Chapter 36 Umbreon and Mushroom Soup
"I took some interesting photos."
Midway along the cliff path: Leaf Falls is eating melons on the side, Gardevoir and Meloetta are arguing and taking a photo together in the middle of the cliff path, a typical scene, reward 2 points.
The ensemble at the summit of Mount Tsukimi: A beautiful ensemble featuring the singing of Seishin, the backing vocals of Meloetta, and the harmonica playing of Yelu. 6 points are awarded as a reward.
Gardevoir's Cooking Time: The scene shows Gardevoir stewing Honeypot in an iron pot. While the Pokémon itself doesn't seem to care, the resulting curry is surprisingly good. An interesting sight! Reward: 8 points.
In the early morning, the trainers stretched and yawned after getting ready.
Before she knew it, Ye Luo discovered that she had accumulated 20 points in the photo section of her phone.
The highest score was actually for [Gardedoll Stewed with Snake]. The angle of the photo was excellent. Snake stretched out its five necks and looked around. Gardevoir used its psychic powers to float ingredients around it. The ingredients were colorful and looked like a strange ritual was being performed in the photo.
"I clearly think the ensemble performance looks better."
Using a low-angle shot, the image frames the singing Sissihairen along with the Milky Way in the sky, while he himself plays the harmonica in the middle of the triangular composition, and Meloeta sits on his lap singing joyfully.
It looks much quieter. If Ye Luo were to rate it herself, this one would probably get the highest score.
As for the first one, Ye Luo felt a little embarrassed.
"But this one is also included, showing Meloetta and Gardevoir arguing and bickering, which is actually worth 2 points."
Not understanding the judging criteria, Ye Luo didn't bother to think about them; anyway, he was given 20 trainer points.
One point can open a low-level blind box, but ten points can open a mid-level blind box.
The low-level blind boxes only contain ingredients, but I'm quite curious about what the mid-level blind boxes might contain. I weighed my options.
"Give me one intermediate-level blind box and ten low-level blind boxes."
When Arceus tapped the points redemption button on his phone, his handbag flashed a white light.
Ye Luo quickly unzipped her bag and searched for the newly acquired items.
Besides a bunch of extra tree fruits, I found a bottle of water among the fallen leaves.
The bottle neck has a T-shaped cap and a ring for holding glass marbles. Both sides of the neck are recessed, which should contain sparkling water. At the bottom, there is a heart-shaped solid object of unknown origin.
"The mid-range blind box is a bit of a rip-off; all they give you is a bottle of sparkling water?"
It doesn't feel much better than low-end blind boxes; at least tree fruits can be used to fill your stomach.
This bottle of sparkling water didn't have a production address or manufacturer listed on it; like the orange juice, it had a sticky note attached.
"Love Soda: Delicious and refreshing sparkling water that can restore a Pokémon's stamina after drinking."
Love is the best medicine, and the closer a Pokémon is to its trainer, the better it recovers.
It looks like the same as a regular refreshing soda, but this additional effect piqued Ye Luo's curiosity.
"The closer the Pokémon is to the Pokémon, the better the recovery effect."
So this means I got a high-quality item?
There are two quality levels of items in blind boxes: one is a regular fruit with no effect, and the other is a premium fruit with additional effects.
I don't know if there are different grades for "high-quality" drinks, but this bottle of soda is definitely a premium product.
Ye Luo's Pokémon are all champions who have traveled with him for a long time, so their affinity is self-evident. In other words, the healing effect of [Love Soda] is equivalent to a bottle of high-level healing potion, which is possible.
"Even if this bottle of soda had the same effect as the full recovery medicine, we wouldn't need it now."
Ye Luo stuffed the soda back into his backpack. His own Pokémon was hard to hurt, so he didn't need it for the time being.
However, those tree fruits were all good things; even the ordinary tree fruits were fresh and could be eaten on the road to stave off hunger.
Needless to say, Ye Luo also drew several delicious tree fruits, which can slightly increase [Attack], [Defense], and [Special Defense].
