Pokémon: Just won the championship, the newbie growth system is here!
Chapter 9 Adventures always begin unexpectedly
This is Xiaoxu's first time venturing into the beginner forest.
Having finally taken the first step to become a rookie trainer, the excitement still lingers in my heart.
"Come out, Shin-chan, this is our adventure."
I opened the Poké Ball and summoned Newleaf Meow.
There happened to be a Pidgey ahead, so I decided to use it as my first battle to capture a Pokémon and command my Pokémon.
"New Leaf Cat, use Scratch!"
"Meow~ (sleeping)."
New Leafy Cat showed no interest whatsoever and even took a nap, while Bobo took the opportunity to fly away.
"...Come back, Shin-chan."
One failure is not enough to stop Xiaoxu's progress, and he is not discouraged.
I looked at Newleafy's Poké Ball and thought to myself.
"Xin Ye Miao is just not familiar with me yet. Things will definitely get better as we get to know each other better."
Raising Pokémon is a process of going from strangers to partners, something I've already heard from my father who never returned.
Xiao Xu heard from his mother that his father was once a very powerful trainer who had even reached the semifinals of the League Tournament.
With his family members in his sight, Xiao Xu finally followed in his father's footsteps.
"Although my mother is a little worried at home, one day I will have to leave the house on my own."
At 10 years old, one is already an adult and must face everything in the world alone.
When Xiaoxu told his mother that his dream was to become a trainer, his mother was a little reluctant, but she still agreed to his dream request.
Despite some minor issues, Xiao Xu remains confident about the future. New trainers embark on their journeys with this mix of anticipation and nervousness.
Take out the Pokédex given to you by Professor Oak. This is an important item that combines functions such as guidance for new trainers, beginner navigation, Pokémon scanning data, and trainer identification.
Xiao Xu opened and flipped through the "New Trainer's Guidebook".
"The easiest way to catch Pokémon is through Pokémon battles. After weakening the Pokémon's HP in the battle, you can then throw a Poké Ball to catch it."
When he left the research institute, Professor Oak gave Xiaoxu five Poké Balls as a gift, so that he could catch the Pokémon near his home on his journey.
Having only one Pokémon is not enough; excellent trainers often bring different types of Pokémon to deal with various situations.
Flying-type Pokémon can be caught in forests, like Pidgey.
The house bird may seem ordinary now, but after evolving into its final form, Pidgeot, it can take its trainer on trips between cities and return home very quickly.
Xiao Xu actually planned to catch a Pidgey when he entered the Beginner's Forest, but it seems that the plan will have to be postponed.
Newleafyre is unwilling to fight, and the cautious bird Pokémon has difficulty hitting its target by simply throwing balls.
Xiao Xu closed the Pokédex.
"First, catch an easy-to-catch Pokémon as a substitute for the battle."
After going around in circles, we've come back to the point where we still need to obtain our own Pokémon without relying on other Pokémon.
In battles between humans and Pokémon near their homes, humans have a size advantage, but wild Pokémon are too agile.
Xiao Xu adjusted his hat, deciding to grab whatever he saw; as long as he could tame it, he would make a profit.
The first day was over, and we hadn't caught a single hair.
I was alone in the forest at night, shivering in my sleeping bag. The rustling sounds in the forest were terrifying.
"New...New Leafy Cat, can you come closer to me? I'm scared."
Having a Pokémon as a partner makes me feel safer, but Leafeon doesn't want to talk to its trainer. It climbs up the tree trunk and sleeps on the treetop.
Xiao Xu didn't dare to sleep soundly, and thus spent a terrifying night.
Feeling a bit groggy, I continued my journey the next day.
"Go, Poké Ball!"
He threw the Poké Ball with all his might, but the trajectory went way off course, hitting a rock and bouncing back. The rebound landed precisely on Xiao Xu's face, making his cheek sting as he squatted on the ground.
"It hurts so much!"
Even if it hurts, no one will comfort it. New Leaf Cat is still fast asleep in its Poké Ball. Even if it calls out, it will just sullenly turn its head away and not even look at its trainer.
The next day passed, and nothing was found.
