Chapter 87 The Waltz of Closing Time

In the evening, at the end of the day, Gardevoir turned over the sign indicating that the store was open.

Ye Luo and Pokémon stayed in the store to clean the place.

Seeing the hair salon run by his own Pokémon getting on track, Ye Luo felt a sense of fulfillment in both his mood and his wallet.

The initial goal was simply to let my Pokémon experience something new, but it would be even better if I could get some financial return.

It seems that both the experience of the new lifestyle and the profits from running the store are good, so it should be considered a win-win situation.

Ye Luo asked casually.

"By the way, Raya, your annual leave should be coming to an end soon, right?"

Raya, who was clearing away the tableware, was initially puzzled, but now she was quite skilled at being a waitress.

"Hmm? It seems so."

If Ye Luo hadn't mentioned it, she would have almost forgotten that she used to be a postman.

Raya took out her phone to check the marked dates and circled a red circle where the holiday ended.

"Hmm... I have to go back and deliver the message in six days."

Raya wore a bitter expression and complained.

"I don't want to go to work."

It's as if being a waiter in a store isn't a job.

Serving tea and water to guests during the day, and having to stand all the time, isn't that also a job?

Raya read Ye Luo's inner thoughts and exclaimed in surprise.

"So this is considered a job?"

"You didn't even notice?"

Ye Luo couldn't help but complain.

"Laya has been working at the store for two months now."

Raya tilted his head in confusion and said.

"I always thought this place was just for me to have fun. Ye Luo found me guests to chat with while I ate snacks that weren't unlimited."

Ye Luo was a little speechless. The snacks were limited, and he had to go to the cookie shop next door to buy them.

From Latias's perspective, every day she would see humans enter the store, then serve them a plate of snacks, just like inviting them into her own home for a chat.

They didn't treat themselves as shop assistants at all.

"Besides, didn't Ye Luo say that I'm the boss, so this place is under my jurisdiction?"

Raya was quite pleased with herself, but indeed no one paid any attention to her; chatting with guests on the first floor was all she did.

Ye Luo's assignments for the Pokémon were quite simple: Primarina just had to sing, Latias and Umbreon were free to do whatever they wanted, and Gardevoir was probably the only one with requirements, as it was styling the guests.

As for himself, he simply shirked his responsibilities and did the logistical work.

Trainers issue commands from the rear, and Pokémon fight in the front. Thinking about it this way, it's not much different from running this shop.

I don't think his Pokémon would have any objections.

[Leaves fall.]

Just as he was thinking this, Meloeta, who was sitting on his shoulders, tugged at his scarf.

I'm tired of the cookies from this shop.

"I understand. From now on, we'll switch to other types of desserts."

[Hmm~!]

Now that I have money, I can afford to buy some fancy desserts that I wouldn't normally buy.

Without changing the snacks, Meloetta and Latias lack motivation to work, making it impossible to create a positive cycle.

However, Ye Luo still prefers cookies, mainly because biscuits are easier to store and don't take up much space.

Desserts must be eaten on the same day.

Meloeta smiled and spoke telepathically.

[Don't worry, I'll eat the extra portion.]

Living such a comfortable life, Meloeta's only chance to make a move was to use up the food she had at home, and there was nothing she could do about that.

Although it's a job that feeds ten people but does the work of one, all you have to do is work.

Ye Luo wiped the dust off the cabinet with a damp cloth, while Meloetta hummed a song on her shoulder.

Physically, it doesn't help. Meloetta has poor telekinetic control and can't do some fine motor tasks; it can only sing to entertain its trainer.

[Cheers! Keep going! Let's work hard to earn gold and enjoy delicious cakes, matcha cakes, and chocolate cakes!]

It seems Meloeta wanted to eat cake-like desserts, so she casually put it into a song, which sounds like a fairytale-style melody.

Ye Luo felt much lighter, which was also the power of Meloetta's singing.

The soothing melody can restore the stamina of people and Pokémon and improve their mood.