When Ye Luo is playing games, she hates seeing words like "a little" or similar. Wouldn't it be better to just specify the exact amount?
Is it 1% or 0.01%? Is it permanent or will it last for a while? And how long will "a while" last?
It's really a headache.
"At least if you don't care about the effects, it's fine to use it as regular food; just use it as a regular ingredient."
He put away his Pokémon, slung his bag over his shoulder, and continued on his way towards Cerulean City.
Umbreon scouted ahead and found a gentle route down the mountain.
Ye Luo still chose to take the cliff path, but when he passed through the nearby mountains, the cliff path broke off, and he had to take a cave instead.
As Umbreon approached the cave, it shook its body, and the golden patterns on its body shone brightly. When it used the move "Flash," it acted like a spotlight, illuminating the surrounding cave.
"Aww~ (Stay close to me)."
"Okay, let's go."
Leaf fell behind, while Umbreon led the way.
The path inside the cave was like a maze. After walking for a short distance, two forks appeared in the cave: one was a straight slope, and the other extended downwards.
Some of the caves were left by people who excavated fossils.
Umbreon peered into the cave entrance, listening intently to the sound of the wind. If it heard the sound of wind flowing, it meant it was heading towards the exit.
It may not be the right path, but at least it's not a dead end; it's worth taking a look.
"Aww~".
Umbreon turned its head and called out to Leaffall, probably saying that both sides were paths, and it was up to Leaffall to decide which one to take.
After thinking for a moment, Ye Luo decided to walk sideways.
"Go to the left."
Umbreon did not refuse and chose to take the route through the left cave.
Inside the cave, you rely almost entirely on your sense of direction and intuition to find your way. If you're worried about not being able to get out, you can bring a sturdy long rope and tie it to the place where you came from outside. At least you can ensure that you can return the way you came by following the rope.
By the way, using the light from Umbreon, Leaf Fall searched the vicinity for any possible fossils.
The resources of Mount Tsukimi have been overexploited. Now, not only are fossils rare, but even the moonstone, a specialty of Mount Tsukimi, is extremely scarce.
The limited number of Moonstones are mostly hidden by Clefairy, who inhabit Mt. Tsukimi. If you want to obtain Moonstones, catching a Clefairy might be a good way.
However, finding the elusive Fairy-type Pokémon in the maze-like caves depends on the trainer's luck.
There's a rumor that "seeing two Pipi dancing" means your wishes will come true.
Ye Luo recalled the urban legend-like rumors that some couples had actually ventured into Mount Tsukimi just to see Pipi dance.
In a small cave connected to a main cave entrance, Paras, illuminated by fluorescent light, is growing mushrooms.
Despite numerous urban legend-like and terrifying speculations, the question of whether Paras's true form is the worm below or the mushroom growing on its back remains a hotly debated topic in the Pokémon academic community.
However, Paras would pick the mushrooms that grew on the shells and plant them in the soil. They tasted just like ordinary mushrooms, and were quite delicious.
"The current mainstream view is that it is a symbiotic relationship, which means that there is only one consciousness. When Paras is a Pokémon, its physical characteristics are more like a Bug-type Pokémon. After evolving into Parasect, it will be closer to a Grass-type. There is no such thing as death."
Some unorthodox academic views once suggested that once Paras evolved, the Bug-type Pokémon below it would die. This has now been proven false; it was actually just a change in form.
Paras, who was planting mushrooms, ran away in fright as soon as he noticed Umbreon approaching.
As Ye Luo approached, he casually picked the larger mushrooms near the mushroom circle.
This type of Parasitic mushroom is used for both medicinal and culinary purposes. It doesn't have any mushroom flavor at all; instead, it has a delicate fragrance and makes for a very delicious soup.
"Let's make cream of mushroom soup for lunch."
"Aww~".
Upon hearing about the dishes to be prepared for lunch, Umbreon let out a cry of approval.
