began to flash continuously, clearly indicating that Ivan Vanko had also installed a self-destruct system on this Whiplash Armor.
At the same time, the red lights on the chests of all the Jaegers that Tony had just knocked down also began to flash.
"Put all the remaining energy into the thrusters." Tony was frantic. If he didn't get away in time, he would almost certainly die in the center of the explosion.
However, the energy whip was wrapped so tightly that Tony's whip-lock armor was pulled up with him as he ascended into the air.
Just as Tony was preparing to use his Palm Cannon to try and sever the mech's arm, a red shield appeared before him at incredible speed, slicing through the energy whip on the Whiplash Armor and returning to the hand of a tall man wearing red, blue, and white armor.
The Whiplock armor, now unsupported, began to fall halfway through the air before exploding. Other mechs also began to self-destruct, turning the entire Stark Industries Expo Center into ruins.
At Hammer Industries, Ivan Vanko slammed his fist on the keyboard after seeing the unharmed Tony Stark through the computer screen, then packed his things and disappeared.
Tony didn't even have time to greet the newcomer; he immediately had Jarvis contact Pepper. Only after confirming that Pepper, hiding in the control room, was relatively safe did he relax. He looked towards the newcomer, only to find that the guy had suddenly vanished.
"Jarvis? How did that guy who looked like an old relic disappear?"
"It should be a stealth fighter, sir."
"Agent Romanov and that charcoal-haired guy are in S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
"There is a 75% chance."
"It seems that S.H.I.E.L.D. is still somewhat useful."
Only after the fighting ceased did NYPD personnel arrive at the "ruins" in patrol cars. However, the number of reporters from various newspapers was significantly reduced, with only a handful remaining.
Even so, these reporters seemed nervous, as if they were constantly worried about someone's appearance.
One by one, the remaining survivors hiding in various buildings emerged from their various "shelters," including Pepper.
Justin Hammer, who followed them out, began to be questioned by the survivors.
After all, the damage caused by the mech soldiers far exceeded that of the mysterious masked man.
Justin Hammer naturally blamed everything on the mysterious man, but two police officers who suddenly appeared handcuffed him without explanation. Justin Hammer knew that there was evidence in the control room proving that the mysterious man was controlling the mech soldiers, so he shouted for Pepper to bring it out.
It wasn't until I saw Pepper's calm face that I realized what was happening.
"Pepper Potts, very well, you're the one who reported me! I'll make you pay for offending me..."
Stark stepped forward and sneered, "You'd better explain why Ivan Vanko is at Hammer Industries first."
Justin Hammer, handcuffed by the police, stared at Tony in surprise, utterly bewildered as to how Tony knew of Ivan Vanko's existence.
It can only be said that Justin Hammer has single-handedly lowered the average IQ of Marvel's billionaires.
After everyone left, Tony hugged Pepper, who was standing in front of him.
"I'm glad you're alright."
Pepper's resentment vanished instantly. She patted Tony on the shoulder and said, "I'm fine. I was worried about you too."