Gardevoir uses its psychic powers to control a broom, rag, and mop, each cleaning independently. If you add Meloetta's Melody to Gardevoir's scene, it creates a magical feeling, like watching a fairy tale movie.

Gardevoir did indeed examine her reflection in the mirror. With her short blue hair, a pretty lace hat, and a deep blue shawl, she twirled in front of the mirror.

"Gardedoll dances in front of the mirror, and the cleaning is done."

Gardevoir blinked in confusion, its red eyes looking at its trainer, tilting its head as if to express its bewilderment.

Ye Luo shrugged and complained.

"Fairy tales always have this kind of setting. I was just saying it casually; it doesn't have any deeper meaning."

In fairy tales, princesses don't suffer hardships, but then a fairy appears and casually taps her wand twice, automatically cleaning the house. Then the princess can put on a beautiful dress and go to a ball with the prince.

Unfortunately, this world doesn't have such stories. Let alone Pokémon, even if you talk to people about these things, they don't know anything about them.

"Then, Prince, would you like to dance with me?"

After reading the trainer's thoughts, Gardevoir smiled and used telepathy to say this, extending her wrist in request.

[The cleaning should be finished after a dance.]

"Me too! Me too!"

Raya seemed quite interested, thinking it was some fun new game.

Ye Luo thought for a moment and decided that it was fine if he didn't have to clean. He could play with the hardworking Gardevoir and extend a hand in a gentlemanly manner.

"Waltz? I'm not good at that."

Once something involves performance, Ye Luo has no say in it, as his Pokémon particularly enjoy excitement.

Meloye Tower floated up, changing the melody and embellishing the fairytale ballad with elegance.

Sissihairen, understanding perfectly, sang a beautiful high note, harmonizing with Meloeta's melody.

Gardevoir also began to sway left and right to find the rhythm, as the waltz emphasizes gentleness and rhythm.

Based on Gardevoir's actions, Leaf Fall moves in sync with the rhythm in front of the mirror.

"Left, right, left, right, left, right."

In the mirror, the trainer leads the humanoid Pokémon and slowly moves sideways in the same direction. The mirror surface on the ground can be used as a reflection to correct posture.

It's just a very simple set of movements: keep your body straight, head up and chest out, with your left hand behind your back and the other hand guiding your steps from side to side.

Left, right, left, right, with a slightly larger range of left and right.

"It feels like I'm participating in a glamour contest."

Gardevoir's eyes glowed red as it danced hand-in-hand with its trainer, conveying joy through their contact.

Four eight-beat intervals, from synchronized steps to mirrored interaction, each facing outwards, inwards, and then face to face, Ye Luo and Gardevoir saluted.

"It won't happen again."

Ye Luo hadn't specifically practiced it; she only knew this little opening dance. Seeing Gardevoir's eyes sparkling, it must have been quite happy.

"My turn! My turn!"

Raya had been waiting anxiously on the sidelines, and Gardevoir immediately replaced her after switching sides.

They danced a really messy dance.

"Hmph, left, right, left, right, Ye Luo, are you keeping up?"

"We've caught up."

In front of the mirror, Laya pulled Ye Luo along, but the two of them couldn't keep up with the rhythm of the music. Ladias couldn't find the rhythm at all and was just swaying according to her own feelings.

It doesn't look like a waltz; it looks more like a crab walk.

Raya danced a short segment without any grace, but she seemed quite happy about it.

"This is so much fun! Gardevoir, let's do a little dance too!"

[? ]

Leafy finally escaped the torturous children's dance, and the energetic Raya pulled Gardevoir around, bouncing back and forth.

Ye Luo then joined the performance group, taking out her harmonica and joining in the ensemble with Sissihairen and Meloetta.

Before leaving get off work, I played with Pokémon in the store for a while. When the waltz ended and it got dark outside, it was time to head back to the hotel.

After everything was tidied up, Ye Luo walked to the door, only to find that a dark, inverted triangle had been lying on the glass outside the door since the beginning.

The Pokémon wearing a pink diamond on its head is stuck to the glass and waving at the falling leaves.