By nightfall, Xiao Xu had gotten used to the forest environment, although the pitch blackness was still a bit scary.
But after a night of testing, I realized that the rustling sounds of grass and leaves were just me scaring myself.
"But I'm still a little scared."
Xiao Xu huddled in his sleeping bag, cautiously looking around, until he was too exhausted to continue and finally drifted off to sleep.
As we continue forward, it feels like we're almost at Viridian City, but I haven't caught a single Pokémon yet, and I'm feeling quite uncertain.
Xiao Xu's excitement for the adventure faded considerably within two days; having two days of bad luck right at the start of the trip was quite discouraging.
"It's only been two days. Good luck will come later. I won't give up."
With no one around, Xiao Xu cheered himself up, thinking that since he had been unlucky at the beginning, his luck should improve today.
Whoosh-!
A sharp whistling sound cut through the air. Xiao Xu was still wondering what had happened when he followed the sound and found that he had encountered good luck.
A green caterpillar with a bump on its head collapsed in the forest for some unknown reason.
"Although I don't like caterpillars, this is a great opportunity!"
Although I don't know why a Pokémon with camouflage, like Caterpie, hiding in the treetops, would be knocked unconscious, I don't have time to think about it now that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Xiao Xu immediately took out a Poké Ball from his backpack, gently touched the Pokémon, and successfully captured it.
After a few heart-pounding shakes of the Poké Ball, I successfully caught my first wild Pokémon in my life.
"Great! Shinleafy, come quick! I caught my first Pokémon, Caterpie!"
The purpose of releasing the new Leaf Cat was not to let it fight, but simply to showcase the results of its skill in taming it.
After all, there was no one else here for Xiao Xu to show off to, so he could only show off to his Pokémon.
"From now on, the caterpillar will be our companion, so let's get along well."
"Meow~ (yawns)."
New Leaf Cat remained unmoved and uninterested in these matters, running off to play in the nearby bushes.
"New Leaf Cat, don't be so heartless."
Xiao Xu could only smile wryly, thinking that it might take longer than he had imagined to get along with Xin Ye Miao.
Just as I was thinking this, a Pokémon's startled cry came from across the bushes.
"Meow~!"
"Gah~!"
The leaves of the new leaf cat collided with the beak of the scorching sparrow, knocking it to the ground.
The victorious New Leaf Cat proudly raised its head, unaware that the defeated Sparrow had another trick up its sleeve.
A sharp bird cry rang out from the treetops, instantly waking countless eyes in the trees.
A dark, fierce flock of birds rushed out, circling and attacking the intruders relentlessly, pecking with their beaks and scratching with their claws.
"Meow~!"
"Come back, Shin-chan!!"
The beam of light emitted from the Poké Ball was blocked by the flying Spearow. If wild Pokémon become hostile, they will prioritize attacking domesticated Pokémon before attacking humans.
Xiao Xu could only endure the pain of being pecked by the Fiery Sparrow and run into the center of the flock. The New Leaf Cat had already been quickly defeated under the repeated attacks.
"Come back, Shin-chan."
They put the new Leaf Cat back into the ball and ran off, with the Spearow chasing after them.
Fortunately, the crisis was temporarily averted, and Xiao Xu only suffered minor injuries before running to Tokiwa City.
"Phew, we're here. The Pokémon Center, wait for me."
Taking a couple of breaths of fresh air, he started running again, heading towards the Pokémon Center in the city center.
After some time, Ye Luo walked from the muddy ground to the adjacent street, looked at the lush green city in front of him, and breathed a sigh of relief.
"We've finally arrived in Viridian City. Let's check the mission first."
"Congratulations! You have successfully arrived in Viridian City and passed the first hurdle for Kanto newcomers: the Beginner Forest. You have paid the trainer 500G as a reward."
Your Pokémon are exhausted after a tough battle in the beginner forest. Take them to the Pokémon Center to recover.
Task: Rest and recuperation are also important.
Go to the Pokémon Center to update the Pokémon's status (incomplete).
Reward: 200G.
"If you say so, then so be it."
Ye Luo, having eaten and drunk her fill in the wild, planned to go to the Pokémon Center to recover her stamina and complete the quest along the way.
