Pokémon: Just won the championship, the newbie growth system is here!

Chapter 2: The Forest That's Not So Friendly to Newbies

A loud bang echoed in the sky.

A shadow soaring through the sky falls by the pond, and leaves fall from the Pokémon.

"Thank you for giving me a ride."

He waved to Latias, who was driving him to the forest near Tokiwa City.

Latias smiled and waved her arm to indicate that she was welcome, then flew into the sky and disappeared.

The Kanto region's environment is like a large loop, with the Indigo Plateau and Viridian City, where new trainers set off, only a mountain away in terms of altitude.

Most trainers in the Kanto region come from towns outside the forests and take their first step as trainers when they come to Viridian City.

Challenge gyms in various locations, and once you've completed the journey to collect all seven badges, the improved trainer will return to Viridian City.

Challenge the strongest eighth gym, Leafy Gym.

Viridian City also serves as the starting and ending point of the journey for Kanto Pokémon Trainers.

Hiking through the forest, our current location, according to the map, should be in the natural jungle between Pallet Town and Viridian City.

The Pokémon here aren't very strong; most are Pidgey or Rattata, making it a very friendly training ground for beginners.

Besides Rattata, there's Bellsprout walking through the grass, Slowpoke daydreaming in the pond, and Nidoran climbing the treetops to find berries for food.

There are many different kinds of Pokémon in natural forests.

Trainers in the Kanto region prefer to call this place the "Beginner's Forest".

Don't be fooled by the name and let your guard down; danger still lurks even in forests where Pokémon are not strong.

Pokémon evolve naturally, and some dangerous ones, such as wild Victreebel and Arbok, are Pokémon that you need to be wary of.

Occasionally, deep within this forest, there are also Pokémon with a strong sense of territory, such as Nidoking and Nidoqueen.

Training can be dangerous once you step into their territory.

Therefore, the Beginner Forest is not as friendly to novice trainers as its name suggests; it is still a tough battle.

However, this is the first test of your determination to become a trainer. If you can't accept it, you should just go home.

Leaves fall as you stroll through the forest. In autumn, the leaves turn red, and the withered yellow leaves and abundant fruits create a natural landscape for this season.

In this world, children are considered adults at the age of ten, and they are qualified to be trainers, able to embark on their trainer journey with their first Pokémon.

Your first Pokémon can come from many sources: gifts from parents, family inheritance, or gifts from relatives and friends.

For those with limited resources, you can go to the Pokémon Lab of a local wildlife researcher to obtain a Pokémon that has been artificially bred from scratch.

However, it's first-come, first-served. There's no fixed number of Pokémon that the professor's lab can raise. If you oversleep and don't get one, you'll have to wait until next year.

If a child from an ordinary family doesn't get a Pokémon, they can only rely on luck.

You might encounter your destined companion in the wild, or simply capture a little Rattata and embark on an adventure.

Although Pokémon battles are fair, there are still conditions in this world that are not so fair from the start.

It is impossible to achieve absolute fairness in everything.

Some people are born with iron dumbbells as a gift from their parents.

Some people go through great hardships to catch their first Pidgey when they are ten years old.

Ye Luo was clearly lucky; by a twist of fate, he became partners with the sea lion Qiu Qiu from the very beginning.

That is, the Primarina that has evolved into now.

The Oddish staggered past, glanced at the humans, then staggered back to the main group and ran into the grass.

At the end, there is a trumpet bud, pretending to be an Oddish mixed in with the marching Oddish army.

They are looking for suitable places with light. Grass-type Pokémon need plenty of sunlight to survive, and they will be less energetic if there is not enough sunlight.

They are considered one of the easier types to raise.

Most wild Pokémon are relatively neutral and don't like to interact with humans unless it interferes with their lives.

Only after the fallen leaves had passed did he continue along the path.

The distance from the Forest of Novices to Viridian City isn't far, only about ten kilometers.

If you have a vehicle, you can get there in a flash, but hiking through the jungle would take three days.

Weeds can conceal dangers, bushes can hinder walking, and climbing streams and slopes requires physical effort.

Leaves fall as they pluck orange-red berries from the bushes and casually pop them into their mouths, savoring their subtle sweet and sour taste.

The only positive aspect is that almost all the fruits here are non-toxic and edible.

Tree fruits and mushrooms on the shaded side may be poisonous, so it's best to avoid them. However, all tree fruits and berries are edible.

Go!

The sound of children could be heard from not far away; looking out from under the shade of the trees...

A boy wearing a hat is picking up a Poké Ball from the ground.

Judging from the group of Poppies that just flew away, it's likely that he was trying to tame the wild Poppies by directly throwing a ball at them.

The boy looked unwilling to give up, gripped the Poké Ball tightly, and ran off to find other Pokémon.

He spotted the passing walking grass and threw the ball at it with all his might.

Even an outsider could tell that his throwing motion was extremely careless, and sure enough, the ball was thrown high and far from the target, far from the goal he wanted to capture.

"I don't believe you, let's try again!"

The boy picked up the brand-new Poké Ball he was carrying and went off to chase after a new Pokémon.

For newcomers eager to embark on their trainer journey, catching their first Pokémon is the first trial.

After the boy left, he also came out from behind the bushes. The walking grasses hadn't actually left; they were still in the same place.

The sunlight here is good, and they are reluctant to leave this sunny spot.

Leaf Fall took out the berries she had picked from the bushes earlier from her pocket, and Walking Grass, smelling the scent of oranges, cast a curious glance in her direction.

He bent down and placed the berries flat in his palm.

The curious walking grass came over, somewhat wary. Seeing that the humans were not moving, it cautiously picked up a berry and ate it.

Seeing that there was still no reaction, I took a second bite, and then a third bite.

Wild Pokémon generally don't like to interact with people, but since Pokémon have different personalities, there will always be one or two that become curious about humans.

At this point, if you don't treat them with hostility and instead cater to their preferences, it will be easier to get close to them.

Then, by surprise, throwing a Poké Ball will easily hit the target, and the weak Pokémon will not have a strong desire to break free, making it easy to capture.

But Ye Luo didn't care. After feeding all the berries to Oddish, he stood up. Oddish, still wanting more, even tried to jump up and down a couple of times.

It seems she has some interest in him.

"I'm sorry, but my queue is full."

Ye Luo has no intention of abandoning his Pokémon team in order to catch a new one. This is the championship team that has accompanied him all the way through the journey until he won the championship. How could he just change it?

This Oddish, which showed a slight interest in humans, became the catalyst for being captured by its trainer and embarking on a delightful adventure filled with petals and surprises.

But this is all for later.
