Pokémon: Just won the championship, the newbie growth system is here!

Ye Luo completed her first task and felt refreshed, striding out of the research institute's gate.

The flustered boy ran up the steps, brushing past him as he went up.

Underneath the hat was chestnut-colored hair, and her cherry-pink eyes blinked. She looked to be about ten years old, and she was already shouting before she even reached the entrance of the research institute.

"I'm so sorry!! Do you still have my Pokémon?!"

All that's left for the boy is a slightly problematic new Leaf Cat, but it seems he doesn't have a choice.

Ye Luo didn't care about what happened next and went downstairs.

The boy even turned around to look at the person he had just brushed past.

"Who is that person?"

As for his appearance, I don't remember any familiar faces, but what's unforgettable is the cool Umbreon on his shoulder.

After standing there in a daze for a while, Xiao Xu remembered that there was something important he hadn't done yet, so he rushed into the research institute.

"Professor Oak, have all my Pokémon been claimed?"

The research institute does not provide enough starter Pokémon for newcomers; you need to apply.

Even if you apply, it only means you can claim the position from the PhD student; it doesn't guarantee you'll receive it.

The principle of "first come, first served" applies everywhere.

Although confused by the trainer's elusive maneuvers, Professor Oak shook his head as soon as he saw the newcomer arrive, putting aside the previous questions.

"I remember your name is... Xiao Xu. Sorry, the three starter Pokémon I prepared have already been taken by the kid who's never late."

"ah--."

Xiao Xu looked disappointed, but then noticed a Poké Ball that the professor had placed on the table.

"Professor Oak, isn't this Poké Ball meant for the trainer's starter Pokémon?"

"Yes...no, it's not."

Professor Oak's initial answer was out of a sense of rigor, but he quickly changed his mind afterward.

This new Leaf Cat is not suitable for novice trainers.

Initial Pokémon will choose to be close to and obedient to newcomers, even if the trainer has no command experience, they will actively adapt to the newcomer's personality.

If any of the criteria for the New Leaf Cat inside this Poké Ball, marked with grass-type leaf symbols, are met, then...

None of them apply.

He was a loner and completely ignored the scholars' advice, including their training in techniques.

Raising a suitable starter Pokémon to accompany a new trainer on their journey requires considerable effort, starting with selecting the Pokémon egg.

This new Leafeon is a case of slipping through the net; Professor Oak doesn't plan to use it on a newcomer.

Although it's illogical and baseless, Professor Oak has seen too many trainers to tell the compatibility between a person and a Pokémon just by looking at their eyes.

The higher the compatibility, the stronger the trainer and Pokémon will be; this is a fact supported by data.

Having just met the current champion, Ye Luo, Professor Oak could immediately tell that he was a calm and collected trainer, which was quite similar to the personality of this new Ye Luo.

He had originally intended to give him the Pokémon.

Keeping them in the research institute means they're just roaming freely in the backyard every day. It's better to let someone take them on adventures; that would be good for their growth.

It's hard to understand why he didn't want the question.

"I'm just here to experience the process."

Professor Oak was making wild guesses, but he never expected to leave the newcomer standing aside.

Xiao Xu didn't miss the fact that before the professor said "no," he affirmed his own words. Now that he didn't want it, he would miss his chance. He pointed to the Poké Ball in Professor Oak's hand.

"Professor, I want this Pokémon."

Professor Oak chuckled awkwardly, "This one isn't really suitable for the road. Why don't you wait until next year, or perhaps you could catch a docile Pidgey or Rattata?"

"I don't want this one, I only want this one."

Xiao Xu isn't stupid; the Pidgey and Rattata on the roadside are nowhere near as powerful as the Pokémon bred in the research institute.

Moreover, once you have your starter Pokémon, catching wild Pokémon found on the roadside is no easy feat.

"I'm already behind everyone else because I just took a Pidgey I caught on the street on a trip. Please, Professor Oak, give it to me."

If normal reasoning fails, Xiaoxu plans to resort to the childish tantrum of begging.

Professor Oak sighed. He decided not to give this new Leafeon to the newcomer, for the newcomer's own good.

The child in front of me is an impulsive, easily swayed, and enthusiastic trainer, making him the least suitable match for this new Leafy Cat.

However, there's also a saying that personalities need to be worked out.

Place the Poké Ball in Xiao Xu's hand, and the Poké Ball will immediately open.

"Meow~".

"So cute~! Let me hug you."

Daiki: "Watch out!"

"Meow~ (scratching)!"

The moment Xiaoxu picked up Xinye Miao, he was scratched all over, leaving claw marks on his arms and face.

This little scratch will probably heal to the point of being invisible in two or three days, but it really hurts when it's cut.

"When Xinye Miao is sitting still, pay attention to its paws. If it sticks out, it means it is an attack signal. Do not touch it rashly."

"Why didn't you say so sooner, Doctor?"

"Why didn't I tell you sooner when you had already hugged him?"

Professor Oak thought to himself, "This kid is definitely an impulsive type of trainer. His unpleasant relationship with Meowth will probably last for a long time."

In the end, if they hadn't put aside their past grievances and become better friends with Pokémon, they would most likely have parted ways.

But no matter what, it's not something he, as a Pokémon professor, should worry about.

Give the new trainer their starter Pokémon and a Pokédex to record data. After that, it's up to them to decide how they want to play and adventure.

At this moment, Ye Luo was standing at the entrance to the beginner forest.

The natural path has become a road due to the number of people walking on it, although it is still overgrown with wild grass that grows incredibly fast.

The cobblestone streets of Pallet New Town only extend into the forest, maintaining its rural charm in this respect.

"Congratulations on obtaining your starter Pokémon. Now you can finally proudly call yourself a rookie trainer."

Title earned: Unknown rookie trainer.

Taking the first step as a trainer is also the most difficult step. Ahead lies the perilous Beginner's Forest. Entering the forest without a Pokémon would be dangerous, but now there's no need to worry. You now have a starter Pokémon that can fight alongside you, Leafeon.

Keep it up, young man!!

Next target: Viridian City! (Incomplete)

Reward: 500G.

He was too lazy to argue with Arceus, who had 2G network access, about these pointless things, and just complained helplessly.

Didn't they know that he came from the forest in reverse, and that he didn't have any new leaves?

Ye Luo turned off her phone.

Meloeta sat on her shoulder, munching on a golden biscuit she had bought from the store, humming a little tune.

"Although you can fly directly to Viridian City, it doesn't feel like a trip."

After thinking about it, Ye Luo decided against it. He wasn't in a hurry and didn't have any specific goals. He would just go back into the beginner forest and go through it again.

If you walk and don't get lost, it will only take two or three days to get there.

Sleeping in the wild was commonplace for him. After replenishing his supplies in Pallet Town, he could continue on his journey.
