Chapter 35 Harley's Magic

"It's a pity there are no private rooms."

Xuexi sat next to Connors, looking at the stage surrounded by trees with a hint of regret.

"It's a stadium, so it's normal that there aren't any VIP boxes. There are rooms for commentators, though," Connors said.

Amid applause, Zatanna smiled, removed her hat, bowed to the audience, and then reached out and pulled a mirror from the darkness beyond the reach of the spotlight.

Clearly, her appearance out of thin air was a "visual illusion" achieved through the mirror; it was genuine magic, not the kind of magic Connors believed.

Magicians typically perform a few relatively simple magic tricks on stage first, and then personally expose their deception.

This serves two purposes: firstly, to warm up the audience, and secondly, to prepare for the actual performance that will follow.

Zatanna on stage was no exception. She used various magic tricks, such as white doves flying out of her hat and bending the spotlight beam at will, to win cheers and applause. Then she began to set up her stage in a mysterious manner.

As the audience's anticipation gradually rose after the previous few seemingly simple visual magic tricks, which Zatanna herself did not expose and no one in the audience could detect, the audience's expectations were gradually raised.

She also randomly selected two lucky audience members to come on stage—not to kill them, but to have them check if the box contained any mechanisms, mirrors, or similar tools.

The two lucky audience members were overjoyed to be able to get up close and personal with the beautiful magician. They obediently checked the box and gave a thumbs-up to the others in the audience, indicating that there were no problems.

There was a little incident in the middle when one of the audience members tried to get handsy, but flames suddenly shot out from Zatanna's tuxedo, burning the guy so much that he screamed.

Still smiling, he showed the audience the fire-starting device hidden inside his clothes, explaining that it was just a magic trick. After letting two lucky audience members return to their seats, the magic show "The Great Disappearance" officially began.

She closed the box after the audience had checked it and confirmed that there were no problems, then placed it on a four-legged table and covered it with a red cloth.

If all goes well during the performance, a living person will appear inside the box after the red cloth is lifted.
